The plus tho is that even through that it won’t last so long anymore since it consumes more ki but now the back and forth feels more satisfying like it’s supposed to be nobody is getting through them so easily like in pre patch

@@ernestobarragan3210 I have to disagree with that based on my pre-patch experience on singles. Singles WAS the most cheesy mode out of the 2. Players with insta spark could just use it and start spamming ki blast stunning you and then hitting you with their ultimate, just to enter sparking mode again and finish the game. Now with vanish wars regenerating less skill points, and ki blasts having a certain delay, you can now play with any character, throw hands and win.

Yeah, I don't really understand punishing aggressive players for initiating exchanges by nerfing z-burst. People already played overly defensive, and it feels like even with the other changes there are more players content to sit back and never approach.
Yeah I have had success punishing insta spark attempts from afar with my instant transmision now, I could do it before patch too, but before the patch I always had 1 ki bar so I prefered to do Z burst, now I prefer to use two stocks
Me and a friend were playing last night and every time I used time skip he just held perception and was already looking at me when I was supposed to appear behind him idk if that’s intended but it makes instant transmission worthless his lock never went off
@@lazysamurai4348 Yeah the CPU was doing this against my Blue Gogeta insta transmisión too I thought it was the CPU just being gdlk, but nah, it is that easy to counter. Thats why I don't use transmition in neutral and only use it to stop people from insta sparking from afar and from getting someone's back after a smash or grab like I used to do with Z burst, this way it is guaranteed to land.
Z burst dash being nerfed just enables the same losers who spam instant spark as their main strategy. Honestly, I’m very disappointed with my first impressions of this patch
I really just don't get why z burst dash was touched. It felt very much dbz to rush in at each other, learn different ways to throw people off, stop the broly cheesers who just spam insta spark or just charge up. I definitely agree with the other comments about instant transmission being the new meta. Just wish they would have hit on rage quitting instead of making a different aspect of the game worse.
I don’t like the changes at all, it’s not that I can’t adapt, it’s just enabling the cheesy playstyle even more. A lot of berserk kale showing up, and even broly will be viable since it’s more difficult to play aggressively against them and they can sit there and charge for an ultimate or unblockble super. I don’t know maybe I’m ranting, but I’m not feeling this update at all. Keep up the videos homie

The charged attack concept seemed like a good idea to me but im really hating how combos feel rn. Keeps making me do random charged attacks when I don’t want to and if I slow down the mashing of square to try avoid that then the combos just drop. That with the dash costing 2 bars is really annoying

