- Here is a beautiful HD POV of the Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland in California! This video includes both sides of the ride! Filmed in September 2013 and includes the new style bobsled cars. Filmed & Edited by Robb Alvey - www.themeparkreview.com
A great ride especially for being over half a century old, there's always something special about the rides Walt Disney himself was a part of creating.
"SEE YOU LATER HAROLD!"
Oh my god, I cracked up at that.
WarriorBazooka omg same 😂 he is so funny
Jaclyn of Jaclynia we should maintain the funny.
Rider: Monster, please!
Harold: *ROAR*
Rider: Thank you!

LOL :D
lol thats funny
yeah it is funny
It's the Rocky Horror Matterhorn Show!
Man, I would love to have this roller coaster in my back yard and just ride it all day.
rctxtreme yeah, spines be damned
@Kandy B True, But that's the cool old school part I love about it.
rctxtreme especially now lol
Oml same!!!
Who doesnt
I remember when I was like 6, my mom forced me to go on this ride and I was crying in line and then when we got on I was the VERY first seat since I had to sit in between my moms legs. Oh jeez, I remember wrapping my arms around the rail and closing my eyes and yelling out loud to God and apologizing for everything bad I did hahahaha. Now looking back I'm so embarrassed because it's such a kiddy ride compared to the other rides I've been on now a days.
Well you were only a little kid.
I had a Similar thing happen to me like that when I was younger
Favorite ride when I went going soon again
So no ones gonna talk about the
“SpLoOsH” at 4:41 😂
Kaiya B LOL
So your a fellow victim of the quarantine also
@@collincoolisGOATED yeah same
Great camera work, really smooth, which is virtually impossible on the Matterhorn since it's so rough and bumpy.
Agreed, it was a great ride...
You should remake this video with the new Matterhorn. The yetis are now animatronic and reach out at you, and at the beginning of the ride on the lift hill where those blue "windows" are they put in video to make it look like the yeti saw you and is now chasing you. Also the sound of the yeti chasing you follows you throughout the ride now
That is so cool!
😱😱😱
I love it like this.
Ik it’s so scary actually and it’s SUPPPPPPPERRRRR LOUD
What do yetis have to do with the Matterhorn? They are Hymalayan......different continent!
"Monster please!"
'Rowwwwrrrrr!!!"
"Thank you!"
What. A. Douchebag. Bet he has a fanny pack and wears one of those Mickey wizard hats all day. He could be Sue Heck's future husband. Lol
@chasenip2 This could also be a coping mechanism. If he’s actually slightly scared. Some people scream when they’re scared. Other people, like me, laugh when they’re scared. And some people just say weird things, this is their mind trying to get them to focus on something else.
😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The best time to be a dork is when you are on a roller coaster… LOL
The Matterhorn is such a fun ride, and since there's two tracks that means you get to ride it twice! Plus it's the first modern steel roller coaster, so it has a wonderful place in roller coaster history.
Disneyland isn't where u go to ride coasters with loops and 300 foot drops. Disneyland is where the other parks learn from the masters at how to run an amusement park. No Disneyland wasn't the first park but he set the bar. Disneyland is about family and nostalgia. 3 billion people between the disney parks can't be wrong.
You can also go there to say MONSTER PLEASE
I agree, not a lot of people take the time for taking pictures and remembering what it was like back in the day. If people were willing to save up money to stay at Disneyland for a couple days, vacations would be a lot less stressful.
