GREAT GUYS, JOHN WAS MY HIGH SCHOOL SWEET HEART BACK IN THE 60'S. JUNIOR PROM AND THE WHOLE NINE YARDS. A SUPER PERSON. THE NICEST GUY I EVER DATED. I JUST DID NOT REALIZE IT AT THE TIME. HIS KNOWLEDGE OF BASEBALL IS SECOND TO NONE. I SURPRISED HIM BY KNOWING SO MUCH ABOUT BASEBALL, THAT I GO FROM MY GRANDFATHER, LISTENTING TO THE S.F. GIANTS ON THE RADIO GROWING UP.
When Casey Martinez was playing in Charleston, Wv, I was his 'baseball mom'. Got to meet Arlene and Buck. Very nice people. I would love to get in touch with Casey again if someone would help me. So glad Buck is doing well.
I remember as a little kid crossing the border spending a weekend in Toronto and saw the Blue Jays vers the Tigers so I remember that stadium. I also saw 2 drunk guys cross against a red light and thought that was the coolest thing ever.
I actually worked there as a teen in 1985. Staff would be rotated and assigned different spots throughout the stadium. The Grandstand, or the outfield building, if you walked from one end to another, the first half would be filled with people, but the second half would be totally empty. Those seats were never sold because they were too far back to see anything.
Speaking about Doyle Alexander, he gave up 2 Homers to George Brett in game 3 in the ALCS. Unfortunately, he was the goat in the ALCS, and not the good one...
It's too bad they didn't put natural grass into Ex for Baseball and Football... other stadiums have made that work so I'm not sure why they didn't think of it at the time... that Astro turf was brutal to play on.
I love Buck Martinez's voice. I would buy his Christmas cd if he recorded one.

Brett does a great Harry Caray impression.

I bumped into Brett on an elevator in the early 80's he's a big Dude. That same day I bumped into Kirk Gibson and he was even bigger.
Bobby Cox was right - Don't let George Brett beat us.
