Awesome. I just got one of these today from a garage in San Diego California. Perfect condition I was literally jumping for joy and couldn’t wait to get it home and try it. The 3/4 in lever action is incredible. Wonderful toaster. Thanks for the video.
Can confirm its greatness as the proud owner of just such a toaster. I have zero doubts that that shiny little toast-popping champ will outlive us all.
This video is a perfect example of what is known as built in obsolescence. Products such as toasters and so forth are designed purposely to not last very long nowadays. it's no longer about pride in craftsmanship but rather how often can we get money from the consumer.
I was surprised at how inexpensively you can still find these toasters on places like eBay. I've used the toaster every day for the last 14 months without a single issue and it's extremely consistent!
I just busted my 1B14 today. It's as old as I am. My grandma bought it the year I was born new. Then my mother inherited it and then me. It's worked perfectly every day since 1950! If my grandma was alive today .... I wouldn't be! LOL I remember when in the early 60's they announced all over the place that "Planned Obsolescence" was coming in! It sure did and plastics too! No longer could one buy products that were "Guaranteed For Life". My Stay-At-Home-Mom used to sell Stanley Home Products in the 50's and early 60's. Those products were guaranteed for life. They went out of business because of that. I still have a broom and dustpan from 1958 and it's still in perfect condition. LOL
My parents would have celebrated 68 yrs of marriage today, they were gifted this model on that day. I have it now and still works great! #BadassToaster
Is there somewhere to get my now busted 1B14 repaired? It's as old as I am, and my grandmother would kill me, if she was still here, for busting her toaster! I think she's haunting me as we speak! LOL

I actually inherited one of these from my grandpa. He got it as a wedding gift in 1951 and it still works. I use it occasionally.
My in laws got one of these as a wedding gift in 1948. We are still using it, and it still polishes up beautifully.

My mom received one as a wedding gift in 1953 and it worked for over 35 years!
Looks like it toasted pretty evenly
