I paid $80 for a used 702 at a local pawn/gun shop, and this thing is a blast! I was surprised that the shop didn't clean trade-ins because when I tore it apart to clean it, it REALLY needed to be cleaned! We were out shooting the 702, my Kimber Model 82 target rifle with a 10x scope, and my son's Mosin-Nagant the other day. Hitting old 10" frying pans painted white from about 120 feet, the 702 with open sights was hitting 1-for-1 with my scoped Kimber. A great gun for kids to learn on.
I just bought one today! Had to go to work so I couldn't go fire it off today but I am tomorrow! I'm excited. Really like your videos man, great attitude and respectful words for the budget minded. SUBSCRIBED.
Ive have one of these and also its predecessor the magtech 7022.. the Ruger snobs often turn their noses up at them, but theyre excellent lightweight reliable little rifles... they get the job done.
I just bought one today for $102 at Walmart. It fired flawlessly, regardless of 22LR ammo, even crappy Golden Boys :-) Was accurate right out of the box to 25 yards(have not tried farther, yet). Mine will be loaded, in the "man cave" ready for varmints(animal and human). Its an awesome gun, and thanks to you're review, I bought one :-)
The Windham has been great, its my first AR and ive had fun with both my sons 15 and 4 firing it. The Plinkster is getting its debut this Saturday, my little guy is on fire with anticipation. Great review of the gun by the way, it helps seeing what other people think before actually buying. keep up the good work and safe shooting.
The first firearm I ever purchased, and to this day has not had a single misfeed/jam, i've ran hundreds of rounds of bulk ammo through it. A truly superb rifle, especially for its price.
My first one, out of the box, shot patterns, not groups, even with a scope on it...called Mossberg, explained problem and they sent me shipping lable...6 weeks later rifle returned with brand new barrel and target at 25yds...never had any more issues with this rifle
That is true. Shopping smart is more important then ever. On that note what do you think of the slide fire for defense in terms of prepping. Assault rifles are not illegal but they are so expensive only the upper class can afford them. I would love to see a review on the slide fire by a prepper for a prepper. Just an idea, or even for your opinion on whether or not its worth the money. I mean they turn a semi auto rifle into a fully auto controllable bump fired weapon.
They do make hi cap mags just hard to find and I'm not sure how reliable they are. However I have had mine for the better part of 4 yrs. I think I've cleaned it twice. Just keeps chugging along no sweat..
i think the sight flips down so a scope can be mounted.at least it works that way for mine.btw, love my 702.it replaced my red rider bb gun after i grew up
Just grabbed on for $107+tax at Walmart, which theses days is tantamount to shoplifting. Extra mags are insanely expensive. It's not as solid as a 10/22 but it does great. Can always use another .22LR for camping, prepping, plinking, introducing newbies to firearms, etc.
i bought one for $125 few years ago. its great, never had a jam. great gun all in all for shooting targits & small game hunting. i did put a scope on it but the sights arnt bad
Oh no I stand behind .223 I am training to become a United States Navy SEAL and the AR 15 platform is one that I am completely and utterly comfortable with. An AK is a great gun don't get me wrong, but it would hinder me to learn another platform. I was asked thought I would ask you. Keep up the fight and HOYAH!
Thanks man and keep up the good work you have honest reviews, I even own a high point c9 and the carbine along with an ak47 great guns for the money. It only gets more expensive in terms of prepping as the cost of everything is going up, great little guns and I can arm my whole family for the price of any other handgun that's worth its weight.
You can purchase a 25 rnd mag thru CDNN sports (not the mag for the 715t- they are different) out of Texas for the plinkster- CDNN also stocks the 715t rifle and xtra mags
I bought one in 2015, and it has been a fantastic rifle. It feels like a BB Gun, it's so light to carry. It is simple, accurate, and I have never had a jam. Keep it clean and this one could last a long time My only quirk, is that the magazine is a bit fickle to load. It needs a magazine lever to compress the spring. But Hey, I paid $100 for it, I can live with that :)
I've heard others complain about the mags being hard to load but I've never had a problem with mine. This is still my favorite 22 rifle (It's much more reliable than my Ruger 10/22)
I like this rifle. Only thing I did was put 4 spaced 500gr minie balls in the stock and filled it with expanding foam. I find it much better balanced now. Just over 1/2 lbs.