It does to an extent but it kills combat potential and slows it down because now there’s less combo variety since you can’t do the resets as often. Game’s already heavily defensive. Nerfing z dash will just make it worse imo
just had the pleasure to play some patched matches during my lunch break today, since in Europe the patch is already out. I gotta say i can see why they made z burst dash cost two ki bars, think it mainly is because androids' loop was very strong and it's now more difficult to do, and androids could loop you till you lost one character if you didn't have an explosive wave or super countered the right amount of times to gain ki advantage, which can become difficult since androids regenerate their ki. And it also gives you a reason to try different approach mechanics. Side step isn't as powerful as I thought it would've become, because ki blast can still interrupt it, the invincibility frames are not a lot, to the point i didn't notice the difference. Vanish wars tho, that was a big big change, now it takes twice or 3 times the ki it needed to do 1 vanish, very good, and the time becomes faster and faster with each vanish just like damage reduces more and more as you hit longer combos. It's more engaging now and more difficult to pull off and finally revenge counter, since skill points now are more difficult to farm, but not impossible, keeping the pressure high and staying in the engagement isn't always necessary to keep the opponent in the match without activating instant spark. Example: faced teen gohan today, he went ss2 on me, and by the time he got to four skill points he knocked me away like 4 times and i still managed to come close to him again each time, and throw hands, forcing him to use explosive wave at red health, and he has 5 skill points max so he couldn't activate it after, and if he brought a red health character back after the health regen nerf for the background characters that means i'll kill him as soon as he comes in. As you said in the patches' video I thouth as well that some mechanichs should have stayed the way they were, but after trying it on practice i saw they made a good patch. Btw the last thing, switching becomes more important with less health recovery, as you said, but it also makes matches end for squad wipe more often than timeout, so i'm satisfied with that too. I know exactly what you mean,not everything is perfect but the vanish war change is good and the health recovery nerf for background characters basically changing the whole strategy for DP battles to squad wiling is also a very welcoming strategy
I think a better change to z burst dashing would’ve been to just have the character burst forwards and be in front of the opponent. Androids still have the potential to do the loops the most out of every character in the game. With how passive the gameplay can be, androids can now sit back, pester you with ki blasts, as they regen ki and then eventually use those loops when they finally choose to engage. The switch mechanic right now feels like it doesn’t function properly so I don’t have much to say on that.
z burst dash needs to go back to 1 ki bar, don't know why they did this - lots of improvements from this patch which is dope af but z burst dash needs to be 1 bar
The nerf to Z burst dash now benefits characters with full charge and instant spark. Especially full charge since it’s 2 skill points. But even with the nerf to instant spark, once you use it, youll have ki advantage and will be easier to keep up pressure. On the flip side, it’ll be harder to stop instant spark because of that extra ki cost.
Can't help but agree with all these points Played another Z-rank who just stood there and charged and instant sparked, never engaged the whole game; I thought damn ok. I play very aggressive, always z bursting. Now its such a high risk to even touch z burst because if I get super countered, now im at a huge ki disadvantage
Unironically this patch a great step in the right direction IS WHAT ID SAY If the freaking mega heal bug didnt exists. Also the new dash should be much faster.
Also, for the sake of DP meta, I'd like to make the winner however damaged mosr of the enemy team instead of based on health. That would make it waay more aggressive and would encourage stronger teams instead of weak 5 character meta. Not much variation since there's not many 1, 2, and 3 DP characters so it's only a 2 character rotation...
I tried a few hours the new update. Z burst dash was a big part of my game because i tend to Play aggressively but now it just feels weird. We gotta adapt but i don't think it will be Easy. I really liked the fact that i could always extended my combos but now it's way harder than before
You can use the new Dash to close the distance. Just don’t start punching as soon as you get close. Cancel, side step and look for an opening. And with the fix on vanish wars. Ki advantage is no longer too strong when you are up close.
This is exactly why they had to nerf z burst dash. One of the biggest, cheapest, most used tactics in the game was to zoom behind and give back shots that only have one counter, the most skillful counter in the game to pull off. And you just made a half hour video missing it. Now it has to be used sparingly. There are other approach options they just aren’t as easy. Nobody enjoys being on the other end of an infinite combo loop. I do think perception needs a slight nerf (consume more ki?) to match though.
3 counters. Super counter, side stepping, ki blasts and blocking. It was bad choice to nerf z burst it kills aggression in a game that’s already slow paced and carried by defense.
Those counter the dash but once they have initiated a combo to the back you only have super counter. At least that I have managed. I will admit I mostly play singles and haven’t run into much running away. Dragon dash deflects ki blasts though? So you can still just dash through them. I’m trying to have fun playing dragon ball man and constantly playing around z burst dash was lame. I’m glad such a valuable tool now has some noticeable cost.
I have no idea why they nerfed the z-burst so heavily. I never saw anyone complain about it so they themselves must’ve decided that’s not the way they wanted people to approach in sparking zero. Like even a nerf to 1 and a half ki bars would be fine but two whole bars is insane!
@@vChesterr I think that would be a bad reason to completely nerf a mechanic that affects every character. They already nerfed those Androids outside of the burst dash in other significant ways including nerfing their grabs into the ground so it’s hard to see the logic there.
I want to say that the patch has been actually very good, except for the z burst dash change, I need to get used to it now, vanish wars feel actually more skillful to time it faster and faster, and I feel like ki management is more important than ever, I already decided to play Vegeta scouter because his ki charging is fast, like Turles, considering also using Turles in my main team. There is unfortunately only one damn problem... wtf is that health bug man? 💀anyways, I will be playing singles for now I guess, singles btw is also better now imo, I see diversity and less instant sparking spam. Also, I think the revenge counter perception was really stupid, why I spend 2 sp, and my opp potentially gonna spend only 1 against me? 💀

I felt like there was already enough counter play for aggressive play styles and z burst dashing (super counter, side step z-burst dash, perception, ki blast, etc) so it’s weird they even saw this as a mechanic that needed a nerf. I understand that for some it can be annoying to go against a high pressure player but is this really the better alternative? IMO this made the gameplay worse overall.
Guess I’ll have to learn those two reset techs you used. From watching this gameplay I’ve noticed my play style won’t change drastically I’ll just need to think smarter when approaching. Will slow the pace down a tad but I’ll adjust for sure.
I think Z-Burst dash was the only major miss in this update. There was no reason to nerf it other than to showcase and offer the alternative of the High Speed Dragon Dash, which just isn’t the same nor good enough to make up for the advantages of Z-Burst Dash. Everything else I’m ‘mostly’ okay with, even happy with but that one change to Z-Burst Dash is just not good, it doesn’t feel good either.
Also, they didn't fix item glitch did they? Crazy that it was happening in finals and it wasn't fixed (at least i don't think it was). Also, im ngl it's lame that they do a lot of "buffed x slightly" instead of giving raw numbers, like me personally it'd be way nicer if instead of SSJ4 Goku's buff being "increased" they said "Buffed from 25% -> 50% Attack" or whatever
I like most of the update but the 2 ki bars for Z-burst dash. I agree 1 was low, but 2 is too much. 1 & 1/2 feels like a happy medium. Like you said. Androids are the absolute meta right now.
This is what i feared of this patch. They wanted to buff the more passive gameplay, with people throwing thing from afar, like in other arena fighters (although for me Sparking Zero isn't an arena fighter)
I bet they're listening and they'll eventually revert the Z-burst back. Not sure why it got nerfed in the first place. I guess they just wanted to make ki more expensive in general?