memphoscorpio Very good point. I've never been to Disneyland but I'd like to go and compare it to Walt Disney World in Florida which I've been to several times. I live in PA so I'm much closer to Florida than Cali. A friend of mine said Disneyland is like a smaller version of the Magic Kingdom in Disney World but with a few differences. California Adventure looks pretty cool too. I like the variety of parks in Florida though and they have the original Tower of Terror which everyone says is by far the best. Disney overall though is about nostalgia and family and they pretty much succeed over all other parks. There is one park though that I'm very close to that creates that same feeling but in a different way and that is Knoebels Amusement Park in Elysburg, PA. It's a smaller, family owned amusement park BUT don't let the size fool you. They offer free admission and parking, food and prices that blow every other park away, and some of the best roller coasters and flat rides out there. They pride themselves on being an old fashioned, family friendly amusement park and they succeed. I've been going there since I was a toddler so the nostalgia level is high for me. Once you take your kids to their "Kiddieland" though, they'll be hooked. If you've never been there, it's worth the trip. Oh and they have the best carousel in the world, you can still catch the rings on it!
Aww I missed it I was scared of the ride this year until I saw this my dad had to go on it
"3 billion people between the disney parks can't be wrong." lol, there's a sucker born every minute
I don't care what anybody says, the audio adds to the fun of the ride!!! Keep up the
great videos with audio!!!!!
I think it's funny that a lot of you take the time to comment about how "Expedition Everest is way better than the Matterhorn" simply because of the thrill. Let's take a moment and evaluate this, yeah? The Matterhorn was built 4 years after Disneyland was first created, which was 55 years ago. There have been slight renovations on this ride, as needed, but it is centered around young kids, not just adults. Most younger children don't like huge roller coasters, that's a fact. Yes, some do, but in general, smaller coasters give kids a thrill without being over the top. With that being said, Expedition Everest was created in 2006, nearly 47 years AFTER the Matterhorn. Technology wasn't as advanced in 1959 as it is now, so why do you expect this ride to be JUST AS THRILLING as Expedition Everest? They have similar themes, yes, but they aren't going to rebuild this ride to make it as equally thrilling as Expedition Everest, they each have their perks, Sorry.
Yeah, expedition Everest was disneys first roller coaster.
Also, this was the first tubular steel coaster built
I've ridden EE many times but Matterhorn looks like a lot of fun. Wish it was on the East coast. I visited DL @ 1989 or so and didn't ride Matterhorn. I think the line was too long. Guess I missed my chance.
That is the most gorgeous coaster I've seen yet. Not particularly frightening or what-have-you, but the setup was BEAUTIFUL!
Yeah, well, you don't know what you're talking about because the actual name of the monster is "Harold." But thank you for playing!
ah yes, when the “reply” button wasnt there so people had to make separate comments replying to each other
The commentary is so obnoxious. Otherwise its a great video!
Agreed--I get so annoyed with those who think they're the entertainment, rather than ride itself.
The Angry Fireball they are spitting straight facts you need to accept some people opinions 👍
@@alainrichard8569 Make your own video.
I did this ride back in 2005 when I was 16 and I probably didn't appreciate the beautiful simplicity of this ride. It's a classic and looks and is so much fun.
"Here we go we like getting wet!"
😏
SPLOOSH!
you know he ainn ever been wet in his life
*splash*
That's what she said.
My three year old makes me play this video EVERY night before bed. She knows exactly when you say, “Monster, please!” and will do right along with you. Thanks for keeping her happy. Lol!
At approx 1:48-1:49 they painted and fixed the spot called Dolly's Dip, where supposedly a women called Dolly fell or jumped out of her vehicle into the path of the other side's oncoming vehicle back in 1984. They had to partially take apart the track to take away her crushed remains. Look it up on google, it's true!
lol You named the monster Harold, your commentary is priceless.
+CoasterGlitch That's actually the yeti's name amongst Imagineers.
"Remain seated please.....Cinnamon Toast and tacos, pour some more." 🙌
You watch BriBerry Videos!? If so then you are, "a beautiful palm tree" 🌴
Erika Marie
Racist.