I watched this video just now,.after I bought one of these rifles just yesterday. I paid $160.00 for mine here in Canada, this is a good price for here in Canada, heck even Cabela's wanted considerably more for it on-line. It feels like it's going to a be a fun light weight, recoiless, .22 rifle to plink with,....Oh yes, that's why it's called a Plinkster isn't it ? Hahaha. Great gun to have added to my collection , along with it's 'brother' the 802 bolt action. I'm glad I bought this. Thanks for the video.
+Conservative Macro The world doesn't end at the US borders,..Cabela's in Canada wants $249.99 as of 5 minutes ago , checking their On-Line store,.......I said in my comment above, TWICE that I was in Canada. Ya gotta read the complete comments, before you make a reply. Hahaha.!
+Conservative Macro Well, if you make a mistake , you have to admit it,...I did and I do. You got me here,...I did make a mistake here in this , I looked at a 702 with larger magazine included. I apologize for this, Conservative Marco, you are correct. The only thing is that I did get a better price than Cabela's in this case. Thanks for pointing this out. Cheers.
Pulled mine out of the box, couldn't get off 20 shots before a plate above the trigger assembly broke. Manufacturer had it for 4 months. Still has feeding & jamming problems.
I have one, but have yet to shoot it. Does it jam often? I bought it used and it looked as if it had never been cleaned, but I cleaned it thoroughly and checked it for function and it seems solid. Cant wait to take it out to the range!
The stock is hollow. If you take off the butt plate you can put prep supplies in it. I keep extra ammo, cash, a knife, matches, some light binding wire wrapped and $20 wrapped in some duct tape.
This is prob the best survival rifle on the market .. I'd choose it over the Ruger 10/22 because it is SOOO much lighter .. Mag fed .. Perfect gun .. Paid 107 for mine.. Haven't had a single problem with it.
I paid almost three hundred dollars on one out the door, could have bought a 10/22 cheaper. First gun I had purchased. Definitely over spent what a joke. Do you know if I can swap out looks to the tactical 715. Cant find any answers to that question. Thanks much great review just pissed I spent so much lesson learned. I knew it sounded expensive for a plain jane .22
They are great 22 for the price but when you buy one, look the dove tail mount over real good and make sure the grooves are cut deep enough.I had take dremel tool and cut grooves in mine to keep scope from coming off.Maybe why walmart sells them so cheap.
We have a couple of these and I agree that they really don't care what ammo you run through them. Ours didn't come with the hooded front sight. As a matter of fact, the cheap plastic front sight on one of our broke off. That's the only complaint I have though. Once I installed an inexpensive scope, we were back in business. Our Savage Mark II is more accurate though.
@MDPrepper yep Im getting it to hunt squirrels and other small game...walmart have it for $117....Hey when i buy this gun will the background to extra money...Or will the price of the gun with tax be some where around $117-$125
Oh, I forgot to mention one thing I did to modify my Mossberg Plinkster. I am not using this gun in a hiking pak so being so lightweight is not important to me. The balance seemed a bit off for my tastes so I removed the butt plate and i put about 20 .22LR rounds in the hollow buttstock wrapped in plastic grocery store bag so will not shift around. So now the balance at the range feels better for me and i know where I can fins a few extra rounds if i ever need them.
Wow have you seen the price magazines for these are going for? Just checked ebay and 25 rounders are selling for $100 and 10 rounders are selling for $50. UNBELIEVABLE!
***** I know! I just hope it happens. I bought a extra gun safe last night of a fella for $60. It's one of those low end Stack-On deals, but it was still a deal at $60. Anyway, the guy mentioned he had a couple .22's he was getting rid of and brought them to the meet-up. There was the Mossberg, and also a Savage Mk-II bolt action he was asking $75 for. He apparently gave first dibs to a friend, but said that if they didn't get them within a week he would call me. I'm happy to take both. At those prices it doesn't hurt to have a few more .22's laying around.
upgrade yes it will. the 715t is a no fixed sights option of the 702. also has a threaded 16in barrel. a real upgrade. also only buy the 10rd mags. eBay at 15 bucks each. hubby sells these at dicks sporting goods for 130 all day.
Schroeder_2000 I had lots of trouble with the 25 round mags for this Mossberg Plinkster. I took it to the range a few times but was never able to get it to feed a full magazine without problems
+yama “bautchus” goochie I've had mine for 8 years and never cleaned shot federal remington and cci rounds and out of close to 1k rounds only jammed 3 times
I paid $80 for a used 702 at a local pawn/gun shop, and this thing is a blast! I was surprised that the shop didn't clean trade-ins because when I tore it apart to clean it, it REALLY needed to be cleaned!

