for those here who relatively new to barbershop thanks to benchmark, "this is the moment "is one of the clasic barbershop arrangements and they weren't kidding when they said in the finals that they had a special song in the waiting. this is the moment is truely worthy of such a claim. ty so much to benchmark being such great ambasadors of barbershop in australia. as a previously posted, you have to look no further than new zealand and musical island boys to be excited whay barbershop might
I watch it over and over...and it is just as emotional the 100th time as it was the first time. Thank you gentlemen, for sharing your talent, a little bit of your lives, and a lot of your souls. You are fine examples for men, and fine examples for a music that I love. God bless each of you. Special thanks to you Mr. Bass man, for your determination and drive. You are an inspiration to many.
What an inspiration to have heard such a group as this! This is talent in the truest form. No computers, no enhancements. People with such a gift as this are a rare gem today. My deepest respect and admiration go to all of the guys. What a blessing they are--a true Benchmark in the world of music!
I sang with the baritone in Vegas at the 2011 Midwinter competition. I love these guys and I love that they brought barbershop to the Australian mainstream. If only America could catch on then you'd need a 95 to win the quartet comp every summer. I only wish the BHS would be recognized for its compilation of excellence. Go BBSHOP!
I'm from England and get reality tv shows, full of mostly terrible acts, rammed down my television every single weekend, all year around....however, these four GENTLEMEN have blown me away and rocked me to my core! Furthermore, and as brian said, "the bastards made me cry!" Watching them perform was an honour and a privilege x love from England x
These guys are just amazing, I just love them. Whether they win or lose they will always be winners they have the mos amazing voice and fantastic personalities. Good luck and best wishes!!!!
Just because someone's older, doesn't mean you don't have dreams. Why shouldn't older people be given a go?? These guys were faultless..Not many performers can pull out this kind of talent. Simply stunning...Good on you boys :)
Sorry to say that they did not win the contest. But they did win over a lot of fans around the world with their wonderful talent. Truely an inspirational performance. Whenever I am having a bad day, I watch this and it makes a world of difference.
Well, art is not always about the technique, you know? Maybe, techincally they weren't so great (I ignore), but I have seen other videos of winning perfomances in world competitions that don't make me shiver at all as much as this guys. That's what art is all about, right?
@Jeremy, I think they will console themselves with all the gold medals and championships they've won over the years, and there's been a lot especially Tom. This comp was for fun and considering he'd had chemo just before the comp they did remarkable well. Can't believe it was 7yrs ago. p.s, go unblock your ears son. I'm not sure you're a good judge of anyone's talent listening to you sing. haha
To be honest i went through most of the barbershop quartets in youtube who performed this song and they are definitely my no.2 Acoustix are the only ones who beat them of vocal strength and finish so NO you can't tear this apart because there's not much to tear apart in the 1st place
@AMDMVernon , yes they are still performing. When dads not well they have a stand-in to honour singing committments. Dads currently recovering in hospital from cancer treatment. Hopefully he'll be on his feet in a few weeks.
Well you'd be wrong there my friend! at least in America its still going strong! I myself have just recently aquired lots of Barbershop cd's, granted in the public eye no one knows what Barbershop is but just with acapella music growing in modern america so is barbershop!
@daretodreamdaretofly As long as these contests have young cute "tweens" and "teen-idol" type kids competing, older more accomplished and skilled performers don't have a chance in Hell of winning. Without even looking, I bet that little Vidgen kid won. This is the last stop for the likes of Benchmark or even a great vocal talent like DeVito. By the time Vidgen is 25, he'll be a paralegal somewhere, his voice all changed, rehashing the "good old days".
@fingerglove Uh, nah it won't Barbershop is enjoying a golden era at the moment. Look up OC Times, Max Q, Vocal Spectrum, Crossroads or Musical Island Boys to see for yourself.
Did you happen to see Jack, I mean if you like him thats fine I dont want to degrade that, but in my opinion why do we need another pop band kid thats not going to be famouse in 5 years? Why not put a group of guys that have real talent, I have been singing in choral groups for 10 years now, and just started my own barbershop group and I gotta tell you...Its not easy. Agin I am not saying this in a agressive way, just a thought on my behaf!
great, can't believe they didn't win, but it is as everywhere...real talent doesn't win most the time- not there, not here in Germany... for me Benchmarks are the winners anyway:)
They didn't win huh? I guess the Australian public is just as fickle as the American one when it comes to voting for true talent and inspiration. It's great to see barbershop come up on main stage of shows like these. I wish a group like Max Q or Vocal Spectrum could come up on shows like America's Got Talent or other such televised shows. How amazing would THAT be? I know a female barbershop quartet was on The Sing Off, but they were far from the cream of the crop.
AAnd of coarse we have to let the 14 year old child win not these guys who clearly have more talent....just shows people will go for more Beiber wanna be's than tried and true art!! sorry to all who voted for Jack but....Benchmark....WAY BETTER!!
I have listened to this song like a million times, and every single time, I have used up a whole pack of tissues. My God i love you so much Benchmark.
for those here who relatively new to barbershop thanks to benchmark, "this is the moment "is one of the clasic barbershop arrangements and they weren't kidding when they said in the finals that they had a special song in the waiting. this is the moment is truely worthy of such a claim. ty so much to benchmark being such great ambasadors of barbershop in australia. as a previously posted, you have to look no further than new zealand and musical island boys to be excited whay barbershop might

Gosh! I arrange. And, this one's terrific! Thank you Benchmark for the music. Thanks for the inspiration...
OMG fabulous. I love barbershop and sang it for years. You gentleman are wonderful Final song and dedication was amazing!!!!! Topps!!!
What an inspiration to have heard such a group as this! This is talent in the truest form. No computers, no enhancements. People with such a gift as this are a rare gem today. My deepest respect and admiration go to all of the guys. What a blessing they are--a true Benchmark in the world of music!