A "work around" for the z burst dash nerf is that after the knockbacks attacks instead of z burst press circle to throw them on the ground and then use the new mecchanic to approach them quickly continuing the combo It's not as good but better than nothing Circle->L2+X(hold) Ps: if Z burst was 1,5 bar it would have been fine but 2 is really too much
the "new" dash is so trash, it's literally just the regular dragon dash but 25% faster. not even close to a replacement for z-burst dash, feels bad to use too
The nerfs to dragon dash and buff to revenge counter will make DP so damn annoying now with stalling playstyles. I haven’t played yet I’m on my way home now but I can tell this is gonna be a miserable experience lol. I’m happy with all the changes besides the dragon dash and revenge counter one. The dragon dash change really only affects good players.

I have had mixed experiences with the patch so far. Positive: .-Vanish wars gone. .-AIS buried .-Insta spark less prominent (but still viable, needed to have a longer activation time imo) .-Slower beams means easier to dodge unblockable supers. .-Buff skills got buffed (give more dmg and cost less). .-Trunks vanish step cheese is gone. .-RIP Giants (nobody will miss them .-No more Android dash stall cheese. Negative: .-Z burst dash nerf was totally uncalled for, like, seriosly who complained about it? Nobody, this felt random af. .-Revenge counter nerf also uncalled for, wasnt even strong to begin with. .-New combo mechanic where the further you are in a combo the faster you can charge a smash, this tends to make you drop combos cause it can come out accidentally if you happen to hold a rush hit for like 0.2 seconds more, gotta let go of the button real fast now, combos feel clunkier somehow. .-Super counter unchanged, needed a lock out mechanic. .-Health regen bug in DP (will likely get hotfixed anyways tho). .- Rage quitting still running rampant and no word from the devs on this. Overall the game is more a positive experience than before for sure, Im just salty about the Z burst nerf, I gotta main Insta transmission or full power charge chars now to stop people from insta sparking uncontested. Game still has ways to go, dont let the devs get confortable with it, they did good now for the most part, but game still needs more changes (and revert some changes)

Super counters will be harder to do in a vanish war. If you land one, they vanish again and again and theyll keep getting faster. So i think its a bit more difficult to get a super counter if theyre stuck in z vanish assaults.
very sad to see... cant believe they somehow made the game worse when they have a full list made by the community explaining what needs to be changed. and why change the z burst dash? who tf was complaining about z burst dash being 1 ki bar never heard anyone have a problem with that. the time outs are the worst part of this game imo(and rage quitting ofc still cant believe people dont get punished for that) a lot of the times i would run 2-3 character teams with majin vegeta and just self explode whenever i see someone trying to stall, like get a life bro how pathetic are you to wanna win without learning how to play the game so badly that you wont even engage the whole fun of a fighting game is the fighting, go play survival horror if you wanna run, ppl so down bad for ranked points in a game with no ranked rewards is crazy. and the devs must not give a single fuck considering they dont even play their own game and they release updates meant to ''fix'' it and instead add game breaking bugs like your health fully recovering after a switch. really wanted to get on the new update and have fun now id rather not play at all...

ive honestly been enjoying the game sm more after switching to dp battles it feels like a breath of fresh air, but with that glitch im not even gonna attempt dp gotta go back to the singles grind
With the vanish changes and the charge attack timing changes, hand to hand looks faster and smoother. I haven’t played it yet but it’s nicer to watch imo That glitch needs to be patched ASAP. If they wait too long, it will appear to the community that they don’t care enough. The optics will be terrible unless they put out an emergency patch.
They take 2 months for an update while the game is super broken and felt underdeveloped in some ways and then the update has a glitch that makes dp unplayable. Bandai just doesn't give a f bro it's crazy
@Filet_Mignon22 instant sparking mode, unblockable ults, ki blast spam, android 19 and dr gero, dr wheelo, unblockable dash for giants, lock on mode afterimage strike,timer in dp so all you have to do is just stall and there's probably other things I'm forgetting right now. Another problem with the game is that there's literally nothing to do I reached Z rank in both dp and singles and I don't fell like there's anything else I can do right now the game just needs some more game modes like 2v2 or something.
@eugenekrabs8031 most of those aren't "super broken" that's just gimmicks characters have that make them strong. I thought you meant it actually started off in a broken state. The only things I would say are broken that actually needed to be fixed was giant super dash and no penalty on ragequit

