The amount of Emily on this channel lately is exactly what the world needs.
Emily is fantastic
I agree
The last time I got some awesome extra content was from the Try guys tv show on food network and we all know how that ended. So I’m basically waiting for the other shoe to drop such as Emily quitting or something like that.
Well she obviously is really good and has done many an improv show
Never enough Emily! Almost makes an episode feel like its missing something without the quirks.
Can we do one where Josh dresses up and Emily cooks?
Oh, the anarchy that'd lead to.
I see your madness and I'll raise you derangement: Emily dresses up _as Josh_
this needs so many more comments and likes
MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!!
@@grabble7605 Freaky Friday!?! Sounds dope.
YES. Best comment and needs to hapen.
"We don't want your husbands. We just want to get high and dance naked in the woods!"
Emily gets me
"As an adult woman with ADHD, I would not have had access to the medication I'm currently on, which we can all agree is BARELY doing the trick" - I LOVE EMILY SO MUCH, SAME BABE
Important facts about the guy who was pressed to death: the reason he refused to confess was because if he confessed his wife would lose their land and have nothing when he died. His last words were supposedly “More Weight” 💪🏻 truly a stand up guy
Thanks for that. I was genuinely curious. Wow, what a horrible, but heartwarming story.
Giles Corey! There is a horrifying animatronic of him in the Salem Witch Trials museum. Or at least there was when I was in eighth grade around 2001.
To be fair this is the same guy who also beat one of his indentured servants to death, so not THAT stand up. Also, his wife was hanged as a witch a couple days later so his land went to his sons in law.
He not only refused to confess but he also refused to deny. Because if you confes you would be thrown in jail and you would lose all your property, but if you denied you were still found guilty and would be put too death and still have your land taken away from your family. So he just refused to enter a plea either way. Thats why he got pressed and not hanged. They essentially wanted to torture him into giving a plea.
Emily as a witch? We're really being spoiled recently - she's on fine, fine form.
She indeed has a fine, fine for-...Wait, what were we talking about?
Too soon
😂
@@ellielane2313 what?
the amount of emily-josh content we getting on mythical kitchen is insane!! they need their own stand-up show rn
Emily was so pleased with herself over the "man witch" joke, it totally made my day
“You don’t know where that brooms been you could get a uti!” KILLED ME 🤣 only a witch man could make me laugh that hard!
he's a saucy, beefy, Manwich
Given what European “witches” were accused of doing with those brooms (aka what they said happened to those unbaptized babies), they would have always been suffering serious UTIs, etc.
@@AuntieDawnsKitchen not sure what you're alluding to, it's a bit vague, especially the part with the non-baptised babies.
My understanding is that the myth of witches flying on broomsticks comes from misinterpretation of hallucinogenic trips achieved by straddling and sliding the (smooth) broomstick between the labial opening, thus more neatly applying the ointment where it's useful. Not inserting the broomstick into the uterine opening which would likely cause infection. Riding the broomstick metaphorically got interpreted metaphysically as evidence of collision with supernatural entities.
It sounded like we might be on the same page, until the part about the babies which kind of went off track. You referring to how the devil can either kidnap or possess the unprotected souls of babies before they're baptised? (or old enough to have informed consent to what they're participating in?)
Gotta love all the content with Emily lately
We’re being spoiled, I love it!
I am 110% happy she is becoming a regular!
Emily is back and in costume and I couldn't be more happy!
What have we done to deserve so much Emily content lately?! Oh, happy day!
She's my favorite cohost 🥰
Everyone else needed a break from Josh :p
Love Emily!!! ❤
Feels more like a punishment
Because they are listening to us! Emily is in high demand and their chemistry is great together.
We love you, Emily.
My favorite part of these episodes is how she goes in and out of character so seamlessly.
And you don't even know where the character ends and Emily begins and I love it lol. She's the best 💖
Emily not listening to Josh's rambles at 13:55 you can see her repeating in her head the instructions she was given. Same girl, same.
Thank you Josh for the great food. But Emily and her comedic chops and timing shined . Her and that swifter duster were hilarious.
In Finland there was one 'witch' who survived the water test. She just told 'em that she held her breath and floated.
