In February 2018 I started my UA-cam channel. I was 65 at the time. Originally it was to share some adventures I was to have with my Australian grandson when he stayed in Nederland with me. Apart from encouragement initially from a UA-cam friend, I'm mainly self taught. Videos like yours are an enormous help. Understanding all you said about the seaside up and down motion while walking. I'd be OH SO PROUD to receive this Gimbal and impress not only my grandchildren, but myself included, with even beter videos. I feel more confident with every video I post although I know the quality and expertise varies each time. Fingers crossed! None the less I'm pleased to have discovered your channel and will continue to check out tips, and for me, new technics. One is never too old to learn. Oh and please don't let my address be a negative. The postie knows where to find me. ;-)
The first time I watched your video was when I was having a hard time choosing what gimbal to use for my thesis. I can say that you greatly influence my decision. For that I did enjoy my trial data gathering with the indigenous peoples living in Occidental Mindoro, Philippines. There were selected students who shared their stories on how they perceived the world as Mangyan students. I let them used my smartphone and gimbal. Most of them were surprised to see from the screen how their place and their looked like. I am going back in Mindoro for my field work, this time I am bringing 2 gimbals: one for my smartphone and another for my action camera. I wanted to give opportunity to all the students in Grade 6 and 7 to share their stories through photos and videos. This time I wanted them to capture how they interact with the creatures on land and rivers within their ancestral domain. Hoping that with this activity they will realize the need to fight for their rights and the future of their community. In case you give me your gimbal, I will donate it to the school of the Mangyans, so they could continue sharing their stories through photos and videos, and most of all remember and continue to respect the elders who shared their indigenous knowledge.
I love the fact that this gimbal is so compact, in comparison to most other other gimbals .. It's so easy to make content when you're in a mall or in a hotel and public places, so and you don't have to worry about feeling uncomfortable and people staring at you
This is the best presentation I have seen in connection with gimbals. Probably because it confirms my own experiences very well. I wish I had found her sooner. I have a lot of practice with Zhiyun Smoot 4 and figured out for myself how to avoid the BOBBLE effect and how best to get a smooth cinematic film. I call it "ninja steps". It is difficult for me because I am 71 years old, but the effort pays off, the effect is great. Of course I tried to reduce the BOBBLE effect with the software but without success.
I love how small this gimbal is! I have an older one that I don't love, this would be great to have at shoots and love that you can take the plate off.
Like your tips. I have not used a selfie stick yet but you gave me cool ideas. Right now I’m using cell phones to record live bands. Just started and a light weight gimbal is the next item on my list. Thanks again!
I'm relatively new to the video recording world. I have some experience from twenty or more years ago when I was recording the aftermath of war in my country. Recently I managed to afford a small (Samsung Galaxy Camera) camera and started working on timelaps of my city. It is good but a bit outdated so some things I can't do. These days I decided to try to buy one (Huawei P20) smartphone and one gimbal for my birthday. I'm not that young anymore (49 soon) but I still love to create something that will be nice to people. To me, the reward is enough to enjoy the creation of it. Mr. Jeven, you came to me like I was looking for you. My window to the world I want to learn as much as possible. I'm not used to getting things in my life, so I'm not hoping to get this, but it's totally OK. I will continue, as long as my life and good healt permits, to make modest efforts to be kind to others and to make them happy by my actions. That's the only thing that matters in my life. Being happy when others are happy around me.
I am new to this and have learned a lot from watching your tutorials for UA-cam. I am doing this with my wife and son and it isn't cheap to acquire the proper gear to make a good video. Thanks, for everything you do!
I really want to explore getting into filming with a gimbal. It would come in handy for when I make travel videos. Starting with something simple like this one would be a great beginning for me. Thanks for the info!
That gimbal is awesome! Just recieved my first drone ever. The Mavic Air 2. It's going to be great for our travels. Enjoy watching your very knowledgeable videos.
Monopods do wonders as you said. I use a very light weight Manfrotto, extends your sway move, great for overhead to ground moves. Simply holding it at a 45 deg angle helps eliminate bobbles. I'm interested in how to use the follow mode....