I just thought you meant actually game breaking bugs and stuff like the health bar glitch currently out and the no penalties on rage quits.
Bandai doesn't usually have much quality control, it's one of the reasons why most of their games just decay pretty quickly and last by being held in a dlc lifeline. So I wouldn't be putting too much hope on an emergency patch any time soon either. Only reason y can think of them nerfing the z-burst dash was less out of a spite for agression but rather, because they saw it as a consistent strategy people would rely on. Mind you, if there was really more to do at a range, it wouldn't be much of an issue, but a lot of the times there's not. I think it's a huge L more so considering we never got a proper nerf on super counters.
There is another bug. When I was playing today, the dp match finished I had 4 characters still alive and the oponent was playing 2 character team (ultra instict sign goku + ss kefla)- I still lost. I feel like the input delay got even worse (on ps5) - the game is borderline unplayable even with the controller plugged in. (I live in Europe and I've got 1 gb fiber optic internet connection) Everyone's just stalling holding perception and sidestepping and when you perform the z burst dash, you're basically always in a disadvantage. They did nothing with the rage quitting, you still can't even report them. Great job namco lol I wish I bought this game on a blu-ray so I could sell it

Luckily I enjoy singles more cuz team battles just waste so much time in a match the time will pass you by if you zone out playing this game. I doubt I’ll play too many DP matches till they fix it but patch is ac start in the right direction
Haven’t had a chance to play yet, but it doesn’t seem that bad. It’s a 30% tax on z burst and makes it a high risk high reward play style choice. Because as it was it was all reward for basically no risk which created uncompetitive environment where a player could run hands on an entire team without giving anyone (that doesn’t think quick) the opportunity to adapt. Of course the people you fought were being lame about it and refusing engagements but you could have crossed distance deflecting ki instead of shooting back and had arrived at the engagement with advantage or more neutral ki favor. Personally I would dash in regardless even when it puts me at zero, ki regen is so quick you get 2 bars off a combo anyways. Z burst tap guard side step perception and get them cheeks and your ki back. Though as I type this I realize if I wanted to play passive I could just dash back on z burst and force people to play passive as it’d be even worse a position for the aggressor. I just talked myself out of thinking this wasn’t that bad lol. Edit: I guess they could just implement the momentum storage on dash movement like BT3 and then they have best of both worlds. High risk high reward burst dash and keeps passive play from ruling the meta 🤷🏽♂️
I don't know if you mention it in the video commenting early. Trunks step in is fixed I believe tried it in training and it didn't work anymore. I assumed they would do ghost patches.
Day 8 of asking you to do Dabura. Someday it will happen 🙏 I haven't played the new patch yet but it looks... strange? Not necessarily bad, but not very good either. It messed some things and fixed others as far as I can tell
The z burst dash nerf is actually great. It was way too easy for every charachter to just launch the enemy away and then use the z burst dash to start another combo from the back. The only way to escape this was to do a lot of super counters until you had more ki than your opponent. This was a big problem fighting against androids with passive ki gain. Also z burst dash was pretty much the only option to close the distance when being far away. The new dash mechanic is great to get closer and start the approach. You can still pressure the opponent after you launch them by slamming them into the ground or using the circle or B button follow up. The z butst dash loop was a boring and too easy mechanic, now it costs a lot more so that it's not possible to repeat it forever.
exactly! it is a mechanic that requires almost no skill, no reason not to do it, leading to repetitive matches, now you actually need to think of what to do with your ki
@nathan4553 I agree, it was boring to do and very hard to escape since the enemy increases his ki while attacking. Now you need to actually finish the combo and think how to follow up depending on your resources.
@Dredabeast95 not at all, but the z burst dash loop felt like a cheap way to be aggressive. I like to make long combos by resetting using different methods to follow up (like launching the enemy at the right height and using the O or A button to make the enemy stop on the ground and start a new combo or using the up triangle and stopping the combo). The problem is that the z burst dash loop still was the most efficient way to deal damage but it's repetitive and too easy to do. It didn't even felt aggressive since it's such a mindless thing to do. You're rewarded for doing the easiest thing in the game and for not using different options.
I'm A4, just won against an S1. Love the new update, the game is much more fair and a bit slower, it allows to add variety and strategy in more depth in my oppinion. This is great !