The harmonies were beautiful and i can't think of any younger act that sang so well. I hope they win.
Great job! The Tenor sounds sweet too!
I'm from England and get reality tv shows, full of mostly terrible acts, rammed down my television every single weekend, all year around....however, these four GENTLEMEN have blown me away and rocked me to my core! Furthermore, and as brian said, "the bastards made me cry!"
Watching them perform was an honour and a privilege x love from England x
The lead has an amazing breath control
My goodness me; This is really great!!!
thank you Benchmark!
I can't compare with the winner, but you are SO Good!!!
Way to go, Benchmark. Love it
These guys are just amazing, I just love them. Whether they win or lose they will always be winners they have the mos amazing voice and fantastic personalities. Good luck and best wishes!!!!
Wow! That was so beautiful and emotional!!!
They are remarkabls people, and the true definition of men!! I hope that I can get old and be half of what these guys represent.
This was such a moving performance! It was so spectacular and I loved it!! Such a shame they didn't win, they were by far the greatest act
Class and talent! Great performance!
That is what music is really about.
I cried when I heard this...... ;-) AWESOME WORK!!!
Just because someone's older, doesn't mean you don't have dreams. Why shouldn't older people be given a go?? These guys were faultless..Not many performers can pull out this kind of talent. Simply stunning...Good on you boys :)

This is outstanding they remember of my grandpa....love them
To Tom, thank you a million. You will never read that but but you made me feel like a human being again.
Well said! Barbershop singing and composition is for everybody; if you like to sing, its a wonderful experience!
Brilliant! The Old Songs….
Oh, I have seen them at the Seniors competition at Midwinter.
The judges at a Barbershop competition would rip this performance apart!
Well, art is not always about the technique, you know? Maybe, techincally they weren't so great (I ignore), but I have seen other videos of winning perfomances in world competitions that don't make me shiver at all as much as this guys. That's what art is all about, right?
If you listen with the ears of a music critic, yes there are many better quartets. But there are times to listen with your heart and enjoy the music.
@Jeremy, I think they will console themselves with all the gold medals and championships they've won over the years, and there's been a lot especially Tom. i want to hear them forever... oh, god...
Super talented ! BRAVO
They are awesome. Btw "Bastard" is a term of endearment in Australia, the judge doesn't mean any malice towards them.
Just outstanding
I love Bench Mark!!
Well you'd be wrong there my friend! at least in America its still going strong! I myself have just recently aquired lots of Barbershop cd's, granted in the public eye no one knows what Barbershop is but just with acapella music growing in modern america so is barbershop!
Love this song!! Best song from jekyll and hyde
John Hextall i find confrontation pretty interesting as well tough never can chose between them
Excellent!!!!!!
Different kinds of talent in my opinion
I WON THE LOTTO
incredible.
Amen Brotha! Amen By the way Merry Christmas and New Year!!
I seriously felt like clapping my hands in front of the screen
@AMDMVernon , I believe there's a cd available. Have a look on their website. benchmarkfour
Classy and inspirational
at least they accomplished their goal of popularizing barbershop
Also, does anyone know if they are still performing or how Tom is doing?
The fact that Australia chose Jack Vidgen over these guys makes me have very little faith in my country.
@daretodreamdaretofly As long as these contests have young cute "tweens" and "teen-idol" type kids competing, older more accomplished and skilled performers don't have a chance in Hell of winning. My quartet also sings this song but theese guys sing it better despite the fact they were born 50 years earlier.
They should have one!
*sniff* I wanna cry *sniff*
True true! But one day Barbershop will be a huge sensation!
Where are these 4 from? Tom is clearly from Yorkshire UK, are all the other 3 from Aus?
Tom is from Manchester UK
What type of music is it?
@robowen11 THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLY...PRAYING FOR A SPEEDY RECOVERY FOR HIM....AND TRUE SUCESS FOR THE GROUP AS THE DESERVE IT!
Did they win?
they really move me
become in australia all because of benchmark's influence.
Cheers.
come to Barcelona
the best
I would like to hope its about the talent and different acts but Money is one of the factors!
@fingerglove Uh, nah it won't Barbershop is enjoying a golden era at the moment. Look up OC Times, Max Q, Vocal Spectrum, Crossroads or Musical Island Boys to see for yourself.
The guy had cancer twice on the show and they didn't get the win? The hell is wrong with people...
wow the tennor
Did you happen to see Jack, I mean if you like him thats fine I dont want to degrade that, but in my opinion why do we need another pop band kid thats not going to be famouse in 5 years? this is really amazing, yet Bieber won.. I would also like to see in Americas Got Talents some Barbershoppers and some pole cat songs!
Well, I guess, but if they get the chance to produce a teen pop sensation, they jump on it.
I won Lotto!!!
But I agree, they should've won.
the guy with cancer really looks like an old schweinsteiger (the guy from FC Bayern)
shame they didn't win though, i really rooted for them
@MrGrech11 a capella
Six dislikes!?!? WTH?
13 seconds
It was amazing
AAnd of coarse we have to let the 14 year old child win not these guys who clearly have more talent....just shows people will go for more Beiber wanna be's than tried and true art!! sorry to all who voted for Jack but....Benchmark....WAY BETTER!!
...and that 14 year old whatever his name is won
Benchmark > jack vidgen
man, that's messed up
Love these guys, but not loving the condescending ageist comments from the judges. Urghh...
barbershop
I think they made a big mistake here, they should have won !!! Probably it's the age again...sew them for discrimmination !!
Nope, it's gone. Just like doo-wop.
Did they win?
