Hi Ciro. Another excellent video. I suppose it won't be a fair comparison in terms of size / category, but I bought the Corolla Cross Hybrid XR a few months ago. Real life average consumption stays a very consistent 5L/100. The XR comes with 85-90% of the tech that you've mentioned and is a terrific vehicle. They sell for around the R470k mark.... although picking one up at that price at the moment will be difficult. With all these things considered, I believe the Corolla Cross Hybrid is a fantastic buy. Stay safe.
I have over a decade of living with hybrids every day, and I can confirm they have amazing torque, actually better than the dirty turbo diesel. Not affected by altitude, no seals premature failure due to added heat from the turbo and best of all is the ability to recover and reuse energy through regeneration. With battery size/weight: its output (power & torque), hybrids are a sweet spot for future mobility mix, even better than overrated BEV. Great work Haval, and obviously the vid, Ciro

Took one for a test drive yesterday, (in Mauritius) I’d never driven an automatic, or a hybrid before, or a car of this size for that matter, everything you said about this car is true, it drives so well, extremely smooth, very quiet, and the tech was extremely useful for everyday driving, the 360’ cameras and automatic parking will be very helpful. I doubt I’d do that much motorway style driving in Mauritius, there is some, but it’d definitely get used more as a family car, trips around the island, beach, kids football and the usual shopping trips, the boot size is definitely a huge plus over the Jolion, which does have enough legroom for a 6’2” person like myself in the back, but whose boot is tiny. The top spec H6 is cheaper than the cheapest RAV4 in Mauritius and not much more than a used one with the promotion they’ve just had this weekend, at that price, it’s a no brainer
It's amazing the price of this car. The Tiguan R recently launched costs R1 million which is ridiculous. I know they're different in application but this shows that there's no reason the Tiguan should cost that much considering that this has way more tech and is a hybrid while the Tiguan is just a plain petrol powered vehicle. A hybrid Tiguan would be over a million then. Crazy.
Absolutely great vehicles. Although unfortunately people who work at haval dealerships have no clue what they are doing. My vehicle went to haval for an engine overhaul after I had picked it up from service. They had left my radiator cap off causing it to overheat with me the following day after the service. My vehicle was with them for seven months . Cost me 70k in repairs and far over that in finance over the several months I did not have the car. Such a terrible experience Don't buy these new vehicles in South Africa. The dealership will not be able to repair them when they break
Couldn't agree more. They look good on paper - lots of the screen features are gimmicks - and my ownership of a sister company's product lasted 30 days before I returned it with many things wrong. The dealerships are unable to fix anything - it gets worse after each try. To be honest - the same experience with Ford - at least a "different" dealership cold resolve issues - no such options really with Haval.
Great review Ciro. The only thing I can thinkof you guys can add to make this a real-world comparison, is to drive these cars outside of Cape Town. Honestly very few places in South Africa enjoy the almost perfect tar roads of CPT but overall great job guys.
Just a suggestion: I think that the channel would probably benefit from doing EV reviews which feature the complete depletion of a full tank of fuel as well as a full battery charge. The test could be set up against a predefined route which features city driving at X amount of kilometres, and open road driving at Y amount of kilometres. If Ciro can't spare the time in his busy schedule, then at least he can do the main review and then hand the car off to a second (off camera tester) who then reports back on the numbers. That would be extremely helpful to actual potential buyers.
How about doing an economy test of the regular Haval. Set up a specific test route, two drivers, each running the vehicle twice at different times of the day. Rush hour and non rush hour. Then run this hybrid on the same route.
Going to have to wholeheartedly agree with ventilated seats being with one of mankind's best inventions. It's so so good! Would still like to see a AWD version of this hybrid though, it could literally be a hybrid sports version with those figures.

My experience is that the instrument readout of fuel consumption under reads actual consumption measured from fill up to fill up by at least half a litre. What is the rust warranty on the car? that is very important if you live at the coast. Also, reliability beyond the warranty period? I get 6.1 l/100 km in a 2007 RAV4 diesel which secondhand cost me 20% of this car. Admittedly it does not have most of the bells and whistles of this one, but in an old car the more bells and whistles the more there is to go wrong.
