That was a cool Rus style. Playing it spearless with the kremlin, pulling an easy 230 g/min with two hunting cabins and a HTH. and sealing it with a spatskia on the main contested gold while clearing the sacred sites to choke out the opposition.
This is very good idea. Does raise the question as to why there isn't a simple check system in place already post generation for the majors like markets/sacred sites, where if they are missing the map is regenerated before the game begins.
The benefit of pres-gen is the new element to each game. Playing from slight strengths and weaknesses across the land. But yeah rarely we get some stinkers.
With regards to the map spawns. Rather than creating a limited preset map pool that would likely be memorized by top players, maybe machine learning could be utilized to review generated maps to determine if the balance is close or not, and force a map to regenerate if it determines that the map is too unbalanced.
I could see using pre gen maps for tournies but for regular play I like the randomness and also I don’t really like the idea of being in a match and feeling like my opponent has that particular map gen memorized at I don’t.

a trick for kremlin in lower rank games is to build it on the enemy's resources and follow up with a 2nd tc next to it and then make a stable and archery range to lock the enemy in his base
Drongo, finally I beat the hardest IA 4 times today to finish my maestries. Tower rush is the best option. Put 5 villagers at the begining to take 2 times wood and send it to the enemy base with 200 wood. If you make a tower when they try to age up, the IA go crazy. Finnally!!! All maestries finished XD
4:35 Sacred sites actually spanwed equally balanced. Middle sacred site is near the rus player while upper sacred site is near abbasid player. What are you talking about.
Can someone explain me why Loue is massing horsemen and archers vs armored knights despite having plenty of gold mines nearby and a decent supply of gold waiting to be spent?
Does chopping off wood after the cabin is built now reduce it's income? My cabin's income decrease the less tree it has around and everywhere they write it doesnt matter, only when it's built. I'm playing the Rus campaign btw.
I can't find a source for this, but I think I've heard someone confirm that cows do produce bounty but can't be pro scouted. In fact, isn't it only deer that can be carried? I know you can't carry boars, and I don't think anyone has ever tried to carry sheep.
How though, trying to control two scouts and getting villagers to chop two different forests is hard. APM required is insane. Becuase the vills start mining into the trees after they chopped and have to drop it off at base.

But I have a very serious question: Why don't I see Rus, even when they do age 3 with Abbey, use warrior monks + Fervor (specially now that the tech is buffed) when they have balls of archers? +2 attack and +1 armor, on archer battles, and ppl just don't go for it? Why?! EDIT: vs armored the impact is even bigger. As a knight may have 6 armor in age 3, a 9 attack veteran archer (7+2) would deal 3 damage. With +2 damage, it would ramp up to 5 damage, which is a 66% increase (!!!). Please someone explain to me why this 120 res warrior monk + 425g Fervor is almost never seen.
Without pres-gen a player remembering all the combinations of said map would know where everything is at start, I'm glad it is randomized, not for that aspect but all the linear or maps designed for pro play are stale and boing in other games.
Love playing mega random. Not a fan of playing a map where someone has thousands of hours practice on to know how many deer spawns there are or if the trade posts are middle or corner for example

It's better to just make good map scripts than have predetermined map scripts but it's not the worst idea. The problem is that it's a hit to replayability as you can only play 20 maps before you know how to play them. That's the advantage of RMS as it least to adaptation and strategic thinking rather than just preplanning. A slightly lopsided map has a much smaller impact on who wins than people always say. If you lose die to a map you really lost because you didn't scout and adapt to the map. Balance is overrated. A key feature of Aoe2 is very small imbalances in maps and civs which create great games and new thinking. The key words of course are very small and is very hard to achieve in aoe4 as everything is just bigger and stronger.

You can have scoring function (eg. Penalty for missing things and imbalances) - generate multiple maps in advance and discard ones with low score.

kremlin is so fun to use, it also makes sense for 2 TC rus because it can be placed near stone and saves you 175 wood
