The idea of an external GPU is good, but it would be more useful if this GPU were in the form of a dock, as this way the console connected to the dock would have more power (and the dock could have more coolers to maintain both the GPU and the console itself). better refrigerated consoles), so we can play with a higher resolution on a TV, and on the portable version it would be with the console screen and with a lower resolution, this would be the best of both worlds, both for portable and for table console, a perfect hybrid
the xgmobile by asus did this.
@@dingleberries360 Which product did Asus make like this?? which has an external GPU in the form of a dock to improve the console's performance???
Yes, somebody needs to make that
@@CarlosRoberto-on7vk the xgmobile line of external graphics cards. They're docks as well as their own power supply. My xg3080 has a 150w power supply and 16gb vram. USB hub of all types. Display port and HDMI. Higher bandwidth as well. Almost Indistinguishable from a local card. It is proprietary to Asus products though. I have mine attached to an ROG Ally.
@@dingleberries360
but this is not a dock itself, more of an external graphics card, what I mean is a dock like the Switch, but the dock would have a GPU to help the console produce better graphics on a larger, larger screen. resolution, this dock would be used for this while simultaneously recharging the console and cooling it (obviously the dock would have to have a set of coolers for this function).
This Asus product is just an external GPU with some extra outputs, it is not even remotely a dock where we can fit the console and use it as if it were a PC
damn that 750,000MHz on the RAM is this LPDDR12X?

Damn bro 😂@@volf3r505
Someone needs to really turn this into a dock.
This is amazing progress and I wish Nintendo would’ve done this with the switch. Playing on the go then docking it and playing on the tv with more power.
The price is a bit steep but this is a step in the right direction.
This also will work very well for my gaming set up in my suv. Currently running a ryzen 2400g on a 30ah battery and 29” monitor.
I think you should make a video talking about winlator again, the new version released last month say that they added more improvements
Especially focusing on huge games like Batman Arkham City and Gta V and even virtual reality support
which many people would love
Please show PS3 emulation without the dedicated GPU.
Runs well at 1080p resolution
Ps3 emulation is cpu bound
@@hiroshihasegawa2468 any video available?
I think I saw the old video of 7840 oxp2 version long time playing PS3 ninja something with 60fps or even god of war 3 with very good fps.
@@dark_mode ps3 doesn't care about your gpu
Literally it’s just like getting accessories for your gameboy back in the days. The fact that you can use it any way you want and upgrade as you please which makes it a fun experience. I own a legion go myself, but also have a pc as well. The entire point is to have an option to take with you. All the comments like “get a laptop” or “with that money you can buy” are clearly missing the point.
@cambodianjesuss Are the controllers for Legion Go great and how is it using the FPS mode to aim? Also, how do u buy just a factory replacement for those original controllers if needed?
That's actually decent 😮
This is why I really really wish valve would've gave the steam deck USB4 or Thunderbolt. I love my steam deck and have used it in docked mode to play AAA games on a monitor. But it struggles with anything over 720p while docked unless your playing older titles.
Hopefully the next outing, it would really boost the sales and be a real competitor towards windows
For this kind of money you can get a really nice laptop with a RTX 4070.
This is really aimed for people who don’t gaf about spending money tbh, I’ve got a r9 7950 4090 build so personally wouldn’t mind picking this up
true but not with that size
True, but I love the ultra portable form factors and their ability to use eGPU's when at home. I'll never own another desktop or traditional laptop again.
@@destronia123 exactly and getting that eGPU I’m on the road a lot so it’s perfect for me, not too many wires or space consuming
@@destronia123 if you are not doing heavy work then yes
This is what we wanted when the switch came out a dock for your tv to play triple A games with the portability to game anywhere. Im thinking of getting a legion go i just wish they would come out with cheaper egpus like intel A350. My oled steam deck replaced my laptop and desktop paying 300 bucks for a budget egpu would be perfect
legion has terrible audio, discomfort in the hands. loud fans
Will the gpd g1 pair up as easy?
Dose it work on the rog ally?
Where does he get these wall papers?
Its nice to see what portable systems are capable of. Quite a step up from switch psp and vita.
5 years from now, laptop will be a thing of the past preferably for gaming
I would like to see you review AMD's workstation single-slot cards, W7600 and W7500. They only require one 6-pin connector and slot power respectively. I believe the W7600 is what is inside the OneXplayer.
I don't know why they still don't make eGPUs in a real dock form factor for these handheld PCs.
With so many higher priced options coming out from many companies, I suspect that this will result in sales being stretched across too many vendors, who may not make the profits that they perhaps predict. Over saturation at the lower end of the market can have negative effects but be just about sustainable but at the other end things are more precarious.
Do i need a computer monitor to use egpu
I've been interested for Onexplayer handheld gaming pcs for a lobg time over a 2 years since a 2022. But the Only Problem is, because Onexplayers are in USA and you have to pay the Dollars to buy it. Is there any way how I can buy Onexplayer from USA to here Northen Europe's Finland, is Amazon the Only Way? I've seen Aliexpress have Onexplayer handhelds too what's nice to see too! 😮😊
I think droix is a big seller selling from UK. it has a lot of videos of onexplayer, gpds, ayaneo etc
@@TechnobikerID ooh that's really awesome, love UK!