Instead of death penalty she was deported. Only to be prosecuted elsewhere for being a witch again, this time charges sticking and getting executed.
You can’t win for winning and you can’t lose for losing. Or something like that.
Fun times.
In England if you floated you were a witch because the "purity" of the water rejected your evil self. If you sank, you were innocent and if you were lucky, they fished you out before you drowned.
Salem Village, where the witch trials actually occurred, is now the town of Danvers, Massachusetts, a place that changed its name specifically to avoid the association with the witch trials.
The city of Salem itself, however, has made a tourist industry, and the high school's mascot is the Salem Witches. My mom graduated from Salem High.
I want a series where Emily and Josh attempt to make a full spread of Christmas cookies in one day and they jus get more exhausted and delirious as time goes on
Cookies don't take that long.
@@grabble7605 yes but all day cookie baking is exhausting lol
There is a difference in making one batch and all day holiday baking. I have made 6 dozen cookies, hay stacks, and dipped 2 different chocolate flavored pretezels and it makes for a long day
The chemistry between Emily and Josh makes her episodes my absolute favorite on the channel.
Emily cracking up when Josh said "bean hole" is the reason I love it when she is featured!
"As an adult woman with ADHD, I wouldn't have had access to the medication I am on currently, which I think we can all agree is barely doing the trick"
I have never related so hard to a statement
I love how Emily can truly make Josh belly laugh. Their chaotic synergy is matched by no one
My thoughts on why those biscuits were slimy in that stew, is specifically because they were regular grands biscuits. Like Josh even said early in the episode wheat was rare, so the biscuits they used were probably rye, and soaked in water to make a panade before being added (like you would for a meatball). Fun episode tho! Love you guys!!!!
I hope miss Prudence and her very close female friends who suspiciously didn't ever find a husband were able to go live together in a lovely cottage in the forest, far away from the towns, where they could do all the moon basking they wanted
This is surely worthy of some award. A damn Webby or something? You guys are so funny together.
I love when Emily just wings it. That's when you get Prudence from the Port.
"We don't know where that brooms been you're gonna get a UTI." Bruh I laughed so hard. Also as everyone else says, we love the Emily Josh content you're giving 🥰
Ergotisim is caused by the ergot fungus, not bacteria, and it can result in vomiting, convulsions, and gangrene in the extremities due to vasoconstriction causing reduction of blood flow to the extremities like fingers and toes.
I'm not saying that Ergotisim didn't happen in Salem, but I suspect that late stage syphilis and a crazy priest started the whole ordeal.
@@basstrammel1322 if it was Ergot poisoning there would have been long term damage like neurological ailments. Also, to the list of why with the witch trials, you can add life sucked everything was hard, the Puritans were losing power, petty property disputes and an intense pressure from fire and brimstone preacher.
Here in Europe the "witch trials" had to do with people snitching on each other or just falsely accusing each other for stuff. It seems like the authorities didn't really believe in it but it was a good (for them) kind of divide and rule.
Why do I feel like the “toodles” from Emily at the end was natural enough that I feel like she uses it regularly?
I find it funny how they’re still not used to that stove. It seems like I’m every episode they drop something in a pan and they’re like “Oh, that’s really hot” and then take it off the heat 😂😂😂
You know it's because they get distracted or have to do a retake and the pan ends up on that burner empty for longer than anticipated
Emily getting Josh a paper towel at 17:00 had me crying 😂😂
Me too. Almost lost my contact.
This might be my favorite internet series ever. Emily and Josh are just 🤌🏻
Thank you for mentioning Tituba! I wrote a thesis paper on her!
I’m so interested in the thesis paper! What did you say/discuss in it?
@@harmc2301 I wrote about how I believe that the Salem Witch Trials were ultimately rooted in racism and lack of understanding of the slave Tituba's religious practices. Puritans believed that she was casting spells on the 2 little girls that then claimed all kinds of things that weren't true. Tituba was a witness in the trial and you read her testimony in the original transcripts. It's very interesting.
A day in the mythical kitchen with Emily and Josh is gonna be at the top of my wishlist this year!