“Remain seated please.....Permanecer sentados por favor.” get it right 🙄🙄
The Angry Fireball and you learn how to get a life.
even the most hardened coaster enthusiast with over 200 credits from all over the world smiles when on this ride. how can you not?! it's not only a special coaster, and part of historic and cultural value..... but for many, it's just so damn nostalgic. i always see first-time adult coaster riders and small children get scared lining up... thinking if they should go through with it or not. I always tell them that this is the perfect ride for them, that the intensity is so low, but just the right amount for a maiden coaster voyage. i really really love this ride... so so much.
We need a ride like this that goes through a swamp
By far my favorite Disney ride :). I remember when I was seven and was pressured into going on the "California Screaming" and the whole ride I balled and sobbed because I was so scared! Not exactly what I expected! So many great memories at that amusement park and I cant wait till my baby sister is here to experience a new trip with us :) It certainly is a great amusement park if you can afford it ;)
0:51 "Monster, please! Thank you!" I cracked up at that!
I initially thought that was part of the ride but upon watching other videos I realised it was actually the man who made this video saying it.
I would rather people just be quiet and let others experience it for themselves rather than someone predicting the ride. Sorry, just my opinion...
My favorite ride at Disneyland, seriously. Nothing better than a night time ride or 10. It looks like they refurbished it a bit, and the end third of the ride is not as slow as it was. Like the new bobsleds as well. Great video! Monster please!
I love the guy who filmed this! He’s so funny!😂
I have several times when I was working at the park, but it's a *little* hard to get to when you're whipping around the mountain at 25MPH!
"See ya later herald" 😂😂
Harold*
Lol I love it
LOL!!!!😂😂😂😂 "I'd like a monster please!" *monster eyes flash* "thank you very much" laughed so hard😂😂😂
"i'd like the monster please , answere, where are you ? Rrrrrrrrrr Thank You" x) i love it XD
3:33 "Seeya later, Harold!"
That's a good name. I'm glad the Cast Members named him Harold. :)
I'm going to Disneyland tomorrow can't wait
how was ur trip
Shannen McGuire She's dead.
Joshua King Probably she went to the Tower of terror xD
Lucky :(
I rode this in 1965 with my 65 year old grandfather, and thought he was a bit ancient to be riding this. Now that I'm 65, I plan to continue riding Matterhorn until I drop. You're never too old for the bobsleds! Although, I prefer major coasters now......
Does anyone know where Dolly's Drop is?? On the right side?
Yes, Dolly's Dip is @1:48, where the Tomorrowland side dips down, and Fantasyland side has the bridge across...
Go for the right side......at night.
I don't know why, but i've been watching coaster videos all day.
Same and waterpark rides 😂
MONSTER PLEASE! **ROAR** Thank you!
“Monster please!” I love it. This is my favorite Matterhorn video!
I'm a little afraid to ride this ride because of the old deaths that have happened in it. But as fun as this looks, I think Expedition Everest beats this any day.
I'm pretty sure all deaths at Disney were people not being smart. Such as taking of seat belts (but now you cant unbuckel some till they are releasd)and trying to jump cars(this Happen on an old ride that is no longer in disney parks). None of the deaths were due to mechanical problems (so I've read)
Yes, that is true; The jumping cars death was on the People Mover, so I believe. That ride is still in Disneyworld currently. I bet most of these deaths were stupid teenagers. But hey, I can still have fears though. :)
True. I was just hoping that would make you less scared. Because disneyland is to magical to be scared! (:
I'm really scared when it comes to fast rides or rides with drops. I was really scared on Splash Mountain, so I never saw myself going on the Matterhorn. It was the last thing i'd ever do. My first time on the Matterhorn was last Friday. I hesitated to go on, but I finally did. It was very enjoyable and it is very secure. I could say that those 5 years I spent fearing the Matterhorn was a waste. I'm going on it whenever I go to Disneyland from now on. :) They have a seatbelt so don't worry about accidents. I am very big on safety when it comes to rides so you'll be fine. :)
Matterhorn was opened in 1959. Expedition Everest was a newer ride in Disney World. Don't compare each other there are both great ride. The death what you mean is a man trying to stand up during the ride and was hit by a rock because he was not following the rules.
