- Palomar Divide Road is an easy trail that almost any vehicle should have no trouble with. The road surface is a mix of old asphalt and dirt. It's just under 14 miles to the closed gate at the trailhead for the walking trail to the peak. From there You'll have awesome views of Warner Plains, Lake Henshaw and the Palomar Observatory Telescope Complex.
Trail Start: 33.33090, -116.70916
Trail End: 33.36315, -116.83637

As a subie owner wanting to get into off-roading in socal, you are a godsend. Thank you!
Looks sick, thank you for the video. I would love to do this trail in my truck but honestly i am worried i might get lost lol
There's really no way to get lost. It's pretty much one road the whole way. Just use google maps.
I’m heading there this weekend trail is reopened

A great one, provided people start one way…
What’s the correct way to
doing it backwards but ok
I’m curious, since this is the second time I’ve seen this comment related to this specific trail - what indicates that it’s backwards? Trails offroad has the first waypoint starting at the same coordinates, and there is also a sign at the entrance.
can you park and unload a ranger polaris by the entrance
On Google maps the gate to start the trail is closed. Is it usually open though? Anyway to know before going up there
You would think the forest service could have real time updates on their website showing trail status. But no, that would be to much work I guess. I've run into so many locked gate in my time it's annoying. I haven't found a way to see if a trail is open before I go there yet, sorry.
@@subietrails2750 thank you! Do you recommend any other trails close to this one? I feel this is easy? Anything easy-medium close by?
@@Surgicalpathology Thomas Mountain trail is an easy fun trail that cuts through the pine tree forest of Thomas Mountain. If you want to make the trip longer and have a bit of challenge you can continue on to the Rouse Hill Trail. This video shows the 2 trails. ua-cam.com/video/8YcCXPGEmRo/v-deo.html
Can you get to the look out tower or is it locked up?
It was locked when I was there. In the summer there should be someone in there watching for fires so you might be allowed to go up if they are nice.
was just there, and the tower is manned.
@@stacky512a did you get a tour?
@@Djkommode no I didn’t. The person who was manning the tower drives a Jeep SUV, with a license plate frame stating fire watchers association, or something like that. We just pulled out our folding chairs, had a beer and crackers and continued with the drive.
@@stacky512a ok cool. I’ll have to check it out.
Is it open right now? Nov 23
I'm Not Sure. I think It depends if there is snow or not. If the main gate is closed there is an alternate way up there, Highpoint Road - 8S05. The turn off for this trail is at 33.44039, -116.85705