As a Salem native, I love that this episode happened. Come to Salem! (Not in October though, if you want to have a good experience)
Also 14:58 makes me think of the "Great Molasses Flood" in Boston, 1919. A tank of over 2 million gallons of molasses burst, making a wall of sludge, but moving 30 mph. It toppled buildings, killed 20+ people, and injured over a hundred more. Don't mess with molasses, Emily!
why not in October, sus
emily's excitement over "he's a MANWITCH!😲😂" made me cackle
On two branches of my family tree, I have ancestors who were in Salem at the time, but don't feature at all on either side of the witch trials. I often wonder if they had opinions on it or were just standing in their fields like, "That sounds like a y'all problem."
Descendant of Susannah Martin here thinking "lucky!"
1:14 Josh saying that the theories of the girls' ergot poisoning from rye bread are "unproven" without realizing the bread pun opportunity. 😆
I can’ttt, every time Josh is like “she’s a witch!-“ 😂 and when Emily realizes she’s not supposed to be able to read, omg I let out such a loud startled laugh 😂 AND when she rides around on the broom omggg lmao
You got my subscription 😁
I like this episode. Hope they get another Halloween themed one.
Psychotropic rye bread would be a great band name.
"We don't know where that broom's been, you're gonna get a UTI". Lol! I laughed so hard. 🤣
Emily's ability to stay in character is impeccable 😂
And come out of it so effortlessly too
@@gabiluch87is it hard to come out of character? Like do actors switch between acting types?
Well it it's 3 in the morning and I just got off work... but now I'm about to spend 6+ hours making baked beans.
How about doing Egyptian food from around cleopatra’s era?
Emily and Josh are so chaotic together and I love every second of it. 🤣😂😂
emily: i just wanna get high in the woods and be naked
me, a witch: FINALLY SOMEONE WHO GETS IT ✨
Same! 🌛🌕🌜
Mm & mp & mma )O(
)O(
Mallases is what's left over after you crystalize the cane sugar! It's the grassy parts that are left behind with a small amount of sugar and complex carbohydrates it's like a light sweet grass flavor without any harshness like normal grass! Sugar cane is grass but it only has a faint grass smell like bamboo!
Why are you hollerin?
Any episode With Josh and Emily are my favorite! You guys play off each other so well, please keep this series forever haha
I love it even more when it's not a bit such as example when Emily is walking around behind Josh and it takes him a moment to realize what's happening which causes him to state at least in this episode "what's going on" 🤣😅🤣
I am so happy to see you two back again! Always a blast!!!
cannot even describe how much i love Josh and Emily on their own but together they're INCREDIBLE, this is the perfect series to watch while high honestly lol (except for the munchies part)
4 episodes in 4 weeks! ❤ I love that! More more more!
Emily: “I love Rebecca!”
Me: I love YOU, girl 😭 sorry I can’t make it to the woods tonight ✌🏻😂
I can't get enough of Emily. OMG she is so good! "Rebecca!" Had me rolling!
Emily is my twin, down to the awkward jokes, ADHD and red hair. And I love her so much. Can't wait to see her in person at mythicon! ♥️
Yaya more Emily and Josh the platonic people of plutonium preposterous proportions so pleased and prepared for this please
Hi ! My name is Salem and I was in Salem, Ma for a while and talked to a lot of locals , went to every single meusum in salem , and I do a lot of research about the trials ! So like , trust me bro . Basically , yes a lot of people believe it was the rye bread , but people say that when you get the fungus , you’re fingers get all moldy n stuff . So , the majority of people don’t believe it . What most people of Salem agree apon and is most likely factually correct , due to old ass sources , is that the girls did it bc they were bored . Historically , girls couldn’t go out and play and do fun stuff , so they would go to Tituba and go hang with her because she taught the kids interesting stuff . But one of the girls , I forgot who , when she became older , apologized to one of the victims kids and claimed they did it because they got bored . It’s a little wack , so no , not the bread .
I thought one of them was epileptic
@@gabrielmendez4161 I think one girl did have a sizure and all the other girls just went with it lol
I actually know about the guy who was pressed to death. They couldn't put you on trial unless you entered a plea. So a bunch of people wouldn't...... Until they started torturing people and the man in question torture was strapping him down and adding rocks to a bored on his chest..... Every time they added a rock they would ask him his plea to which he replied "more weight".... Until he died.