OneNetbook makes the OXP. China based. Try buying through their site.
8840u Onexplayer 2 Pro what is the name of the movable wall paper
Is there a way you can test this eGPU with ASUS Zenbook Duo 2024? Really looking forward to seeing the result.
Them eGPU are new ports called oculink. Only GPD and OneX has them so far.
@@chaosfury2016 It also works on Thunderbolt 4. I am curious to see that performance before buying it.
@@legallyharmless it does?
@@chaosfury2016 Yes that is how it connects to Lenovo Legion go and some other handhelds which do not have PCIE
Wouldn't mind seeing 7600m xt vs 7900xt with the same games via oculink
Only useful if you can strap it to your mobile device and display it on your mobile device.
Could this External GPU work with Ally instead of buy asus egpu?
Yes but with only thunderbolt 4
pretty sure the ally is proprietary. Legion Go would work because of the usb4. But Asus overcharges for their proprietary eGPU because of this
No, the usb C on the ally is 3.2, so it only works with the extremelly overpriced XG Mobiles that are only avaible on ebay for almost twice the price, and best buy only sells the 4090 that cost over 2k usd
Can this device go beyond 30w when plugged in ?
yes
2:34 32GB LPDDR5 @ 750000MHz
The gpu was built as oculink GPU + USB 4 dock, just isn't good enough
i have the original onexplayer and the onexplayer 2. they were great until the rog ally dominated them. but. the oxp2 is great in tablet mode pluged into my tv for movies and emulations
Man.... If I could plug this into my tablet....
I mean, you can, if you use a surface book windows tablet, you can connect a external GPU via the USB 4 port, it will be slower, but for a surface book, it's gonna be a helluva boost in performance
I just purchase a razer core in $125 and a refurbished 2080 ti from newegg in $300 for my legion go. My comment point its that there's better options than this portable external gpu
URcdkey don't take PayPal I don't have that option????
Just pair this with the legion go
legion go is not all that. loud fan, terrible audio, discomfort too big to be in your hands
To me, while this is cool, it illustrated a massive missed opportunity that all of these hand held PC companies seem to be ignoring;
Make a docking station that can house a GPU.
Put an occulink and USB-C port on the bottom of the device and put those connectors where the device slots into the dock.
Everyone should have been doing this from the start, from the switch, to this thing.
PC handhelds are a niche product and those who have PC handhelds wanting to dock it to an egpu are super-niche. This is why it's a bad idea for companies to only pay attention to the small minority.
The one of the reasons I like PC handhelds over the Switch is I don't have to dock the handheld to continue playing my saved game on a larger screen.
Where are the emulation videos?
Legit more interested in whatever the little robot thing is in the thumbnail than the rest of the products. 😅
Wow Just Like The Nintendo Switch
Thunderbolt 5 or 6 will fix this problem
Price aside an rog ally with the xgmobile performs better.
Is there a way to connect a Lenovo Legion Go to a PC through USB for file transfers? Or to connect two Legion Go's to eachother for file transfers?
i don't think so its windows pc and windows pc and in usb one need to be host and other client and in such config both are hosts at the same time so you would need some weird usb with chip and software, you would be better to transfer files over network either by setting legion as wifi hotspot and connecting pc to its wifi and map network drive from where you want transfer files from or old school pendrive method.
@@Mad_Arson I've tried wifi transfers on the network, they are painfully slow. Even yanking the memory stick out of the Go, putting it in a stick reader to transfer files is faster, but still only goes 15MB/sec when the stick is rated for 10 times that speed.
For this money, I can build myself a computer, of course not very powerful, but it can be enough for all life occasions, from watching movies to work and playing games on it in high resolution, plus with the rest of the money I can still buy bread or chips for breakfast😄.
then do that then, what's stopping you🙄 laptop and portable pc handheld are two different things. that custom cpu you want to build can you put it in your back pocket and take it with you wherever? ok then
@@draco2xx Then if you think like that, then it's better that I take a normal laptop, but it won't fit in my pocket, but for example, if you're going somewhere for work and you need something portable, then it's better to take a laptop that has a built-in keyboard🧐
If only they made laptops with Aukey why wouldn't they 🧐 .
2:24 750,000 Mhz 😂 one can wish to go as fast as lightspeed😂
it is the fastes yet
So cool, but so pricy
COD is great for comparing cpu and gpu times
750000 MHZ?
seems like you overclocked the RAM a lil bit
Well you better not use this to play your AAA games then if they end up being destroyed!!!
$1050?! Super niche and expensive for what is offered.
Vast majority would be more than pleased with a Steam Deck with less setup / headaches and is ridiculously frequently updated and supported for every major game.
Upscalers exists which does the exact same thing. Mclassic combined with a 4k Gamer Pro plugged into a 4k TV or monitor. It's still 4k 60fps. It cost 90 percent less than this GPU in the video.
What will happen if unplug the external gpu while playin?
