In 1974 I bought a yellow TS250 just like yours, brand new. It served me well for 30,000 miles. I have had 6 MZ's in my life. I love 'em!
The Mickvee, do you live in the US ? I am from Tennessee and have only seen MZs on the net. And books. I have always wanted one . Very good Bikes !
@@duanetrivett750 No, I live in the UK where MZ were very popular back in the 70s. They are now very rare and command a high price when they come up for sale!
My first motorcycle always reliable and loyal
i found a ts150 in a field in cyprus the old farm told it had been there 20 years and gave it to me ,took it home cleaned the carb added fuel and new battery and it ran ..amazing piece kit
That sound brings it all back. I can actually smell the two stroke.
i just bought one off of F M place; $1000 all original paint, the pale blue color, no rust and the seat has no rips; it has been sitting for years; stale gas and gummy carb; i had to figure out that it needs a good battery to create spark to start, but no electric starter. threw me for a loop. cant wait to get it ripping. thanks for sharing this one.
Ken rides anything and everything with 2 wheels. Havent seen one of those MZ,s for a while, looks a a good one.
One of my favorite street bikes ever made!
I had a powder blue MZ 250 in high school.
Gave it to my friend.
To my knowledge he still has it.
My dad had one just like the one on video. Still had original tires on it almost like new condition. He sold it back in mid 90's to get me a 80cc mx bike.
As already said, rare piece. Imagine, how limited they were in the GDR and still were competive.
MZ invented the expansion chamber. The long exhaust supports the great torque. Changing to a VAPE 12V ignition and adding a BING Carb is changing it to higher level
It's a TS250 Lux version. It has smaller fuel tank, some parts are chromed. I used to owned one of these, but the regular version. I got this from my dad who was the first owner. Great machine. Regards from Poland 🇵🇱
my grandpa died before i could restore his 250/1 hopefully my mom gets to see it just like it was out of the factory
Same year and color as mine is . I love 1974 MZ ST250 . Would not get rid of it in the world .
The gas tank is from the smaller model TS150 (!) but that was normal for the export versions for England/USA ect. The normal TS250 has a 17L tank capacity, which means a range of 300-350km was possible. The factory colors were rapeseed yellow, cherry red, sap green and sky blue. For export also black, crystal blue and special requests.
It is original. The small bilded 0-series had this tank. Only 114000 was bild with this tank. 😉
That's true so far, although here in the GDR you had the choice of which tank you wanted, at least for a while until Zschopau realized that 12.5 liters were clearly too small for the 250 engine, and it remained as an export except for remaining stocks but still in the program. Even the 17L isn't that much with a consumption of 5-6L, but apart from vacation trips to the Baltic Sea or Hungary, our radius of action wasn't that big...;)
Handsome 250. Very clean. I have the later 5-speed MZ 301. Another good bike. Do not put any fancy oil into the gearbox or the clutch will slip. Stick to orthodox GL1 gear oil, or 20/50 engine oil.
Had one in the mid 80,s - good for flat out riding all day long (up to 85 mph). Mine had a filler cap with same engraving/ dedication but underneath there was an integral cup with oil mixing levels so you could get the petroil mix accurate. Easy to work on and reliable - sorely missed.
Probably the most overlooked bike in the west, just shows how many people chose bikes on looks only
Remember the gear oul is the clutch oil. They both share the same oil. Remember NO additives or fancy oils in there! If you do, the clutch will slip and you will have to pull the clutch and sand the plates. Been there, done that. Warm the motor before working it hard.
German technology, Maico, MZ , Volkswagen, etc
In Poland in 1982, I stood in line to buy every day for a mounth
Ring ding ding ding ding ding ding. Nice
I had a Zundapp made in East germany. Soviet era.
@haro speck I thought east? ok Cool motor on a 125cc Rickman i build out of basket cases parts when i was 13yo.
@haro speck Mz correct. I had Zundapp 125 mx back in 1976 rebuilt out of used parts.
Cool bikes
Billy thanks for the commentary, or history of the bike. I never knew the science behind expansion chambers was from Germany.
There were thousands in England especially the 125, almost always black.
Nice bike!!!
What a cool piece. That's a new one for me, but I am familiar with CZ's.
the tank looks like a nut buster lol
Wunderschöne Maschine bis auf den Auspuff, der gefühlt 2m zu lang ist.
what happened to the rear rack, the indicators and the tail light?
and by the way, as an experienced MZ rider you get used to shut the tank valve closed after dismount automatically, in order to avoid flooding the carburetor…. 😊
2 stroke German technology
Mz Etz simson etc
Simpson 50,interchangeable wheels
👍🏻
❤️
I love Billy's history lessons..thanks
Lets have a Look on the mz etz 250, its way sportier
Bikers here in Denmark regard the MZ a joke. Only one word can describe these bikers: Snobs.
It's a bike, and it's good. Period.
I'm sure it was an old two stroke bike like this that inspired Crazy Frog...."ring...ding...ding...ding"
how a MZ TS 250 ended up in the US?
Wrong tail light, not ticking over. Ooom?
Please man, wear your helmet.
Don't make people around you sad.
Blessings!
You could have put a new left hand footpeg rubber on it.
THE BACKLIGHT IS NOT ORIGINAL
Please dont Kickstart a mz motorcycle on its Kickstand, this is Not good for the Bike's frame
I have had etz 250. Engine lasted 7000 miles (12000 km). Piece of garbage
you want to sell
@@alexquinones6213 nothing for sale right now
Superior socialist technology. Three words you're not allowed to say together nowadays. Also, motorcycling is dangerous enough as it is. if you need to ride your bike at over 60 MPH, you're asking to be peeled from the pavement.