I noticed my rush chains started randomly throwing out a knock back punch that resets to neutral without any input I'll do a normal rush chain then step to extend no problem, but if I throw a gut punch or flying kicks? The neutral knock back comes out at complete random for every rush chain I do after Every character I played after the update does this. Is this just me or am I misunderstanding a change in this new patch?
I messed around wtih super Zarbon this morning and high tension is amazing now. Only costs 2 skill points and still gices the 2 ki bars along with the buffed buff
I didnt like how Z burst was spammed to get in (i used it also) but 2 bars is too much haha maybe make the foward dragon dash i think its called (R2 + X on PS5) even faster
How have you felt about these changes ? the nerf to Z burst dash has completely screwed up my game style. I also play extremely aggressive so this nerf has hit me hard. The new fast dash feels like poop to me. Times are changing and it’s time to adjust I guess 😅
I like how they changed vanish wars to take less time, but im really not liking the playstyle this update promotes. almost every game i played my opponent basically only tried to send me flying to do the followup attacks the whole game because the vanish timing got harder, and when that didn't work on me, they would just sit there waiting for me to approach them. There is definitely some good things about this patch, but by changing some of the things they did they are promoting such a passive playstyle, like no one wants to fight anymore excited for the stream tn tho i want to see how your viewers deal with the update
Gotanks and Vegito look like they might be strong picks this patch. They're 7 dp so they can fight brolys, and they have full ki regen skills to keep up z-bursts.
The singles meta is full charge power but I like the update a lot gotta lab it up once I hit Z rank ill be on DP battles. Turtles have explosion wave and all his skill points r 2 points 🐐

Keep on my mind vanish wars are always inevitable…Anybody that’s good enough will adjust to the timing for real. The plus tho is that even through that it won’t last so long anymore since it consumes more ki but now the back and forth feels more satisfying like it’s supposed to be nobody is getting through them so easily like in pre patch
Singles was always the most fun way to play, because tere isn't too much room for cheesy tactics in 1 vs 1

@@ernestobarragan3210 I have to disagree with that based on my pre-patch experience on singles. Singles WAS the most cheesy mode out of the 2. Players with insta spark could just use it and start spamming ki blast stunning you and then hitting you with their ultimate, just to enter sparking mode again and finish the game. Now with vanish wars regenerating less skill points, and ki blasts having a certain delay, you can now play with any character, throw hands and win.

Yeah, I don't really understand punishing aggressive players for initiating exchanges by nerfing z-burst. People already played overly defensive, and it feels like even with the other changes there are more players content to sit back and never approach.

Yeah I have had success punishing insta spark attempts from afar with my instant transmision now, I could do it before patch too, but before the patch I always had 1 ki bar so I prefered to do Z burst, now I prefer to use two stocks
Me and a friend were playing last night and every time I used time skip he just held perception and was already looking at me when I was supposed to appear behind him idk if that’s intended but it makes instant transmission worthless his lock never went off
@@lazysamurai4348 Yeah the CPU was doing this against my Blue Gogeta insta transmisión too I thought it was the CPU just being gdlk, but nah, it is that easy to counter. Thats why I don't use transmition in neutral and only use it to stop people from insta sparking from afar and from getting someone's back after a smash or grab like I used to do with Z burst, this way it is guaranteed to land.
Yo can do the same thing against z burst dash anyway. If you couldn't do anything it would be too strong. Just don't be predictable.

I really just don't get why z burst dash was touched. It felt very much dbz to rush in at each other, learn different ways to throw people off, stop the broly cheesers who just spam insta spark or just charge up.
I definitely agree with the other comments about instant transmission being the new meta. Just wish they would have hit on rage quitting instead of making a different aspect of the game worse.

The charged attack concept seemed like a good idea to me but im really hating how combos feel rn. Keeps making me do random charged attacks when I don’t want to and if I slow down the mashing of square to try avoid that then the combos just drop. That with the dash costing 2 bars is really annoying

