This is not an actual epaper/eink display. It's just mimicing the technology. This is TFT LCD, it's all software. We don't have the technology to layer eink ontop of an LCD like this yet. And certainly not for this price.
Yeah there isnt anything that makes epaper, epaper. It doesn't have sunlight readability, there isn't anything that reduces blue light, and it does not reduce eye strain. It's just a software filter on the output, you can just use an app for that. You can also get paper look screen protectors.
I have the TCL NXTPAPER 11 that you briefly showed at the beginning of this video and have been pleased with it overall. It is easier on the eyes than regular LCD or even OLED, imo. I bought the 10 5G that you are reviewing here because it promised advancement in the screen quality and processor speed. I've returned it to Verizon for one reason. The screen is a downgrade in quality from the 11. It appears dimmer and the colors looked really washed out next to the 11. I actually tried a second unit on exchange just to see if I had a dud. Nope. Still a dimmer screen and not quite as crisp of text to my eyes. Have you noticed that in comparison of the two?
Could you let us know if in the settings from swiping down you found a "second screen" option to Miracast from windows? It was available on the nxtaper 11.
This looks pretty good as a solution for reading comics. I use a kindle as a reading device a lot and prefer the eink display but it is black and white. It would also be nice to have something outside Amazon's ecosystem but still able to load Amazon content.
Great overview! I would've shown the `Darker display mode` - my Nxtpaper 40 4G strobes a bit under that extreme depending on the image. However, it's brilliant for evening reading. Linwood's Butterfly app is great combo for the stylus.
If you still have the device, could you check if when swiling down you see a "second screen" option such as with the nxtpaper 11? It is an option to use it as a second screen with windows using Miracast
Don't have anything to really say But I'll comment anyway Give those engagement numbers some juice A supportive human inspired boost A nice review, informing yet succinct Unlike this comment (which is) grasping and indistinct Farewell for now and have a pleasant day Other commenters will have better things to say

color and "paper look" is nice but what i want from e ink is battery life and always-on
@@Adrian-jj4xk and outdoor readability!
@@ionstorm66it is an IPS LCD without PWM, compared to most OLED screens, which do have pulse width modulation (PWM). This is major for eye fatigue.
Amazing no bullshit review. So glad I've found you
It's not e-paper. It's not even a reflective LCD like the original Nxtpaper.

you get the same effect with a matte screen protector. I have one on my galaxy tab and phone.

It's unfortunate it can only be purchased at Verizon. TCL should make this available at best buy or at least Walmart.
Thanks for interesting video!
How can this bi named "E-Paper" if is hard visible outside ?
This isnt e-ink. Wish e-ink could do color this well :P
I'm not a fan of the term E-paper. It makes me think of e-ink and sounds like it would be good outdoor. Neither seems to be true.

Does the visibility in sunlight improve with the e-paper modes? If not, that is false advertising at best.
I can't find the link to the stylus. Is it here somewhere and I'm just not seeing it?
This is the one I'm using: amzn.to/3YlhNpD
By chance, do you know when the TCL Nxtpaper 14 Pro is going to be released in the USA?
Nope, no news right now
@@ShannonMorse Okay, thanks. Hopefully it is released before the end of the year.
Will the NXTPAPER 11' or 12' Pro be introduced in USA? And I hope they both will be upgraded to NXTPAPER 3.0 tech which is here in 10'...
I hope so!
Our dog Sadie looks very similar to your doggie. I assume this display is a TFT LCD, emulating e-paper, but that's ok if it looks good.
Great video. I was hoping to check out the stylus you were using but I don't see a link.
I was looking for it too.
amzn.to/3YlhNpD here ya go!
CLICKED LIKE For Dogo! ,Keep up the work Shannon!