You're gonna crash the system. OCulink is not a protocol like USB or Thunderbolt. OCulink is a PCIe lane in a cable and it's not hot swappable.
let me guess, YOU LIKE IT!
it feels like these chinese companies launch a new product every other week lol looks nice but the thumb stick/d-pad do not, quality seems always questionable
Hopefully people would catch on with the concept soon so we don't see dumb comments like "why not get a desktop/laptop?" anymore 😂
I can have a laptop with a built-in GPU , keyboard and 17" screen in a single piece of hardware I can carry under my arms vs a handheld, egpu and a separate keyboard in three separate pieces. No way the majority of people who loves gaming laptops will chose to go this route. It's just a nice niche toy.
@@smidlee7747 handheld and laptops have different use cases. If you're a dedicated laptop player chances are you like to play games using kb/mouse. In this case a handheld is not for you. My comment was for people who can't wrap their heads around the concept of a handheld/console hybrid.
@@khinrunite Where did you get the idea PC gamers don't use controllers? PC gamers are more likely to use controllers like flight sticks and steering wheels.
I've docked my laptop to my 60" tv in my bedroom and game using a controller long before there were PC handhelds.
There are many PC games I prefer a keyboard and mouse but the keyboard is super useful on a pc for anything other than gaming.
@@smidlee7747 so go bring your controllers with you. That's one more thing you need to carry around. Carry that under your arms. The handheld already has that built in.
What point are you trying to make, exactly? If you don't see a need for a handheld based on your lifestyle that's fine, you do you. But don't pretend there's no use for a handheld device that can also double as a console experience when docked. In terms of portability, handheld beats laptops especially if you're using gamepads anyway.
@@khinrunite Go back to your point. You are talking about carrying a egpu and it's adapter plus the handheld and it's adapter and if you want to anything other than gaming on the go need to bring a keyboard when a laptop can do the same.
No when it comes to gaming laptop are better than handheld as portable PC with a build in gpu. The laptop comes with a 15"-17" screen so there is less need to dock it.
Some people act like portable PC is something new. What put PC handhelds on the map was Valve with the Steam Deck bring PC handhelds closer to console prices.
Palworld is still in Early Acess 😆 game isnt out of Alpha mode yet
Don't buy the onexgpu there's too many problems with it
For the money I feel like you should just buy a laptop.
That company makes egpu with oculink and older devices that also have oculink. Interesting that the new devices don't have oculink. Finally, this combo has worse performance than the last version. My spider senses tell me that I shouldn't buy anything from that company in the future.
2000€ 😂
😁😁😁👍👍👍....
i really want this, but 32gb soldered RAM and no oculink is a dealbreaker for me..
Why? Rog ally both have 16gb soldered these devices are going to be soldered they have to be compact I don’t see them sacrificing size and weight just to fit a whole ass dim slot 32gb is fantastic and is a great sweet spot I have 64gb in my desktop and I have never seen my ram even get close to using 30gb
@@cobra2994 maybe for everyone else this is a fantastic machine but not for my use cases. i really like the 3-in-1 of it, the detachable controllers, the screen, etc.. i want a daily driver where i can watch all my CCTV and all my youtube tabs and games and Sketchup, etc etc. i have a Minisforum UM780XTX and it came with 32gb ram. running all or some of the apps i mentioned (plus allocated 8gb for iGPU), it almost maxes out 32gb ram (90%+) after lunchtime. good thing there's an extra ram slot so i upgraded to 64gb. windows 11 and whatever compatibility changes the apps made seems to be using more ram than when i was using windows 10 which 32gb was enough for me. oh and no oculink; i have an RTX4070 hooked up to my mini pc right now too.
L take for handhelds bro. Especially when this is 32GB.
i wanted this to be my daily driver and 32gb is not enough for my CCTV, chrome/brave browser, Sketchup, Photoshop, etc.
with windows 11 the apps mentioned almost maxed out the 32gb ram in my mini pc. i don't know if it's a mem leak or devs just don't care about garbage collection on their programs.
i had to get another 32gb stick to not worry about ram usage.
oh and no oculink. i have a rtx4070 hooked up to my mini pc with oculink and it's better than usb4/tb4.
@@ThomasGail L take just because it doesn't work for me? anyone can formulate their opinion based on their situation. it's not about L or W here. so what if it's advertised as a gaming handheld, it's a windows x86 PC. i CAN use it for desktop. and if gaming is not enough use case for me, i don't need to buy it.
Not sure who this is aimed at just buy a laptop.
The only comment which makes sense
Fr, like you're just making the handheld less portable
The argument "just get a Laptop" for the Handheld market is old and very dumb.
A handheld is a gaming OG device for someone like play outside ..can't be compared to laptop .. when you go home it's preferred to play with larger screen and source of power
I usually game while lying down in bed so handhelds make sense to me. Not totally sold on an overpriced egpu though.
For $700+ Doesn't seem worth it tbh
真的他们都说为什么不买笔记本电脑还自带屏幕
hate to say it geforce ultimate tier and the razer edge and a 120hz 9-1 adapter with 900mbs Ingram better and cost way less
Buying an eGPU for a handheld device is essentially the same as buying a subcompact car then attaching it to a semi trailer because you need more space in the trunk.