just had the pleasure to play some patched matches during my lunch break today, since in Europe the patch is already out. I gotta say i can see why they made z burst dash cost two ki bars, think it mainly is because androids' loop was very strong and it's now more difficult to do, and androids could loop you till you lost one character if you didn't have an explosive wave or super countered the right amount of times to gain ki advantage, which can become difficult since androids regenerate their ki. And it also gives you a reason to try different approach mechanics. Side step isn't as powerful as I thought it would've become, because ki blast can still interrupt it, the invincibility frames are not a lot, to the point i didn't notice the difference. Vanish wars tho, that was a big big change, now it takes twice or 3 times the ki it needed to do 1 vanish, very good, and the time becomes faster and faster with each vanish just like damage reduces more and more as you hit longer combos. It's more engaging now and more difficult to pull off and finally revenge counter, since skill points now are more difficult to farm, but not impossible, keeping the pressure high and staying in the engagement isn't always necessary to keep the opponent in the match without activating instant spark. Example: faced teen gohan today, he went ss2 on me, and by the time he got to four skill points he knocked me away like 4 times and i still managed to come close to him again each time, and throw hands, forcing him to use explosive wave at red health, and he has 5 skill points max so he couldn't activate it after, and if he brought a red health character back after the health regen nerf for the background characters that means i'll kill him as soon as he comes in. As you said in the patches' video I thouth as well that some mechanichs should have stayed the way they were, but after trying it on practice i saw they made a good patch. Btw the last thing, switching becomes more important with less health recovery, as you said, but it also makes matches end for squad wipe more often than timeout, so i'm satisfied with that too. I know exactly what you mean,not everything is perfect but the vanish war change is good and the health recovery nerf for background characters basically changing the whole strategy for DP battles to squad wiling is also a very welcoming strategy
This is the objective truth. Anyone who disagrees just likes spamming dragon dash.
I think a better change to z burst dashing would’ve been to just have the character burst forwards and be in front of the opponent. Androids still have the potential to do the loops the most out of every character in the game. With how passive the gameplay can be, androids can now sit back, pester you with ki blasts, as they regen ki and then eventually use those loops when they finally choose to engage. The switch mechanic right now feels like it doesn’t function properly so I don’t have much to say on that.
z burst dash needs to go back to 1 ki bar, don't know why they did this - lots of improvements from this patch which is dope af but z burst dash needs to be 1 bar

The nerf to Z burst dash now benefits characters with full charge and instant spark. Especially full charge since it’s 2 skill points. But even with the nerf to instant spark, once you use it, youll have ki advantage and will be easier to keep up pressure. On the flip side, it’ll be harder to stop instant spark because of that extra ki cost.
I'm so glad they made vanish wars faster. The update isn’t perfect (still no ragequit penalty / fix, glitches) but I'm grateful it’s happened at all.

I play very aggressive, always z bursting. Now its such a high risk to even touch z burst because if I get super countered, now im at a huge ki disadvantage

Also, for the sake of DP meta, I'd like to make the winner however damaged mosr of the enemy team instead of based on health. That would make it waay more aggressive and would encourage stronger teams instead of weak 5 character meta. Not much variation since there's not many 1, 2, and 3 DP characters so it's only a 2 character rotation...
They changed the win condition of time out. Idk what determines the winner, but it’s no longer whoever has more characters.

You can use the new Dash to close the distance. Just don’t start punching as soon as you get close.

This is exactly why they had to nerf z burst dash. One of the biggest, cheapest, most used tactics in the game was to zoom behind and give back shots that only have one counter, the most skillful counter in the game to pull off. And you just made a half hour video missing it. Now it has to be used sparingly. There are other approach options they just aren’t as easy. Nobody enjoys being on the other end of an infinite combo loop. I do think perception needs a slight nerf (consume more ki?) to match though.
3 counters. Super counter, side stepping, ki blasts and blocking. It was bad choice to nerf z burst it kills aggression in a game that’s already slow paced and carried by defense.
Yeah I miss z burst dashing cuz it helped prevent the even MORE cheap tactic of playing passive and avoiding combat with ki blasts lol.
Those counter the dash but once they have initiated a combo to the back you only have super counter. At least that I have managed. I will admit I mostly play singles and haven’t run into much running away. Dragon dash deflects ki blasts though? So you can still just dash through them. I’m trying to have fun playing dragon ball man and constantly playing around z burst dash was lame. I’m glad such a valuable tool now has some noticeable cost.

I want to say that the patch has been actually very good, except for the z burst dash change, I need to get used to it now, vanish wars feel actually more skillful to time it faster and faster, and I feel like ki management is more important than ever, I already decided to play Vegeta scouter because his ki charging is fast, like Turles, considering also using Turles in my main team. There is unfortunately only one damn problem... wtf is that health bug man? 💀anyways, I will be playing singles for now I guess, singles btw is also better now imo, I see diversity and less instant sparking spam. I felt like there was already enough counter play for aggressive play styles and z burst dashing (super counter, side step z-burst dash, perception, ki blast, etc) so it’s weird they even saw this as a mechanic that needed a nerf. I understand that for some it can be annoying to go against a high pressure player but is this really the better alternative? IMO this made the gameplay worse overall.

Guess I’ll have to learn those two reset techs you used. From watching this gameplay I’ve noticed my play style won’t change drastically I’ll just need to think smarter when approaching. Will slow the pace down a tad but I’ll adjust for sure.
I think Z-Burst dash was the only major miss in this update. There was no reason to nerf it other than to showcase and offer the alternative of the High Speed Dragon Dash, which just isn’t the same nor good enough to make up for the advantages of Z-Burst Dash.
Everything else I’m ‘mostly’ okay with, even happy with but that one change to Z-Burst Dash is just not good, it doesn’t feel good either.