Your “monster, please!” Made me laugh so much, I’m starting to think my sense of humor might be broken
"Monster Please!"
(ROAR!)
"Thank You!"
LOLZ
Ikr people are hating on it but I find it super funny
XD
This 2013 Matterhorn is just so nostalgic. Even though I never went on the 2013 version, it still is just so much better. The monster is 2013 was actually scary and now the monster just sounds like someone blowing their nose. Sometimes I wish Disney would just keep the rides the same. The rides still very good though!☃️❄️
Why is everyone hating on him? I love his commentary! I would be laughing! In fact I did laugh at him! Lighten up people! Enjoy life a little. You only get one!
People are angry you were talking during this, but I found it entertaining! It added a bit of comedy to the video. "Monster please! Thank you!" Was so funny. Great video.
Please somebody time stamp on here where “dollys dip” is???
@1:48
_Sanabria_ it’s weird, that I actually heard a little girl scream at the place called “dollys dip”
Random Human well then idk
But it’s so sad
Oh yeah ... the memories of this and all Disney rides... I lived for Disneyland days...!!!!!!
I get sad thinking about it honestly. The memories.
SPLOOSH
The Matterhorn epitomizes the strengths of Disney as a whole: Their rides might not be the most thrilling or intense (their most intense rides at Disneyland and Cali Adventure, the two I visited, was a looping roller coaster and a launched freefall tower). However, they are incredibly well themed, so while they aren't the most impressive in terms of raw stats (Matterhorn maxes out at 27 mph), they're tons of fun regardless. Second favorite purebred coaster I've ridden in Disneyland, but to be fair, it's not competing against much.
The hate is strong on here lol, but honestly idc if the guy is yelling or not he's enjoying himself! So who cares? When he said Monster Please I chuckled at that cuz it was on point lol. You guys just need to chill.
Oh wow, I knew of this ride obviously, it's a legend, but I've never seen a POV. This looks pretty fun actually, esp considering its 60 years old.
Expedition Everest blows this thing out of the water.
What ever, Disneyland doesn't have to take that from THE NON FIRST STEEL, DUEL, AND MULTIPLE TRAIN COASTER.
Matterhorn = 1955
Expedition Everest = 2005
The yeti at matterhorn its more scariest and the ride its funniest
This was the first steel coaster EVER
+Bobby Alarcon Well expedition everest has bigger drops and is the most expensive rollercoaster built ad running in the WORLD and the first rollercoaster to go backwards and fowards. BEAT THAT XD
That bob seems very cool ! Good paced, good sensation of speed. Ride seems to g o forever. I'd like to try it !
Guys i went to disneyland last week the madderhorn got redone in 2015 its so much scarier and the front seats get soaked at the end. 👍🏻 if u liked this info
Are there any big dips? Is it as bad as the Space Mountain ride cuz I love that ride. Or is it faster and bigger dips?
+Melissa Gonzalez the dips arent the worst part mostly just speed and swoops and the effects that scared me. It is about the same scariness as space mountain however i am 10 so lots of things may be scarier for me than you
Your commentary is the best thing ever!
All I could think of when watching this was the woman who fell off the bobsled and was crushed... Ugh why.
RandomStuffMego whaat omg i was so excited to get on this prepping myself and then I see your comment:( now im scared
@@priscillaudave4241 I never heard about the woman getting crushed but don't let that freak you out, I'm not a rollercoaster person but I love this ride it's so laid back and just fun and not scary.
This happened in 1984 because her seat belt was not fastened. This was 36 years ago! (A boy died in 1964, but that's all)
@@priscillaudave4241 yes, they where not sure if she unbuckled her seatbelt or it malfunctioned, but she flew out the bob sed and well, you can see where I’m going. In the 60s a boy died 3 days after because he stood up on it and got hurt
Thank you so much for recording this; I miss Disney and CA so much and so at least I can live vicariously through this video. ;)
I like Harold.
