Can never understand why Ukraine doesn't just sue for peace and keep what they have.
On their end they were pressured not to by western leaders. From Russia's perspective, how could they trust the Ukrainians to deal in good faith after Merkel admitted that the Minsk agreement was enacted solely to buy time to rearm Ukraine and was virtually ignored by Ukraine anyway?
Because they have nothing - if you look at what their Duma was doing before the war, you will find that they have already sold all their fertile lands to foreigners. So they have nothing to fight for, but the West needs to protect its property.

Article 5
The key section of the treaty is Article 5. Its commitment clause defines the casus foederis. It commits each member state to consider an armed attack against one member state, in the areas defined by Article 6, to be an armed attack against them all. Upon such attack, each member state is to assist by taking "such action as [the member state] deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area." The article has only been invoked once, but considered in a number of other cases.
If NATO countries attack or put their troops in a war zone, then Article 5 does not apply.
Article 5 mandates nothing.
What if for example, a nato country goes to war, and the enemy strikes back. Then they can claim article 5 was triggered?
@@iscuit No, because article 5 only enacts full NATO mobilization if the NATO country in question was attacked first. During the Vietnam war, when the Vietcong pushed back against the US armed forces, article 5 wasn't enacted because America was the aggressor.
@@spimpsmacker6422 I see, thank you for explaining

Scott Ritter said several months ago that a mobilization would be required to take Odessa. Russia does not have an overwhelming advantage in terms of the number of troops. In terms of quality, yes, but not in terms of numbers. So Kharkov is the better choice.
Indeed, despite the western narrative that the Russians are like pack of hordes whose leaders send them into the meatgrinder, Ukraine has had the advantage in numbers for much of the conflict due to being fully mobilized...this has likely had a significant effect on Russia's ability to build momentum in capturing territory...hence one of my biggest gripes with people saying how this war has humiliated Russia...Russia has the theoretical ability to defeat Ukraine outright...but likely for political and humanitarian reasons Putin does not want to commit that many...likely hoping Ukrainians come to their senses..ideally Zelenskyy grows a conscience but ultimately that Ukrainians themselves must start the process of negotiation.
Why would anybody base their strategy on what SR says? He has been forecasting the imminent collapse of the UKR front line since Feb 2022.
That German summery is ridiculous !!! Saying that fighting is gonna freeze is German wishful thinking, yet few lines down they admit that Ukraine defenses are almost finished so why would Russia freeze the conflict !!?? VERY DUMB !! Russia is grinding Ukraine military along the entire front line and deep inside Ukraine. I would say that once the ground hardens( 2-3 weeks) Russia will make a move !!

This is stupid. Should not Odesa be a target !? Removing sea access completely !!!
Much more costly for RU to take & hold.
Not that easy, ru needs a solid drone counter and a new landing plan. That is why the ukies keep hitting the landing craft
ships are way to easy to defeat in modern war. doing stuff with aircraft and drones is preferable D; so having a harbor is pretty useless. thats also the delema of usa, if they consider to bring a fleet oversea all of the ships are at high risk to sink they better stay at home lol
Looking at the map, looks like ru need to up their reconnaissance (at least 25K ft high optics), air defense ( +97% success rate ), anti-armor ( easier than javeline ) and anti-fpv (cope cage is stupid) ability. They might need to thing smarter than using more conventional brute force
Odesa is the last port region where Ukraine can put out ag products to 3rd world countries. Russians would be blamed for any famine which might occur if they closed the Odesa port. So the wheat keeps going out from Ukraine to the 3rd world through Western nations relief agencies. The products are purchased from the Ukrainian ag mafia at market value of course, and all at the Western taxpayer's expense.