great little gun, accurate and light, comfortable to shoot.

i bought one of these in 2005. ive fired thousands of rounds through it and never had a problem. i paid about 100 for it and it was worth every penny
Dude, your videos are great ! I enjoy them and they are full of great facts! Keep it up and dont change a thing.
The first firearm I ever purchased, and to this day has not had a single misfeed/jam, i've ran hundreds of rounds of bulk ammo through it. A truly superb rifle, especially for its price.
First 22 i ever bought. Looove mine
My first also. Love it
Mossberg makes a 25 round mag for the 702 now on their website, FYI. Good video!
They do make a 25 round High capacity clip for these. I just picked one up and they work great.
My first .22lr rifle is the rossi rs22 the same, and always loved it.
My first one, out of the box, shot patterns, not groups, even with a scope on it...called Mossberg, explained problem and they sent me shipping lable...6 weeks later rifle returned with brand new barrel and target at 25yds...never had any more issues with this rifle
I have one of these on the way from PSA. $99 for the Plinkster with a scope. A no brainer for me. Thanks for the vid. Subscribed!
ponie1992 Indeed a no brainer! I prefer it to my Ruger 10/22 less finicky with ammo and just as accurate
*****
Order status show shipped, so hopefully I get it soon. Can't wait!
ponie1992 Enjoy!

I will! Just got it in yesterday and can't wait to run some rounds through it!

I had this rifle for almost a year. It's a great rifle! The flip down sight is to give more room for a scope.
mdprepper walmart has a tasco 3x7 scope that is less then 20 bucks and will give you great groups from 150 and 200 yards
i think the sight flips down so a scope can be mounted.at least it works that way for mine.btw, love my 702.it replaced my red rider bb gun after i grew up

me and friend put 150 rounds through this right out of the box. had no issues
It's a great little rifle that doesn't get enough notice in the world of firearms
***** I can't recall ever cleaning mine and it's been notably more reliable than my 10/22
Pulled mine out of the box, couldn't get off 20 shots before a plate above the trigger assembly broke. Manufacturer had it for 4 months. Still has feeding & jamming problems.
How did you like Texas? I love the lone star state, born and raised.
I have one, but have yet to shoot it. Does it jam often? I bought it used and it looked as if it had never been cleaned, but I cleaned it thoroughly and checked it for function and it seems solid. Cant wait to take it out to the range!

@MDPreeper how does the rear sight flip up on the mossberg 702 international plinkster
I grabbed the rossi rs22 exact same rifle
JUST GOT ONE AT ACADEMY THANKS FOR ALL THE INFO WHERE DID YOU GET THE EXTRA MAGS THOUGH?
I'm not certain (it's been quite a while) but I think I got the extra mags from Cheaper Than Dirt
OH OK IM VERY FAMILIAR WITH THEY'RE MAGAZINE THANKS AGAIN THANKS
NP! Enjoy!
I just got my 25 round at Academy for $28 With out tax. Hard to find but they are out there.
Although, they do sell 25 round magazines for it, however the 10 rounders are 100 times more reliable.
Wow have you seen the price magazines for these are going for? Just checked ebay and 25 rounders are selling for $100 and 10 rounders are selling for $50. UNBELIEVABLE!
*Question: How much repair and maintenance does this Mossberg rifle require?
Does any special internal part break easily?
I've owned mine for 7+ years and I've never had any failures of any kind. Extremely low maintenance. Much less finicky than a Ruger 10/22
I had a Remington 597, so will compare to a new black Mossberg just like this, cheap skipe from Barska for $15 to my door!
The rear sight flips down to accommodate a scope.
Mike t how does it flip up
Push the opposite way. Simple
where did you buy it
Got a possible offer to buy one of these for $50. I think I'll pick it up. It will make a great barter/ family handout weapon.
Hans S. For $50 I'd buy it even if I hadn't seen it!!
***** I know! I just hope it happens. I bought a extra gun safe last night of a fella for $60. It's one of those low end Stack-On deals, but it was still a deal at $60. Hans S. Good luck. . .I'd buy both if they are available
Can you put picanny railing on one of these
Good small game gun for what I have heard.
