Thanks for this document. I went also to Iceland with my own car (two times, in 2018 and 22). I think it's the best solution, because we're passing through countries that are well worth a visit. Coming from Belgium, we cross part of Germany, with a stop on Langeoog Island. Then Denmark and finally the Norröna ferry with a week's stopover in the Faroe Islands. I'd recommend this to anyone having time.

Ich würde - obwohl die Überfahrt sehr viel Geld kostet - empfehlen eine Kabine mit Fenster zu buchen. Der Aufpreis lohnt sich, denn dann kann man auch vom Bett aus die Überfahrt genießen. Bei den Ausgaben, die bei einem dreiwöchigen Urlaub auf Island anfallen, fallen die Kosten für eine Fensterkabine nicht mehr so sehr ins Gewicht. Ich würde auch empfehlen, den Stopp-Over auf den Färöer auf der Hinfahrt zu buchen, somit kann man sich zwei wunderbare Tage (wenn die See mitmacht) auf dem Schiff erholen und Abstand von einem tollen Urlaub auf Island Abstand gewinnen, Erlebnisse Revue passieren lassen, Bilder vorsortieren, das Essen genießen und die Duschen! ;-)
Hi! Danke für das Video! Bereite gerade meinen Island-Trip vor und bin auf Dein Video gestoßen :) In 2 Wochen bin ich auch auf der Fähre von Hirtshals nach Island. Bin auch alleine unterwegs. Habe 2 Fragen:
1) Kann man auf den Färöer einfach so raus mit dem Auto, oder muss man das vorher anmelden? Würde auch gerne ein bisschen dort die Gegend erkunden^^
2) Penne auch in der Kabine. Das sah sehr eng aus ;) Wo kann man denn da sein Gepäck abstellen - Also Rucksack wie Du einen hattest.
Würde mich über Deine Antworten freuen.

why did you take the box off the roof? Is it not allowed on ferry?
Hi. There is a height limit of 1,90 meter for small cars. The ceiling on the ferry deck is 2,00 meter. I was not sure if my roof box is higher than the limit. In retrospective it was unnecessary to take it off, because the height of my roofbox is 1,90, and it fits into the ferry without problems.

It's not a cruise ship, it's a cruiseferry, If you want to be sure you can get on, buy it ahead of time, so online, should it already be fully booked and you arrive there wanting to buy a ticket you'd have to wait it for it to come back, and that'll be a week. It departs from Hirtshals in Denmark.