Well, Welt is able to contradict itself within the same publication. Either the conflict is going to freeze or the Russians are going to break through and go to the Dniepr. Which is it?
The conflict is not at all going to be freezed. The russians military have the advantage and they will press with it. Dima di a good job, but don't take everything he is sayng for granted. He analys things on the spot. So sometimes he do not necessarily have it right. We can guess that Korea still have plenty of amunition to ''give'' to Russia. Te fll of Advivka was cause at least partially by the massive use of fat bombs. Wich the russians still have a lot. And their own industrial production of amunition is also very important. This is why the russian military should not take the kind of pause Dima is talking about.
@@angeurbain6129 perhaps russia needs to tactical-adapt to massive use of ukrainian fpv-drones - which could occur on any front ... as usual longer wars of similar capable enemies lead to constant adaption & tool-creation
i think the main task for russia is to "work down" the remaining offensive-capabilities of the UAF
only with this step achieved they could release some of their "defense-guarding" troops to multiply their attack vectors
Interesting answer. The top russian military know things we don't know. But... conquering a large city ov neraly 1 million and a half habitant like Karkov will be costly for the russians and will kill a lot of civilians. These civilians are for a good part pro-russians. The fact of sparing the city of large destruction, might help the processus of reconciliation when the war will end.. One side of the Karkov area is the russian boundary. The other side could be cut off progressively as it will make the logistic much worse for the ukrainians. So then hopefully the city will fall almost like an apple in the hands of the russians.. But i might be wrong in my thinking.@@Betz23K

How many of you use a VPN??
For those that do use a VPN do you use it 24 seven or just for certain occasions?
For those that do use a VPN what country and city gives you the most freedom?
Thanks
Why use one when they are so slow, if the content is not blocked by your countries ISP's?
In some countries and regions within countries content is blocked for things like sporting events. So if you want to watch a NFL game and it is in the city, that’s three hours away you’re probably blocked because that is within that region.
This holds for most sports within the United States.
Further for college sports that are on TV there are just too many games for all of them to be shown at the same time. So they show the regional games as a preference unless there is a really special game going on. That’s the second reason.
The last reason is some countries block.
I actually my speed is about 20% faster with VPN.
@@HisDudeness2023 I've set up hundreds of VPN's and just as loading up a pickup with a ton makes it slower, so does the overhead of the VPN. Peoplle who use vpn's for security don't seem to understand they can be decripted in real time by players like Governments, and there were well known backdoor in the Linux versions going back to 2009. But for tunneling in to read blocked sites works for those who need that. The US owns the iCan servers, so ponder that. VPN's have value for corporate accounts as well, but I don't need that. Apples ichat is more secure, though some suspect that may have back doors too. So it depends what you want out of it. Some fools pay of course, so those companies love to tell tall tales. I guess many don't know how to compile free versions or run a BSD? What ever float one's boat - I just don't like how they are described as a silver bullet. Cheers.
@@HisDudeness2023 Yes, that is a good use case for a VPN. One could of course spoof or bounce one's ip in other ways but many VPN's have that functionality built in, so it's a logical way.

Canada been trying to get this since 2012 good luck
It's called Kharkov.
According to who exactly?
@@ExpatZ266 Do you have some more dum questions?
@@ExpatZ266 According to the history of the city of Kharkov. On the territory of today's Kharkov, there was the ancient Russian Novgorod-Seversky principality, where the city of Donets, bordering the Steppe, was located. As described in “The Tale of Igor’s Campaign,” it was the place where the Russian Prince Igor Svyatoslavich resided after he escaped from Polovtsian captivity in 1185 or 1186. The waterway along the Donets was controlled by the Russian prince: this route was used by Prince Igor the Old to return from his campaign against Constantinople, and Vladimir the Great was taking the Byzantine princess Anna to Kyiv. Russians also called the city of Donets Kharka - the word came from medieval Arab and Persian sources. It was the third or fourth largest city among Russian cities, and existed at the beginning of the 10th century. In the 17th century, Kharkov, the city that was loyal to the Russian Tsar, was attacked by rebellious Zaporozhye Cossacks. The Kharkov residents drove them away, intercepting the attackers, and in the pursuit they captured two cannons - they are still located in the city on Constitution Square. Kharkov became a provincial city in 1765. In 1789, the first permanent theater in Malorossia was opened here, in 1805 - a university, by 1837 there were over seventy industrial enterprises in Kharkov. In the middle of the 19th century, over 30 thousand inhabitants lived in the city. Since 1896, Kharkov became the southern Russian center of steam locomotive building. FYI, Kiev was the capital of Russia when Russia converted to Christianity more than 1000 years ago. Russia was called Rus at that time (which is why Germans, for example, still call Russia "Russland - the Land of Rus"; the word Russia or "Rossia" as they say in Russia is actually a Greek word meaning "land of Rus" - it was Peter the Great who formally renamed Rus into Rossia (Russia).
