Never finished the Star Wars series but I was enamoured with the concept of Reylo (despite not shipping them myself) and the renaissance it brought about to the fandom world. Rarely do I see such force behind all sorts of fan content and to think it’s only gonna fuel more emerging creators makes me really happy.
Interesting vid. The Reylo dyad thing was from star wars legends. It was based on Darth Revan & Bastila Shan and is the main story of Knights of the Old Republic video game. The geek in me had to put that out. 😅😅😅
Awesome video!! I didn’t know much about Reylo or its impact on the publishing industry so this was very interesting and informative. I loved the part about how the Pride and Prejudice dynamic continues to exist in modern literature. And I’ll have to give Love Hypothesis a chance :)
thank you!! i know this is a bit of a niche topic but i'm happy you found it interesting regardless! Yes, def give The Love Hypothesis a read (& The Hurricane Wars if you like fantasy!!)
This is a fantastic summary of the Reylo dynamic and why it exploded in the first place. The perfect reference for people who weren't present for it all. I will definitely link to this if that conversation ever comes up! Very well done (I particularly enjoyed your Lucasfilm/TROS bashing, we can't bash them enough tbh)! 🥰
Bravo!!! Excellent video essay, girl!🎉 Lucasfilm dropped the ball so hard with Rey and Ben’s ending. Such a sad ending for them both. They both deserved what they’d been deprived of all their lives: love and family! This ship LITERALLY got me into Star Wars! I’m so happy the authors in this community are finally getting the flowers they deserve!! ❤
Rey was dead for like 5 minutes, lying there, and Ben brought her back, he was dead for 3 seconds and puff, he's a force ghost, come on, give her a chance for Pete's sake! They could have revived each other all night!! 😮😅 ❤ #reylo4ever
Loved this video from start to finish. My favorite Reylo novel is The Love Hypothesis. While it isn’t enemies to lovers in the least. It still has Jane Austen tropes and narratives throughout. I found TLH to be more of a modern take on Emma. I live for Disney/Lucasfilm bashing. To this day they still do not get why Reylo is a hit amongst the masses. Or they do and just hate to admit that they were wrong. I fear they will forever stick to their mantra on female empowerment: “I don’t need a boyfriend.” Their loss and our gain 💵
lol! TLH is such a masterclass in Jane Austen YearningTM, I love it so much as well :) Thank you for watching and for validating my DLF bashing! And yes, we absolutely need media to realize female empowerment and romance aren't opposing ideas. Both things can (and should) coexist!
The problem with Episode 9's Ben Solo arc is that Kylo was never supposed to be redeemed. He was supposed to have a somewhat inverted Vader arc in which Kylo becomes THE MOST dedicated to the Dark Side, an irredeemable villain; by the end of Episode 8 he becomes the 'Supreme Leader' of the First Order. This plot line was dropped however because the ReyLo shipping was so popular, they wanted to salvage that dynamic.
yeah i’m aware that lucasfilm had no roadmap overall for the sequels, but having a vader 2.0 is completely redundant and boring imo. i’m glad we got ben solo instead, however badly they did him dirty in the end 🤷🏽♀️
lmao you’d have to ask the finnrey ppl there. I love John and Daisy together but they absolutely did not radiate romantic or sexual tension onscreen imo. They had a different dynamic but no less powerful

the power of reylo bringing out the muse in everyone was really something else 😌
living for how you unintentionally slip into rants about tros at multiple points in this video. happens to the best of us
lmaoo it was very much intentional

A reylo fanfic called Force Destiny actually references them

The amount of people telling me I am correct to bash DLF/TROS gives me life lmao. Thank you for watching! So happy you found it comprehensive 😊

thank you sm ♥️ reylo (and reylo authors) deserve the world!
I’m gonna have a whole shelf full of published Reylo books 😂. I don’t even care about Reylo, i just want something Adam related.
This too is my shelf goal lmao. Collecting reylo books like they’re infinity stones
amazing video:)
Thank you!
They are the Star Wars version of finding your Twin Flame (dyad).
they come as a package deal, with a little note that says Do Not Separate

the more you know! 😝 everything goes back to reylo unfortunately

@@soocheerolluh but we did get vader 2.0, dude gets redeemed and dies...
Question:
Why no Rey/Finn shipping?
Their off-screen chemistry was stronger imo.