@@towerkop That's my conclusion as well. But I ask the question about rust because it seems to be a problem with Mahindras if the experience of friends who owned them is anything to go by and I was wondering if also have problems with rust. If I was in the market for this kind of car I would go for the RAV until this car proved itself. Toyota has far more years' experience with hybrid technology and have built a reputation for reliability. Haval still has to establish their reputation. Ciro, instead of fuel thing which I know is obvious. Would've been good to know how the drive differs compared to a normal H6 for those people who are considering both. PS. It's not a naturally aspirated engine. It's 1.5l turbo. And battery is bigger and more powerful than Rav4. Haval you can get up to 60km/h on battery before ICE kicks in. Rav 4 you can barely get out the parking lot.
I don't think the combined kW and torque transfers to the road combined. If it did then this vehicle will be very fast. The power units work separately. Electric motor first and then engine. I too have this question and this is my thinking.
I don’t know about sacrificing AWD for an electric motor. Volvo & BMW made the same mistake with the XC40 P6 & iX3, people aren’t buying them, they want the AWD
Also something for nothing ALOT isnt covered in the warranty/maintenance plan. Something gave up at 8000km in my brothers gearbox and Haval refuses to fix it under warranty or cover it by motor plan
Not having a spare wheel is a problem tbh, we live in south africa where that is a need, even if it's a biscuit. They must place the batteries under the passenger seats.
I test drove this car last month. Upon flooring the gas pedal i could feel the power but apparently engine revs did not go up.. Also was confused if i was getting 500Nm of torque. Can you pl let me have your comments about what you observed about its acceleration and engine revs
Can't help but think of the many SUV's with good old (Dirty) turbo diesel engines that will easily achieve similar fuel consumption if driven the same way. Biggest difference I think is your driving style. If you commute 30-80KM at highway speed to work this will be much worse.(95% running on the same small 1.5l turbo engine) - and in that instance the RAV will fare better I think. If you did city only driving sure it might be great - but then you'd probably buy a smaller efficient (cheaper) city runner anyways. Honestly feel the HEV with small batteries are a stopgap and more of a marketing thing than any real use for SA's lifestyle. We love an all rounder that can commute, but also tow something and do long trips - which is why diesels are still around. A PHEV with 30kW+ battery that allows around 200km electric -sure - THAT would be a different story. (come on Hyundai/Kia/Mitsubishi - where are they!?) Great review Ciro..
The Haval has much better fuel efficiency but the Tiggo has more power while the haval has more Torque, The Tiggo is more luxurious. Pricing wise they cost the same. The Tiggo PHEV will be Launched in January 2025 it has better Fuel Economy and more power than the H6 Hybrid
Hi dear Ciro As a HAVAL H6 HEV user, let me know your very real experience with this vehicle. After a long mileage, how you found Haval in Fuel consumption, Comfort level, Driving ease, Safety measures, Suspensions result? ANY ANY ANY COMPLAINT? Would you like to recommend me buy this SUV? Please I need your real life based experience rather than video talks like many other guys do. Thankyou
This Haval, being only front wheel drive, I think one should also consider the Corrolla-Cross Hybrid as well. Sure, the Corolla is not nearly as luxurious, but the range topping Corolla Cross Hybrid undercuts this Haval by almost R200k and is not all that much smaller in terms of space, to be honest. I mean, if you're not going to need AWD anyway, even though the RAV4 Hybrid is not meant for real off-roading, The Corolla is a very tempting proposition! Plus it promises even better fuel economy.... A N D . . . It's a ...T o y o t a...
My only problem with these cars is the suspension. I’ve driven it for 6 months now and driving over a hump or unsuspecting pothole is the most unpleasant thing ever. It sounds like the recoil is quite rough even if you were not driving at high speed. Has anyone noticed this? Or maybe I’m spoiled by my German cars
Thabs. I have this grey/silver one on order (which comes in 10 days confirmed) but haven't seen it yet. Grey looks good? Thinking about getting black one but might have to wait for months.
The 48% fuel saving is incorrect. Claimed 8.3L down to 5.2L per 100kms is a saving of 37% fuel. If you were really saving 50% then it would be 4.15L/100kms. You'll never get 5.2L/100km consistently overall in real world anyway. Probably in the range of 6-7 realistically so you really aren't saving a ton of fuel to make up the R150k-R200k extra.
@@catchawakeup6411 The fuel price is the same for both vehicles so it's actually irrelevant but I'll entertain it. Let's say petrol was R10 per litre and you drive 100kms to make it easy. At 8.3L/100 you'll be spending R83 for fuel and at 5.2L/100 you'll be spending R52 to travel the 100kms. A 50% saving on the normal H6 fuel consumption would be R83 x 50% = R41.50. So you can see nowhere near what they say.