Yep, at the time, money/property wasn't transferred to your children if you were found guilty of certain crimes, so by never placing a plea, he was able to keep his inheritance passing to his children.
@@Ibegood I feel like I read somewhere that the property of the people (and sometimes the families) were supposedly to be returned "to the crown," but often winding up in the hands of the powerful who accused them. Just adds another level of depravity to the whole thing, doesn't it?
Emily has the best sense of humor! I feel like she would be a lot of fun to go out drinking with.
Emily's joy in discovering a witchcraft/food pun was perfection. 4:39
Emily’s character work is, as always, SUPERB 😂
(Sandi) When cooing/baking in a dutch oven, place the bread dough on a trivit to keep it from burning one the bottom. Coals under the dutch oven and above.
Am I the only one who is loving that Josh dabbled in a bit of wicca? My man!!!
I can't imagine how many takes they had to take out 😂😂😂 and how long this took to film. I'd be floored most of the time.
Can I just say thank you so much for having so much Emily content. We all absolutely adore her!
This is my favorite segment form the channel simply because the energy of Josh and Emily combined is the BEST!!
Seriously Emily better never leave. She is the best person to watch and super adorable. I just love her.
7:00 That smooth transition from Salem Emily to Real Emily! 💀😂
Emily is fantastic! I'm glad she's been on here so much lately.
“Dabbled in a bit of Wicca” yes!! Love to see it
Loving the Emily f bomb at 17:13!! 😂 You always know you're going to have fun when Emily is on.
You're awesome Emily
Was starting to think I was the only one that noticed it 😂😂
I'm a big fan of them using Pillsbury biscuits instead of going through the effort of making some ship's biscuits just for this.
we are literally reading the crucible in english class! great timing! i have been saying those girls must be ergotten, good to see josh agrees
i love emily sm man, shes so naturally funny and just her vibe is immaculate 🥺
I always joked that if the salem witch trials happened today that I wouldn’t for sure be burned at the stake , then thanks to 23 and me and ancestry I found out I’m related to one of the original witches , pre Salem named Asle Young.
No Emily, you are not the only adult child who laugh’s about Dutch oven’s and all other form’s of Fart’s 💨
I love Emily so much, Josh is also pretty cool
Emily, I ALSO did forensics in high school and I would LOVE to hear more about your experiences!
Also, love the show. Y'all rock.
13:16 Rhett sits up in his chair like “DID SOMEONE SAY BEANS???”
I'm so happy!!! I love all the Emily!
Josh and Emily are the chaos I actually need in my life!
Hello from Salem Village, MA. Appreciate the shout-out to Rebecca!
The tainted bread theory makes so much sense! It's my favorite explanation for the Salem Witch Trial psychosis
We're on an Emily roll and I'm here for it!
Finally awake when they upload
I could just listen to an hour of the banter that they had at the end after eating everything. Take out the cooking, take out the eating, give me all the banter
I love whoever the woman riggieting is she put's her life almost in danger and still finds ways to gossip about the witches accused of being witches :D
Who knew "Beanhole" would make Emily laugh? 😂
I actually studied the Salem Witch trials in college and I have a lot to say about it.
The most important thing to say is: I loved this episode ❤️
I'm so glad Hank Green went on this so I got to find out it exists & now i can watch all these hilarious videos. Not sure it's normal to be craving stew after seeing that, but here we are
the term biscuit at that time would have referred to a cracker like hardtack or 'ship's biscuits' which is why they had to be soaked before using them to thicken - in fact the term chowder itself is defined as a soup thickened by crackers.
Uhhh early! Thanks for the awesome shows and making us laugh!
I love you. ❤️
Great season finale! Please keep em coming. Emily and Josh just have all the chemistry
You what's funny is the whole "witch flying on a broom stick" thing actually has origins in psychedelics and sticks going in peoples spicy places so all the jokes were on theme perfectly lol
Going to Salem, MA in mid to late October is 1 heck of an AWESOME experience. There's so much to see & do.
Gotta love Emily, and feel blessed with all the content we get.
I’m a total Emily stan. Would love to see her and some of the other Mythical chefs do videos together.
Fun fact. A friend of mine’s 11th great grandfather founded Salem and then one of this great great great uncles was a lawyer during thr trials
