Here's a few missed bits: Pace Bots! Very handy for warmup or cooldown sessions before and after races, plus the teleport function allows you to jump instantly into whichever bot group you desire. If you choose wrong, no worries, just teleport to the next harder (or easier) bot. Teleport function is also handy when someone you know begins Zwifting if you want to jump in and ride with them (it's also handy if you want to avoid long lead-ins for certain routes - jump in with someone who's just about to start the Alpe du Zwift, and you can lop a couple miles off the ride). Banded rides! You know, meetups or club rides where groups of friends can choose to ride together where no matter the ability of the riders, as long as they're pedaling they won't get dropped. Banded rides make for very fun get-togethers that aid those who aren't strong enough to perform certain routes on their own by letting the more powerful rides tow them down the road. The Bikealicious club does these quite often, and there's a lot of people who run banded meetups through some of the most challenging courses of Zwift. Run side of Zwift has a bunch of oolies, but my favorite is that you earn experience for milage even during workouts (on top of the workout experience) so if you're doing the run side of Zwift and are focused on leveling as quickly as possible, always do your runs in workout mode for maximum bang for your milage buck.
All but the "cheat" code. Also; to unlock any world and route off schedule, create a 10 second free ride "workout" and you can go anywhere (that isn't event only).
I created a 1min free ride workout hack which I use to access worlds which aren't currently active. After the "workout" has ended you can freely ride the route. Good for ticking off new routes and boosting your XP.
missed out ZRL & ladder racing. which are team events. Event comms are normally Discord rather than the in game messaging. Also Custom made workouts to maximize XP (when XP harvesting)
One additional 100 km/h hack for those of us who are too light to gather enough speed down the radio tower: (1) Acquire a TT bike with your drops, but leave it in your garage. (2) Ride in Watopia until you get an aero helmet power-up, but don't deploy it yet. (3) Head up to the radio tower. (4) Once at the top of the radio tower, switch to the TT bike, then start sprinting downhill. (5) When you're at the section with > 13% downhill, you should be at 80+ kph. Now deploy the aero helmet power-up and keep sprinting. As a 62 kg rider, I tried it twice, and it worked both times!
I’ve just pulled the trigger and splashed out on the full Zwift set up. Marathons are my thing but after a leg operation a few weeks ago I’m still too sore to pound the pavements so going to venture to the dark side and indoor cycle for the winter. The kit should arrive next week…complete newbie 😊

Zwift crits...go full gas from the line, hang on until tunnel vision, then a 10 m gap appears that can't close...and then they sit up. Just like my real racing experience😂
When I jumped into the virtual cycling "world" last January, I tried Zwift and Rouvy. While Zwift has a better social scene, I quickly tired of the synthetic world and silly game functions. In contrast, Rouvy's real-life routes and riding dynamics are amazing. I love exploring different places around the world. There's always something new to discover, which keeps things interesting. While there aren't as many races and events in Rouvy as there are in Zwift, there are still enough to motivate my competitive spirit. If Rouvy didn't exist, I'd likely be happy with Zwift--but I'm glad that there are options.
@@MiddleAgedMike It's easy enough to roughly simulate grades, but the synthetic aesthetic of Zwift really doesn't do it for me. Rouvy not only accurately matches the grades of routes, but it also takes you there with its beautiful videos.
I thought that too, and tried Rouvy for the same reasons. But then I felt kind of "lonely", comparable to how I sometimes feel on long solo rides outdoors. The real life video actually made this worse! Like, this is such a cool route, I wish I was riding it with friends. Btw, do a lot of people ride with real-life friends in these platforms, setting a day, time and route the same as they would for an outdoors ride? Seems especially nice if you all live far apart.
@@kovie9162 Yeah, Zwift has a better social scene. Because Rouvy has so many routes, it's easy to end up riding by yourself. That said, Rouvy does have races, group rides, etc. It just take a bit more effort to find them than it does on Zwift. "Ride of the Day" routes are also usually busy if you like company.

I've never used Zwift. All of the gamefication and the community stuff doesn't appeal to me but I might have to try it just for the big heads. Hilarious!
There are better alternatives now given Zwifts disproportionate pics hike to £18/$20/€20. Indievelo is basic but good, Rouvy is advanced but less popular at $11/£12 or so
Not necessarily one for zwift, but any of the plethora of virtual apps out there. Would be great if you could import a gps file in to simulate a particular route. Maybe you have a particular spottive or event coming up that you want to train specifically for, this would be incredible. Extra points if it can do a bit of procedural world generation (a la minecraft)
Apparently I didn't google hard enough, there is a website that will convert gpx files to zwift workouts and Rouvy has a native route editor which also allows you to import gpx files in, or record your own footage to use.
i understand that you have to make videos about zwift as they are one of your primary sponsors, however in all honesty I was never able to get used to the cartoon worlds. I do however use Rouvy around 5 days each week - with a hill climb race every sunday morning and thursday evening ( last night was padron from this year's vuelta and last sunday was pico de los reales) as well as shorter flatter races on sunday afternoon and monday evening. I also raced alpe d'huez a few days ago - managed that elusive sub hour. for me, virtual cycling has become somewhat of an addiction. i can travel around the world and visit places i would probably never get to - when i want.

