    Some clarification: Jack didn't drown, he died of the cold. Rose didn't have a dream at the end, she died in her sleep and her spirit returned to the ship where the spirits of all the people who died still resided.

    • @CuzKatieSaysSo
      @CuzKatieSaysSo 4 дні тому +6

      Well, the people who died didn't "reside" on the ship after their deaths, but they did join together for the joyful reunion between Jack and Rose when she finally crossed over.
      I should be so lucky to have so many people to welcome me home someday, but there Are a few I can't Wait to see again!!

      Agreed. When I first saw Titanic it was during my military service in cinema in our base. Beeing young 18 years old dudes we acted as you would expect- cheering when Rose get naked and such. But as movie progressed you could hear numbled snifffing and such sounds and occasionaly someone here and there said something like if some fumes from outside gets inside or some draft of cold air since his eyes were watering...
      And everyone who heard it very loudly egreed...
      Now i found it funny and sad how we- presumably tough guys- couldn express this very human feelings.
      Also- our barracs were from communistic era- if you seen that comunistic blocs of flats somewhere it looks like that.
      When we get back in night from vacation or so, you have seen this long building with light in some rooms on and some without it looked like drowning ship, hence we start call our barrac Titanic.
      Now more than twenty years later, new generation is calling it same way.
      That was my TED talk in very broken english, thank you for your patience. 😀

    Thank you for watching this movie with such genuine empathy ❤️
    It's such a beautiful story, in my opinion, about what matters in life. Rose saw a wealthy, but inauthentic and empty life ahead of her, and saw no other out than death. Jack not only saved her life, he showed her that another way was possible; that despite financial insecurity and uncertainty, you can live authentically, passionately, with curiosity and genuine human connection. Jack's way of approaching life made Rose want to live, with such a passion that she survived even the loss of Jack, and lived a full life after, like she promised. She kept him in her heart by living life by the values he showed her, and that way kept his memory alive. He did indeed save her, in every way a person can be saved ❤

    That yelp at 25:13 wasn't in the script. That was Kate Winslet's legit reaction to the cold. Director James Cameron insisted on legitimately freezing cold water. She claimed later that she caught pneumonia and said that although she was very proud of the work, she'd never work for him again.

    One thing that just struck me after I don't even know how many re-watches is just how *insanely difficult* it would be to recover that safe from the cabin. Those things are *heavy*, and that's quite the 'maze' they'd have to maneuver it through. I wonder if Cameron actually had some off-screen solution to that thought up, but not included, or if he just decided no one would stop to think about it... 😅

    The sad thing about the real titanic sinking, it was preventable, The problem was at the time regulations said they're only had to be 12 lifeboats, which titanic had plus 4 additional collapsible lifeboats so technically it was considered above regulations. But the regulations weren't adjusted as no liner had ever been anywhere close to that size. So really they didn't have anywhere close to enough lifeboat room they weren't that concerned because if even it had struck anything and flooded they could seal off the watertight compartments and they keep going with as many as 4 of them completely flooded and no iceberg could possibly do that kind of damage. Unfortunately they were wrong. They didn't even proper train to use the lifeboats so most went out well under capacity. The story goes that the radio operator was getting so annoyed about the iceberg warnings he radio back to one ship to "Shut up". That same ship turned off their radio early the night titanic sank so they never heard the distress calls. They were however even further away than the ship that did eventually come help so not likely they would have been able to do much.
    They have since changed regulations. Amongst other things: Now transatlantic ships need to have lifeboat space for all aboard plus extra (I think it's 50% more) and the crew must be properly trained for emergency procedures and communications need to remain open 24/7.

    And Ismay, was criticized for getting into a lifeboat, even over a century later because of this movie; what it didn't show was that he stayed behind to make sure women & children were safely loaded & when there were no more near that boat, he got on, which was perfectly fine, but it didn't stop reporters from tarnishing his reputation. Also, Mr. Andrews didn't stay in the smoking room as the ship sank; he was also helping put women & children into boats, but yes, he went down with the ship & his body, sadly, was never recovered.

    Fun tidbit: the lake in Wisconsin that Jack speaks of is a man-made lake and didn’t exist until after the Titanic had sunk, so his story isn’t factually possible.

    I think most of the underwater filming of the titanic at the bottom of the ocean is real footage.

    Just for clarification: Titanic sank in 1912, and society was much more unfair back then. Unfortunately men were a lot more controlling back then, especially in richer families

      I'm about 90% certain it's a reupload, because I have a very clear memory of their reaction to the "draw me like one of your French girls" scene :D My guess is they had to reedit for copyright. My channel is still fairly new, but I dread having to reedit older videos as copyright rules change even for established videos. Sigh!

      @@nebulousreactionsYes, this is a re-upload. I watched this video MANY times before. I see they removed 250+ videos from the channel. I think they are going to re-upload them one by one…

    Feel so sorry for all the people that never got a chance to get off that ship.... Would not have been a good time if u where poor, OR a man on that ship. Those 2 are not getting on the lifeboats. They just had to wait to die. Big ups to the Captain however for atleast trying to save all the women and children. Should have been even more lifeboats or something. Sick as hell to think that more than half of them need to die cause there was no space on the life boats. Guess its impossible to have lifeboats for everyone but. They should have had more. And they should have listened to the ice warnings in that region.

    • @kanditraxel
      @kanditraxel 14 днів тому

      There WAS room for all the lifeboats for everyone. The powers that be "thought" it "looked too crowded". It wasn't, but they didn't like it so they left them off. They also believed the ship was unsinkable, so they thought they were a waste of time. Ignorance, stupidity, and complete arrogance sank that ship. Edited to say: There was also more room on the lifeboats there were. They launched them half full or less most of the time.

      @@kanditraxel Well, that makes it all even worse than what i was thinking then. Well atleast mankind should have learnt something from it. No ship is unsinkable. some of the only ships thats hard to sink would be like an aircraft carrier lol. Unless it gets like servial holes on it .

    This isnt a completely made up story. Unfortunately the class seperation was a huge part of our past. We cannot forget least we repeat our mistakes. Rose and Jack were the fiction. The Titanic sinking was not. I have an ancestor that was an engineer on the Titanic and died at age 22. His last name was McReynolds like my maiden name. He was the pride of his family. They had pooled their money to send him to college. Such a terrible tragedy.
