  • We have learned a lot of off-road and life lessons over the years since we bought our first Jeep and in this video Regena and our son Jordan join me as we spend the day in four-wheel drive on the beautiful Palomar Divide trail and share our experiences. As we explore the Palomar Divide and High Point trails, we'll check out some historic and scenic sites along the way, and Regena is going to cook up a hearty lunch using the camp kitchen in the back of the Jeep Wrangler. We hope you enjoying coming along for the ride on this adventure!

    Lesson 9 off-roading isn’t just about breaking axles and crawling over rocks and obstacles, it’s also about family, history, our beautiful country, and the quality time seeing it. One of my favorite videos. Great family and inspiration to others.

    I think that is truly one of the problems in overlanding, we get so gear oriented in the newest and greatest. That isn't necessarily a problem if you enjoy and nerd out on the gear but don't let it hold you back from going on trips and enjoying the gear you already have. Its awesome to see how far you have come and grown and to see your channel go from a few subscribers to over 484,000 is insane!!!! Love it!

      Take the wife up top of the world trail. My wife had her doubts. I went to EJS 5 days before her to “get it out of my system” lol. She flew out and that was the last trail I had to check off. Couldn’t go to Moab without going up there again. Pretty sure I passed brad in the red Jeep on 128 on our way back to town matter of fact. Then spent a day checking out the parks with her and took a trip monument valley and the 4 corners. Also checked out valley of the gods. I can say for sure she gets it now. On the ride home she was asking when and where we’re going jeeping next lol.

      @@TrailRecon It’s just a gravel road loop with some pretty scenery and camp spots. I wouldn’t make a special trip just to see it but if driving by it would be a awesome place to camp for a night. Do wish the sites were a bit off the road path for privacy. More of like a campground experience with much better scenery.

    The trail terrain does change as you discussed as does access to different areas. These things I have enjoyed on the local trails where I live. Palomar Divide is my next day outing. Looks like you all did this on Friday when the wind was up. I went solo out to Blair Valley and then up to the S22 and dropped into Grapevine Canyon, Yaqui Wells Rd, then up to Anza Borrego so I could get a patch of the state park. Never even aired down.
    Be careful out there. The rattlers are starting to come out of their dens. I just about stepped on one as I was checking out a view. Little bugger was just sitting there warming up in the sun.
    BTW, to dispersed camp in Cleveland NF, you have to call the ranger district office and get a free overnight permit. They will email it to you...each peasy. You could also stop at the office to get one. No open fires, unfortunately.

We have a couple of trails that we want to redo because they were fun and also doing them in a different season will change their scenery. Jordan... Pay attention to Mom. It is a shelf road... 2 hands on the wheel, eyes on the road... yeah, all the mom safety things. LOL Until next time... Travel safe.

    I think back on my youth in the late 60s and 70s, my dad bought a used F150 and built a homemade camper. We hiked and camped all over the coast range primarily but a bit in the Sierras, even took it to Michigan one summer. No lift, no big tires, heck no offroad tires. We weren't in the middle of nowhere but sometimes we went hours between seeing other cars. Comparing what we had to todays equipment I am lucky to be alive. But we also were careful and did not push what we did have.

    Another fun trail rating vid! We've been on this trail a few times now. It's one that just jumps to the top of the list when we don't want to do a lot of pre-planning and just wanna go get off road. Man... I love the sound of the Magna Flow exhaust and that 392. Wonder if I can get that sound out of my 2.0L LOL

    Nice to see you revisit and reflect on that trail. Glad to see Regina more involved in the channel aswell. Maybe a good question for your next Q/A.. are you still planning on visiting all 50 states? Also when's the Cherokee video introduction/walk around coming? Keep up the good work!

    • @TrailRecon
      @TrailRecon  2 роки тому +4

      Thank you! Yes, all 50 states are on the table, it's just going to take us a bit, but we'll be venturing out of state shortly. I just got the Cherokee back up and running... finally! A few more details and I'll get it out and shoot a video.

    I love your videos because they're not all about extreme rock crawling. Yeah, that JK and your new 392 on 37s could do some awesome stuff if they wanted, but the trails you go on could be done by a stock jeep. Keep it up!