@@talonlansecond this. I started with rouvy and loved the graphics and real life mountains, but the lack of people and races (close to none timed nicely for Australians) made it feel like a boring grind. FYI, your doing it wrong for the 100kph. Climb radio tower, go full areo rig and sprint the start of the down and stop peddling. The super tuck will do the rest unless you are really light.
I’d almost hit the 100k in a draft descending Achterbahn then bagged it almost by accident on the radio tower descent on the Tron with a short sprint 🙂
You don’t have to have the Zwift Cog to use virtual shifting, just the Zwift Click. However, the cog makes it easier since you won’t be tempted to switch gears mechanically.
@@percyveer2355 The Zwift cog has no mechanics in it and only a 14T cog. The gear ratios are controlled by Zwift and the trainer. So you can have a normal cassette on your bike and put it on the 14T cog. Lots of people have reported it’s quieter than the Zwift Cog v1
Since there's no danger to going as fast as you can down a steep descent in Zwift, you can go as fast as the physics, your bike and abilities allow. So what's the fastest you folks have gone in Zwift, assuming that there wasn't some king of bug-caused fluke in the SW? I think I got over 50mph once, which isn't that fast compared to what pros can do. The weird thing is that I felt nervous even though there was no reason to!
I've spent countless hours on my indoor trainer, but I’ve never taken the step to join Zwift. The subscription cost feels like a significant investment, and I’m concerned I wouldn’t take full advantage of its features to make it worthwhile. How can I figure out if it’s worth it for me?
Could somebody help me please ? I’m a 66 years old man, probably 2 stones overweight and an ex smoker, I haven’t been out on my road bike for about 10 years and I want to get weight off and generally get back to some sort of fitness, I’m interested in buying the zwift bike and trainer and was wondering if this setup and system is a bit too advanced and maybe I’d need to be fitter to get the benefit of this setup. Can any users pass on their thoughts please ? Thanks for any help.
Hopefully Indievelo keeps developing to be a good Zwift competitor. I’ve switched, it’s completely free and basically the same as Zwift in terms of game-engine and performance. I also like the customization they give you in setting things up and displaying everything on screen. It still lacks the social aspects like events, group rides etc but if you’re focusing on trainingplans or doing workouts it’s a no brainer imo.
@@bate01071 I know what you mean if you join randomly selected routes in Rouvy. The downside of choice, with users spread out. However, joining recommended routes often related to challenges are much better where more folk are concentrated. Personally I feel it very empty being in Zwift amongst an enormous swarm of riders in an XBox-like world. Another great solution to ride with others and have a lot of fun in Rouvy is to join in the Muckers Worldwide events, open to all, on Tuesday/Thursday nights at 1905 BST or Sundays at 0910 BST. Other times too. Great fun and in real-world stunning scenery.
Teleporting! The phone app has a Teleport button when in the bot pacer rides. Tap it, and a list of all the speed groups appears. Pick an easier or harder one, or even the group you just got dropped from. You jump directly to the new group and have the usual 10 seconds to start pedaling. I use it to warm up with an easy pace, then jump to my usual group, or on to a too-fast-for-me group to see how long I can hang on.

Hi, thanks for your comment. We are proud long-term partners as well as users of Zwift, they turned something that was pretty boring even for us hardcore cyclists, into something fun. Ride On!
@@gcn Proud long time partner is fine but acting like they are the only players in the game is another. As a partner, maybe you should push back a touch on their pricing scheme. Its way to expensive for what it is and for how stagnate the game is. $20 a month is more than most physical gyms (that appeal to the masses) where they supply the equipment. Zwift is software that can run fully locally and the user needs to supply $$$ worth of input devices. If zwift sent and lent out the smart trainer for a monthly fee, it be different but as for the software cost, its just greed.