I rode this when I was 6... I was unfazed. I didn’t cry.
I love the Matterhorn, I just hate how it's so rough on your back
I know it throws you hard on the back seat
Da Tube That's what my mom says lol
yeah I was in the back of the ride and I was sore for days :-(
When I was like 6 I went on it and I hit my head HARD and started crying
If you're suggesting the video is sped up, it isn't. This is exactly how it rode at about 10:30am this morning.
"Monster please! Thank you!"
Me: 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Awesome roller coaster. Rode it for the first time this year, I was very impressed.
I cried on this ride the red eyes scared me because we went on at night time so all u could see was the eyes
yeah me too, i think i'll ride this during the day time from now on
In the words of my dad, "Watch out for Harold" along with "Yoo hoo, Harold". ROFL! I loved this ride when I was younger. Harold did scare the shit out of me. Please don't talk to Harold anymore, because it's distracting to other bobsledders.
One of the few rides that look homemade, and super fun at the same time :)
Nice vid again Rob, keep them coming ;)
Why do y'all get on this man's channel and complain. He's out here having fun and you mad for no reason. lmao
When he siad "See you later Harold!" I was dying laughing!!!
"Monster please!" Haha that was awesome!
1:59 I can hear the dreaded music... You just can't escape it!
To all the people saying he is annoying, this is his ride experience so don't judge him. If he wants to make the best of the ride he will so stop.
"Permanecer sentados por favor"
"Exactly"
Fun video. Every time I visit Disneyland this ride is closed for maintenance. It was fun to take a virtual ride on it this afternoon.
"I'm gonna go get me some cinnamon toasted tacos"
Don't you mean churros?
Man, I thought I was the only one getting murdered by those SLEDS... Glad to know it's not just me!
OMG HE SAID HAROLD THE GUY THAT WAS SEATING US SAID "Watch out for Harold" (yeti screams) "oh there he is now!"
I miss the old matterhorn! The glowing eyes, the ice crystals...SO MUCH BETTER than the new one! I love the new one as well, but I definitely miss those things...
"Monster please!"
*Harold roars*
"Thank you!" 😂
I love the Matterhorn, but THIS is the best way to enjoy it without requiring chiropractic treatment afterward!
MONSTERS PLEASE
Thaaaank yoooooou!
Nice ride, with the splash, very original!
"Monster please! Thank you!"
Disney do it better for sure. The landscaping around Disney coasters is awesome. Certainly adds to the experience.
if you don't like the audio, mute the video, it's not that hard.
Julian Cobb true
Julian Cobb IT IS HARD CUZ ITS SOO AWSOME
How are you supposed to know if you don't like it without hearing it first ?
You can’t mute someone in real life though! 😆
If you’re unfortunate enough to sit next to someone who’s ridden a thousand times and all they keep doing the whole way round is letting you they’re an expert and what’s about to happen it’s REALLY annoying.
0:49 "MONSTER PLEASE!" *ROARS* "THANK YOU!" XD
Great now I can do this with the coronavirus on the lose
Thanks for riding both the fantasyland and tomorrow land tracks!
I remember going on this at night during the winter
Nguyen Luu samething but I went in 2014
Nguyen Luu I bet that was chilly!
'See ya later Harold!' Please keep making great in-ride commentaries :D
I go here every week :-D
Living in the theme park capital of the world makes sence for you guys :D

Frédolino what
??
I think my comment is clear and understandable , although English is not my native language
So: what didn't you understand ??
True, but I also wanted to cuss him out in the comments first.
Yes, and we’re also just as free as you to express our opinions. Just saying.
Sploosh
😂your commentary is gold!
Lol monster please........rawwwwwww.........thank you
Haha the ending! Love your sense of humor
"MONSTER PLEASE"...."THANK YOU"