Great video and test. Negatives of the HEV is the lack of spare wheel, only two wheel drive and not such great fuel consumption. I have the Super Lux and it is great but very heavy on gas and the systems are pretty complex and some of it, in my view illogical. Certainly great value for money and an excellent drive/
At 7.24 you're talking about the torque in the RAv and comparing it to the Haval, you had a gold RAV driving aside you.. I wonder if that was just pure coincidence lol.

Often people talk about the total power and torque, my question is, is this power delivered simultaneously even when the electric motor goes off?
I don't think the combined kW and torque transfers to the road combined. If it did then this vehicle will be very fast. The power units work separately. Electric motor first and then engine. I too have this question and this is my thinking.
When you doing the new Mahindra pick up ? The dusk, dawn storm
I don’t know about sacrificing AWD for an electric motor. Volvo & BMW made the same mistake with the XC40 P6 & iX3, people aren’t buying them, they want the AWD
Why is the warranty not same as other countries such as in Australia is 7 years unlimited km?
Also something for nothing
ALOT isnt covered in the warranty/maintenance plan. Something gave up at 8000km in my brothers gearbox and Haval refuses to fix it under warranty or cover it by motor plan
@@nicholasdevilliers4005 😳 that is bad so buying haval taking a risk hoping nothing bad is going to happen 😓
If this car was made by a European manufacturer like BMW or Volvo, what would it cost Ciro? At least double?
Not less than 1.2
Not having a spare wheel is a problem tbh, we live in south africa where that is a need, even if it's a biscuit.
Agreed. I drive a CX5 Akera diesel. I regularly get low to mid 5L/ 100 on long drives and 6L in town driving.
Hi. It was better to tell us who is making this engine 1.5 hybrid and the gearbox.
How does this fare against the tiggo 8 pro (with turbocharged 2.0 engine)?
The Haval has much better fuel efficiency but the Tiggo has more power while the haval has more Torque, The Tiggo is more luxurious. Pricing wise they cost the same. The Tiggo PHEV will be Launched in January 2025 it has better Fuel Economy and more power than the H6 Hybrid
Hi dear Ciro
As a HAVAL H6 HEV user, let me know your very real experience with this vehicle.
Thankyou
Ciro we need the review on the Jeacoo J7 please good man
want to kindly ask if you have Lynk&Co on sale there
This Haval, being only front wheel drive, I think one should also consider the Corrolla-Cross Hybrid as well.
This is the car for me.
What's the 0-100km/h on this considering it has so much power and torque?
8.5 sec
So hybrid vs Gt? What's your take?
Same here. What’s the better option
Please review the haval H6 GT
What colour was this? Energy green?
Hi Ciro. Great video! Any news about the GWM Tank 300?
Can you do a review on the H6 GT?
What is sammy food u mentioned at the end
You really can't fault this model. Great value for money.
Saw a dark Grey one at the car wash the other day and it looked 👌🏾 amazing.
Thabs. I have this grey/silver one on order (which comes in 10 days confirmed) but haven't seen it yet. Grey looks good? Thinking about getting black one but might have to wait for months.
@@Tom-jc2fq the one I saw was dark Grey, if you getting that one don't change your mind.
It looks amazing, unfortunately we can't post pictures here.
do they have full electric?
The 48% fuel saving is incorrect. Claimed 8.3L down to 5.2L per 100kms is a saving of 37% fuel. If you were really saving 50% then it would be 4.15L/100kms.
You'll never get 5.2L/100km consistently overall in real world anyway. Probably in the range of 6-7 realistically so you really aren't saving a ton of fuel to make up the R150k-R200k extra.
You have tow calculate it with the feul price, then you will get to 48%
@@catchawakeup6411 The fuel price is the same for both vehicles so it's actually irrelevant but I'll entertain it.
@@pauljansen6650 its marketing jargon and you've worked it out.
Most potential buyers won't do their own calculations... sadly
@@pauljansen6650 83 rand or 52 rands... i know which one I prefer.
@@zimcoder Obviously but you are paying more to pay less....i hope you understand that
Great video and test.
Bro..those 220Nm are just from the internal combustion engine in the RAV4, not the whole hybrid system. 🙂
Car looks amazing
H6 hybrid is a is like a luxury car for less than a Toyota price.
8:57 if you just wanna see the behind. not bad at all, nice s.
Tried to watch this video but the sound is completely screwed up.