Definitely. Smoked me a rabbit yesterday with it
they make 25 round magazine too
there are clips that you can get that hold 25
And the sight flips down for when you mount a scope!
I still have mine just for shtf.
i have two of them i love them.
Dude im buying that gun just cause of it looks and the price on it...And im from S.C to....
gun prices are raising, I just bought mine a few days ago and it was $150
Paid $114 for this thing earlier this week at walmart in KCMO
@MDPrepper thankx for the info Im really into guns so i think a .22 will be perfect
these cost 150 at my cabelas in east hartford ct. I wish it was 99 right now.
TheBelgium989 they are 119 in Meriden Ct in the Westfield mall in dicks sporting goods if you're interested.
will this stock fit on the Mossberg 715t 22. ?
I'm not certain but they certainly do look similar
upgrade yes it will. the 715t is a no fixed sights option of the 702. also has a threaded 16in barrel. a real upgrade. also only buy the 10rd mags. eBay at 15 bucks each. hubby sells these at dicks sporting goods for 130 all day.
Looks just like the Marlin 795.
They are very similar (not sure if they take the same mags though)
what experiences with these rifles has anyone had?? are they worth the money??
It flips down so that a scope can go on it easier.
i paid 170 for mine but it is a chome reciever and barrel and i think its stainless can anyone tell me why its a different color
And I have a sig 1911 22 for shtf
Mine dosnt shoot u less u pull slide by hand I'm not sure y it bran new just used it to day
They make 25 round mags for this rifle now.
25 round mag on cheaper than dirt looks like and m4/ar-15/m16 mag
it's $107 at walmart all day long
They have 25 rounds mags, they look AR-15 mags, and they cost roughly 30 dollars
only compliant to some states Cali sucks we are restricted to ten round nags only
+Grayfizzle well come on down here to Texas where the grass is girls are pretty. and hi capacity magazine's and all the cheap ammo you want
+SHERMAN GRUNT yeeeeeee Wilco Roger that pal
they suck though
i have a mossburg 60
Verygood
u rite bot that mdprepper guns n gear ammo gettin more expensive
i
This gun jam on u?
I've never had a single failure to fire/jam/or misfeed. Flawless in the 9+ years I've owned it
+MDPrepper -at academy is selling this gun for $140.00 +tax. is that a good price?
***** I paid about $100 for mine but that was years ago. I think $140 sounds about right (oh and skip the 25 round magazines. . .they suck)
+MDPrepper -cool thanks for the help I will go buy this gun this weekend.
***** Let me know what you think of it
Just bought one from walmart for 107
You'll enjoy it!
Awe! The liberals must hate you. Awesome affordable weapon. I'm like you, I don't want to be shot with anything. Keep up the great work
can I get a replacement stock for this
Yes to can. Try ebay if you're looking for the same stock. Boyds makes custom aftermarket stocks as well.
Thanks
my 702 is way more accurate then my ruger and my marlin dime sized targets at 150 yards with a 3x7 scope 1 shot
ten rounds is good enough for a plinker.
Indeed it is. I tried one of the newer 25 rounds mags and hated it
+MDPrepper well I hope they make better ones in the future. for those of us who want one.
***** The 25 round mag was a overall failure in my experience (but I've never fared well with higher capacity 22 round magazines)
*****
the 25 round 10/22 mags were good for me, did you have any problems with them?
Schroeder_2000 I had lots of trouble with the 25 round mags for this Mossberg Plinkster. I took it to the range a few times but was never able to get it to feed a full magazine without problems
I got what I paid for. Cheap garbage. Jams all the time. Fails to feed. Doesn't matter what ammo I use, how well it is cleaned, etc.
Bad magazine..I called Mossberg and they sent me two replacements...no issues after that
Looks like a copy of Ruger 10/22.
James Gretsch not really. Profile looks closer to marlin .22 semi auto
Stay away from this thing!! Mine kept jamming, Gets way too dirty way too fast. It's a cheap piece of junk!! Got rid of fast!!
yama goochie I haven't "properly" cleaned mine in years and never had a problem. What brand of ammo where you shooting?
CCI Minimag, Winchester Plated Hollow Point,Remington Golden and Thunderbolt, you name it- Jammed after about 30 rounds. .
+yama “bautchus” goochie I've had mine for 8 years and never cleaned shot federal remington and cci rounds and out of close to 1k rounds only jammed 3 times
