    The plans are no longer available for free. To learn how you can get a set of drawings to build your own teardrop, click this link: ua-cam.com/video/4mv3ZzRZJCM/v-deo.html

    OBM your building a really good quality Tear Drop . Seriously all the extra steps and time your taking , I don’t think you could buy one that well built . I can’t wait to get unpacked into my new garage and get set up to start mine . It’s actually driving me crazy how far down the teardrop is on my to do list .

      Thanks AR! Hope you can get settled in quickly, get things organized and start your project! Ya know, maybe those other things can wait a little bit longer... they'll always be there, getting out and enjoying the time we have, well... that slips by real fast. Better hustle! :) Thanks for watching, and the great comment! Cheers!

    I am still watching very closely Al, You are an amazing instructor. The detail you explain is so step by step I can even follow it. It is coming along, I can hardly wait for next weeks episode....I will Stay Tuned.'-)

    Yep, it is good to emphasize the fact that the thin ceiling is bulging, for the new builders watching this video, it is of a great importance. The ceiling has to be straighten before the sandwich is glued, if not, the whole roof will be curved, for ever. I look forward to seeing your technique for straightening the whole roof on video!
    Thank you again for producing those great technical videos!

    Man that thing is going to be solid! Should be able to handle rough roads without worry about shaking apart.

      Absolutely! Should hold for many years to come! Thanks for stopping by!

    Wow Al.
    It really takes a lot to go into the ceiling.
    It is looking really good.
    Can't wait to see your next video.

    Loved it, can't wait for the next videos!
    I'm inspired and motivated to begin mine. You make it very easy to follow along in small pieces.
    Thanks for a quality trailer and easy to follow instruction.
    Great job!!

    Hi Al, Is there a design or structural reason not to end your interior ceiling at the kitchen wall? You went past an 1.5 inch. I'm thinking the structural integrity with the first spar resting on the wall and screwing into it for the real hatch? I hope that makes sense as I am finishing my design off your blueprints. Thanks, Jon

      Hi Jon, only for aesthetic reasons really... I think it just looks better with the overhang. Sort of like the eve on a house. Plus... if I decide to put some LED strip lighting under there, it would hide it nicely

    Correct me If I am wrong, the only think holding that roof spar assembly in place is staples in the ceiling and or roof 1/8 sheeting, and the trims on the filon over the edges?

    • @OregonBatman
      @OregonBatman  6 місяців тому

      The spars are attached to the side walls with glue and screws at the ends. Thanks for checking it out!

    Great work. Are you working off plans or just your own ideas?

    • @OregonBatman
      @OregonBatman  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Robert! I am working off plans that I created using a CAD program called Rhino3D. I print my own drawings and use those to build from. Yup... my own idea. :) Thanks for the question!

    Where did you order the Atlantic 1/8” plywood for the ceiling and skin ?

    • @OregonBatman
      @OregonBatman  3 роки тому

      I purchased the bendable plywood from Boulter Plywood. Called them up and told them what I wanted and they had it shipped asap! Four sheets 1/8" rolled up and boxed. Here is the link: www.boulterplywood.com/FlexiblePlywood_4.htm

      Thanks Papa! Just a simple 12V system on this one... a fan and a few lights. Might squeeze in 110 shore power to a power strip maybe, to fire up a coffee pot, that's about it. Real basic. :)

    Does the wood contracting and expanding cause problems later on

    • @OregonBatman
      @OregonBatman  4 роки тому

      Minimal. There will always be some movement because of the wood. But the close spacing won't allow too much.

    What is the length of the sleeping area. I am 6ft 4in tall . Will your plans work for me ?

    • @OregonBatman
      @OregonBatman  3 роки тому

      Hey Marc! The length of the inside is approx 70", so a little on the short side for you. The plans can be easily modified to fit your needs though. Add whatever width you need to all dimensions to make it wider, and for the length, the best area to add length is just above the doorway where the flat spot is for the fan, this way you don't lose the overall shape. Hope that helps, appreciate you watching!

    Is there a reason behind using two 1x2 stacked versus just a 2x2?

    • @OregonBatman
      @OregonBatman  4 роки тому

      Laminated 1 x 2 are stronger than a single 2 x 2.... plus, hard to find a straight 2 x 2 :)

      I know... to a novice, I probably ramble on way more than I need to! From the emails I receive, it seems to be what is helping the beginners and first time builders. Thanks for the comment Doug, noted! :)

      @@OregonBatman you set a good pace for me mate, havent used some of these machines before so its interesting to see the router used, starting to realise that i may have to outlay quite a bit to obtain reasonable quality machines to do the work required. i generally end up buying cheap chinese hand tools but like to buy carefully when i do.