I like most of the update but the 2 ki bars for Z-burst dash. I agree 1 was low, but 2 is too much. 1 & 1/2 feels like a happy medium. Like you said. Androids are the absolute meta right now.
This is what i feared of this patch. They wanted to buff the more passive gameplay, with people throwing thing from afar, like in other arena fighters (although for me Sparking Zero isn't an arena fighter)

I think videl is still viable for the combo potential but no afterimage strike as a defensive option does hurt

A "work around" for the z burst dash nerf is that after the knockbacks attacks instead of z burst press circle to throw them on the ground and then use the new mecchanic to approach them quickly continuing the combo

Skill issue
The nerfs to dragon dash and buff to revenge counter will make DP so damn annoying now with stalling playstyles. I haven’t played yet I’m on my way home now but I can tell this is gonna be a miserable experience lol. I’m happy with all the changes besides the dragon dash and revenge counter one. The dragon dash change really only affects good players.

I have had mixed experiences with the patch so far.
Positive:
.-Vanish wars gone.
.-AIS buried
.-Insta spark less prominent (but still viable, needed to have a longer activation time imo)
.-Slower beams means easier to dodge unblockable supers.
.-Buff skills got buffed (give more dmg and cost less).
.-Trunks vanish step cheese is gone.
.-RIP Giants (nobody will miss them
.-No more Android dash stall cheese.
Negative:
.-Z burst dash nerf was totally uncalled for, like, seriosly who complained about it? Nobody, this felt random af.
.-Revenge counter nerf also uncalled for, wasnt even strong to begin with.
.-New combo mechanic where the further you are in a combo the faster you can charge a smash, this tends to make you drop combos cause it can come out accidentally if you happen to hold a rush hit for like 0.2 seconds more, gotta let go of the button real fast now, combos feel clunkier somehow.
.-Super counter unchanged, needed a lock out mechanic.
.-Health regen bug in DP (will likely get hotfixed anyways tho).
.- Rage quitting still running rampant and no word from the devs on this.
Overall the game is more a positive experience than before for sure, Im just salty about the Z burst nerf, I gotta main Insta transmission or full power charge chars now to stop people from insta sparking uncontested.
Game still has ways to go, dont let the devs get confortable with it, they did good now for the most part, but game still needs more changes (and revert some changes)
Now I think characters like Turles will real benefit from the reduced skill stock required for buffs + his insanely fast ki charging

Super counters will be harder to do in a vanish war. If you land one, they vanish again and again and theyll keep getting faster. So i think its a bit more difficult to get a super counter if theyre stuck in z vanish assaults.
If they do 2 super counter then they will have 1 ki bar advantage

That Android 17 Combo was actually crazy. It had ton of resets so you couldn’t keep track but it did 17K dmg 😳
They improved every aspect of the game and then broke the health switch system in dp. So disappointed in the devs

@Filet_Mignon22 instant sparking mode, unblockable ults, ki blast spam, android 19 and dr gero, dr wheelo, unblockable dash for giants, lock on mode afterimage strike,timer in dp so all you have to do is just stall and there's probably other things I'm forgetting right now. Another problem with the game is that there's literally nothing to do I reached Z rank in both dp and singles and I don't fell like there's anything else I can do right now the game just needs some more game modes like 2v2 or something.
@eugenekrabs8031 most of those aren't "super broken" that's just gimmicks characters have that make them strong. I thought you meant it actually started off in a broken state. The only things I would say are broken that actually needed to be fixed was giant super dash and no penalty on ragequit

I just thought you meant actually game breaking bugs and stuff like the health bar glitch currently out and the no penalties on rage quits.
Bandai doesn't usually have much quality control, it's one of the reasons why most of their games just decay pretty quickly and last by being held in a dlc lifeline. So I wouldn't be putting too much hope on an emergency patch any time soon either. Only reason y can think of them nerfing the z-burst dash was less out of a spite for agression but rather, because they saw it as a consistent strategy people would rely on. Mind you, if there was really more to do at a range, it wouldn't be much of an issue, but a lot of the times there's not. I think it's a huge L more so considering we never got a proper nerf on super counters.
There is another bug. When I was playing today, the dp match finished I had 4 characters still alive and the oponent was playing 2 character team (ultra instict sign goku + ss kefla)- I still lost. I feel like the input delay got even worse (on ps5) - the game is borderline unplayable even with the controller plugged in. (I live in Europe and I've got 1 gb fiber optic internet connection)
Everyone's just stalling holding perception and sidestepping and when you perform the z burst dash, you're basically always in a disadvantage. They did nothing with the rage quitting, you still can't even report them. Great job namco lol I wish I bought this game on a blu-ray so I could sell it
Maybe it's not a bug but a new way to win? Like whoever did the most damage gets the W over who ever has more characters.

