Can we get oil based scumble anymore ? Ratcliffes seem to only have water based now . Do they have a monoply. I remember we used make our own scumble from " stainers in oil" which we can't get anymore . Younger painters wouldn't remember I expect.
Sadly no!! It is becoming increasingly difficult to get! Water based scumble is freely available but it has poor workability in comparison the the oil based one.
Thanks Paddy . I saw that in a google result in a UK shop and it said not to use polyurethane varnish over it outside ? Have you heard of this ? or why ?

Nice effect how do you get the gold veining you see in varnished African mahogany. I tried to use gold metal flake it don't have the same effect.
