    Wow! When I see Minnesota State Fair, I really wish to visit Minneapolis! I couldn't imagine butter sculptures in summer. I am sure there is a fantastic place to live at. Thank you a lot for your incredible lessons. Including video of the State Fair.

    Thank for the lesson!
    I can only tell you what I DID this summer. Unfortunately, the summer has ended.
    I was going to study English as hard as possible and go for walks on the seashore as often as possible.
    Our city is a port. There are many beaches and wild picturesque coastlines. When it didn’t rain, I went to the seashore, sat down and looked into the distance, to where the ocean begins. It's very calming and reassuring.
    I tried to read books in English. Overall, this summer was a summer of learning English and walking to the seashore.

    Hi teacher Paul.
    At 6:20 you've said "It's fun making videos."
    I've heard that we could use gerunds after some verbs, after prepositions, after combination of a verb and preposition, after adjective + preposition, but I've never heard that you could use gerund after adjective like in your case above. Would you mind kind of considering to make a short video/lesson on this topic, please?

    Hi Paul, How you doin' ?.
    Ok Paul, let me see if I got it straight,
    It means that:
    - When the verb with the "ING" form functions as a subject we can call it "a gerund".
    AND.
    - When the verb with the "ING" form says that we're doing something at the moment we're speaking, it's just called "the present continuos or progressive tense".
    Is that right Paul ?.
    Thank you so much in advance for the answer and the video Paul. 👍.

    • @Learnamericanenglishonline
      @Learnamericanenglishonline  Рік тому

      You got it! But I think the most important thing is to recognize that a word with an "ing" ending is not always the verb. There are also "ing" words that function as adjectives. In that case, they really aren't gerunds, but it doesn't matter too much what you call them as long as you know how to use them properly.

    Summer is almost over in Germany, dear Paul. But maybe you can answer a question of mine.
    Can you say that one of the meanings of polarize is equal to demonstrate or indicate? Thank you!

    • @Learnamericanenglishonline
      @Learnamericanenglishonline  Рік тому +1

      No, the word "polarize" means to separate into two opposite parts. Your question has nothing to do with this topic. Just do a search on Google for the meaning. That's easier than asking me.

    • @amir.tajlili
      @amir.tajlili Рік тому

      Thank you dear Paul for your answer. Of course, I search first like everyone else my questions on the Internet and I also know this meaning and that of a polarizing personality. But often I hear the word in poker reports but I can't connect it with any meaning and that was the reason why I bothered you, with the hope that maybe this verb also has a completely different meaning in the colloquial language of which I don't know and you could help me with that. Nevertheless, thank you for writing to me. You are a great teacher and always enjoy and learn from your videos. God bless you!