Luckily I enjoy singles more cuz team battles just waste so much time in a match the time will pass you by if you zone out playing this game. I doubt I’ll play too many DP matches till they fix it but patch is ac start in the right direction

Haven’t had a chance to play yet, but it doesn’t seem that bad. It’s a 30% tax on z burst and makes it a high risk high reward play style choice. Because as it was it was all reward for basically no risk which created uncompetitive environment where a player could run hands on an entire team without giving anyone (that doesn’t think quick) the opportunity to adapt. Of course the people you fought were being lame about it and refusing engagements but you could have crossed distance deflecting ki instead of shooting back and had arrived at the engagement with advantage or more neutral ki favor. Personally I would dash in regardless even when it puts me at zero, ki regen is so quick you get 2 bars off a combo anyways. Z burst tap guard side step perception and get them cheeks and your ki back. Though as I type this I realize if I wanted to play passive I could just dash back on z burst and force people to play passive as it’d be even worse a position for the aggressor. I just talked myself out of thinking this wasn’t that bad lol.
Edit: I guess they could just implement the momentum storage on dash movement like BT3 and then they have best of both worlds. High risk high reward burst dash and keeps passive play from ruling the meta 🤷🏽♂️

I don't know if you mention it in the video commenting early. Trunks step in is fixed I believe tried it in training and it didn't work anymore. I assumed they would do ghost patches.

The z burst dash nerf is actually great. It was way too easy for every charachter to just launch the enemy away and then use the z burst dash to start another combo from the back. The only way to escape this was to do a lot of super counters until you had more ki than your opponent. This was a big problem fighting against androids with passive ki gain. Also z burst dash was pretty much the only option to close the distance when being far away. The new dash mechanic is great to get closer and start the approach. You can still pressure the opponent after you launch them by slamming them into the ground or using the circle or B button follow up. The z butst dash loop was a boring and too easy mechanic, now it costs a lot more so that it's not possible to repeat it forever.

exactly! it is a mechanic that requires almost no skill, no reason not to do it, leading to repetitive matches, now you actually need to think of what to do with your ki
@nathan4553 I agree, it was boring to do and very hard to escape since the enemy increases his ki while attacking. Now you need to actually finish the combo and think how to follow up depending on your resources.
Would you consider yourself a passive style player?
@Dredabeast95 not at all, but the z burst dash loop felt like a cheap way to be aggressive. I like to make long combos by resetting using different methods to follow up (like launching the enemy at the right height and using the O or A button to make the enemy stop on the ground and start a new combo or using the up triangle and stopping the combo). The problem is that the z burst dash loop still was the most efficient way to deal damage but it's repetitive and too easy to do. It didn't even felt aggressive since it's such a mindless thing to do. You're rewarded for doing the easiest thing in the game and for not using different options.

I'm A4, just won against an S1. Love the new update, the game is much more fair and a bit slower, it allows to add variety and strategy in more depth in my oppinion. This is great !

I noticed my rush chains started randomly throwing out a knock back punch that resets to neutral without any input
I'll do a normal rush chain then step to extend no problem, but if I throw a gut punch or flying kicks? The neutral knock back comes out at complete random for every rush chain I do after

I messed around wtih super Zarbon this morning and high tension is amazing now. Only costs 2 skill points and still gices the 2 ki bars along with the buffed buff
My opponent always gets full health when swapped out but never for me, it’s actually game breaking they need to fix it ASAP
I didnt like how Z burst was spammed to get in (i used it also) but 2 bars is too much haha maybe make the foward dragon dash i think its called (R2 + X on PS5) even faster

How have you felt about these changes ? the nerf to Z burst dash has completely screwed up my game style. I also play extremely aggressive so this nerf has hit me hard. The new fast dash feels like poop to me. Times are changing and it’s time to adjust I guess 😅

I like how they changed vanish wars to take less time, but im really not liking the playstyle this update promotes. almost every game i played my opponent basically only tried to send me flying to do the followup attacks the whole game because the vanish timing got harder, and when that didn't work on me, they would just sit there waiting for me to approach them. There is definitely some good things about this patch, but by changing some of the things they did they are promoting such a passive playstyle, like no one wants to fight anymore

Gotanks and Vegito look like they might be strong picks this patch. They're 7 dp so they can fight brolys, and they have full ki regen skills to keep up z-bursts.

The singles meta is full charge power but I like the update a lot gotta lab it up once I hit Z rank ill be on DP battles. Turtles have explosion wave and all his skill points r 2 points 🐐