I've never used Zwift. All of the gamefication and the community stuff doesn't appeal to me but I might have to try it just for the big heads. Hilarious!
I've been using it for 8 years, but have never used the aspects you mention. Just free rides, workouts and the odd race. I love it!
There are better alternatives now given Zwifts disproportionate pics hike to £18/$20/€20.
Indievelo is basic but good, Rouvy is advanced but less popular at $11/£12 or so
A great way to pass the time and stay fit, especially for this winter!
Do the zwift points score improve the higher or lower they are?
Not necessarily one for zwift, but any of the plethora of virtual apps out there. Would be great if you could import a gps file in to simulate a particular route. Maybe you have a particular spottive or event coming up that you want to train specifically for, this would be incredible. Extra points if it can do a bit of procedural world generation (a la minecraft)
Apparently I didn't google hard enough, there is a website that will convert gpx files to zwift workouts and Rouvy has a native route editor which also allows you to import gpx files in, or record your own footage to use.
You can simulate routes you’ve done with Kikcr and a Garmin / Wahoo head units
You can get the coveted special Ride On extra credit if a LVL 100 rider gives you a ride on. Not that achievement last Sunday.
I got that one on my first ride.
@@melissaanders7812 Woah!!!
i understand that you have to make videos about zwift as they are one of your primary sponsors, however in all honesty I was never able to get used to the cartoon worlds.
Indievelo have virtual shifting and work perfectly for free! There's no need to expend money on hardware or that "zwift bikes". You can change gears just touching one key. So, any wallmart bike will may be use for training in virtual training!
ROUVY is great too
I loved rouvy's graphics but hated how empty it was, also way over priced compared to Zwift that costs more but has tons more to offer.
@@talonlan did you know Indievelo?
@@talonlansecond this. I started with rouvy and loved the graphics and real life mountains, but the lack of people and races (close to none timed nicely for Australians) made it feel like a boring grind. Anytime you jump on zwift you have thousands of people around you, races all day round with heaps of attendees, it really is hard to beat.
Any reason you are driving with the Zwift Cog V2 and not the V1 the Ride comes with?
Another good way to go 100kph is repack rush
I forgot to put ERG mode on in Zwift when doing my first FTP test, so I was up to 115 I cadence. Way better experience when ERG mode is on in FTP test.
always wondered does the 100kph badge easier to get on a TT frame. I've got it but wondered if quicker to get and if handling is taken out of equation for a TT bike
I would like to see Zwift hooked up to a recumbent trike ( Catrike 700 or an ice box). I would like see how it translates the figures.

I have a campagnolo groupset on my canyon racebike , does the Cog also works with that groepset?
Yes. I also have a Campagnolo setup. It works, although a bit noisy
@@ericonderdelinden6920 ThnX!

However, the cog makes it easier since you won’t be tempted to switch gears mechanically.
explain how
@@percyveer2355 The Zwift cog has no mechanics in it and only a 14T cog. The gear ratios are controlled by Zwift and the trainer. So you can have a normal cassette on your bike and put it on the 14T cog. Lots of people have reported it’s quieter than the Zwift Cog v1
@@grobbosixtyone how do I get the virtual shift, I have the zwift controllers.

At 68, like you, my fitness is not improving, but hay, at 68 it’s not declining 😊
Never say never.
during some Zwift races people say I'm using sticky watts or so, what does this mean?
it´s missing the supertuck mode on downhill :)
banned by the UCI 😂
Since there's no danger to going as fast as you can down a steep descent in Zwift, you can go as fast as the physics, your bike and abilities allow. So what's the fastest you folks have gone in Zwift, assuming that there wasn't some king of bug-caused fluke in the SW? I think I got over 50mph once, which isn't that fast compared to what pros can do. The weird thing is that I felt nervous even though there was no reason to!
Ive just bought the zwift ride set up and Im clueless, its hard to fathom if your not a computer whiz.
I've spent countless hours on my indoor trainer, but I’ve never taken the step to join Zwift. The subscription cost feels like a significant investment, and I’m concerned I wouldn’t take full advantage of its features to make it worthwhile. How can I figure out if it’s worth it for me?
Try it. There is a 14 day free trial.
I think the bubble heads were first used as an April Fools I did not know there was an Easter Egg for it.

So annoyed my relatively new Kickr V5 isn't compatible with Zwift Hub/Virtual Shifting.

it isn't though the price has gone up but so has the subscriber numbers
This is a paid ad complete with obvious shills. Pretty obvious.
Hopefully Indievelo keeps developing to be a good Zwift competitor. I’ve switched, it’s completely free and basically the same as Zwift in terms of game-engine and performance. I also like the customization they give you in setting things up and displaying everything on screen. It still lacks the social aspects like events, group rides etc but if you’re focusing on trainingplans or doing workouts it’s a no brainer imo.
i would love to use zwift but i would stop riding outdoors until ive "beaten" the game.
Why do I get a white outline around my avatar sometimes?
I respect Zwift. It gives folk who don’t know about Rouvy somewhere to go. Zwift marketing budget is hoooooge.
I would say who know rouvy, and now know where to go 😂
Rouvy is too empty. Good graphics though.

Zwift racing scores are a joke right now. How can you band Cat D racers in with Cat B racers? So much for racing against people with similar abilities, might as well just have one big open class.

How many Zwift promotional videos have GCN done recently ? (Other decent , cheaper alternatives do exist…. Just sayin 😉)
@@kylecannon4217 20 $ for the access to the software? Damn I wasn't aware. That's not even greed, that's a rip-off.

Hack: if you don't hate riding in the rain and wind don't bother with zwift. Tip: all the cash you save by riding your actual bike, upgrade your tyres, wheels, brakes etc. there is something about suffering up hills in the rain that no amount of tech can replicate.