Really great video and very helpful tips. One of my favorites that you've done. 2 quick questions...so that Zhiyun gimbal is not yet available? Secondly, can you put links for the other items you mentioned...the gimbal add ons? That would be great thanks
I've watched a lot of different channels and you are definitely one of the best at truly teaching these techniques that we are all trying to learn. I'm very new to this and as you know it's a lot at the beginning trying to get all of the equipment. I'm trying to start filming more fly fishing education videos and this would come in handy
This is one of the best tutorials for gimbals for smartphone.!! I myself use the Osmo Mobile with iPhone, now iPhone 11 Pro Max. Both with normal lens and Ultra Wide. Filming in confined spaces is very successful with Ultra Wide. I've also been filming with the Osmo Pocket for more than a year. But in narrow spaces, the iPhone with Ultra Wide and Osmo Mobile is more suitable. I think the Zhiyun SMOOTH Q2 is even better than the older Osmo Mobile.
This is actually pretty cool. I've seen a number of gimbals showcased in the past, not too many decent ones for smartphones. Considering phones are getting better at recording video and you pretty much always have it on you, having a compact thing like this can be super handy. I enjoy taking a fair bit of video for just casual stuff. I admit that I haven't really done much with video editing, though I really should. I've done some basic things, but nothing super in-depth. Thank you a bunch for the review and your opinions on using it!
i new to learning B-roll and vloging. but i’m having fun did my first video. and now it’s time to go from there. thanks for all your advise through your videos. it does help! i would love that gimbal!
I went to Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand a couple of weeks ago and I left my Zhiyun Smooth 4 at the bus going to Cambodia. This Q2 is a good replacement for Smooth 4.
Heading to Alaska on my motorcycle 45 day adventure. It's small and to me looks like a valuable off bike device to help aid me in maing some great footage.
It's interesting that a phone is able to do what a semi professional video camera does, say... 10 years ago. This gimbal just makes it all so much smaller and easier, not to mention the convenience of editing it directly on your phone. I have a mirror less camera, but I'm loving what my note 10 does and straight out of my pocket.
I like the tips & hints that you provide. I would like to get a gimbal sometime to make some of my shots more smooth. Can only do so much hand held and electronic stablization.
Hey! I watch your videos all the time. They are very informative. I currently record on my smartphone indoors and the gimbal would be a great help to start recording outdoors.
I just started my channel. Didn’t want to fall into G.A.S. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) so I decided to just get started with my iPhone X. A gimbal would help me make better footage to increase the quality of my content. Thanks for all your tips and help bro!!
Always great tips for more professional looking shots, Jeven. I have been shooting with my 35mm, DJI drone, Go Pro and some with my smart phone. The Zhiyun gimbal will be a simple tool to get better footage with the phone. My son has just started college for a major in Outdoor Adventure Education with a minor in film production so winning this would be awesome for the both of us!
I'm new to photography and film making and I'm trying to build up my arsenal of tools. The Zhiyun would be very helpful as I'm trying to learn this craft.
I like the compact form factor of the smooth Q2. Your tips coupled with the Q2 would be ideal to help me get smooth video on my smartphone. Thanks for a great video.
Your videos are the best because you make the information simple. I have been looking at the Smooth Q2 for the longest. My question is will it fit a note 10 plus?
I would quite like this gimbal, I have tried several but none were really what I wanted or liked and this is the first video I have seen about Q2 that was not from the manufacturer.
Thanks for all the help in your videos Jevon! I am hoping to use a gimbal to get some better shots for my yoga sequences to use as B-roll in my videos 😊
it is nice to see small mobile gimbal can do all those movement like crane 3. my question is how about wide angel lens of new phones... is the motor will in the picture and how's the object tracking works in the app? thanks
Awesome tips , thanks. I currently use the smooth Q3 but it doesnt fit in my pocket. This gimbal looks like I can take video , put the gimbal into my pocket and then take pictures with my camera. For me , that's the perfect setup.
That looks like a very nice lite weight gimbal. I've been thinking about making some youtube videos and the gimbal would come in very handy because of my disability.
I love that you can add attachments to the gimbal. I would use the gimbal for my vacation vlogs. I only have one on my account right now (China - Great Wall & Watertwon), but I filmed many more and after viewing the footage wished I had some equipment. I would definitely use it for future trips.
Thanks for your great knowledge and tips! Big fan! I’m a beginner that wants to learn anything and everything about filming, so, the more the better from you. I have the smooth 4 and love it! But this little guy is just so awesome and can go anywhere at anytime. I’d love to have one. Thanks again for your great tips and reviews.
Great tips! I did a follow shot of my son running and playing down a wooded grove and the duck walk would have been a great way to have reduced the wobble. I'm going to be starting a "couch to 5 courses" series soon where I vlog the process of learning the basics of cooking all the way through cooking gourmet food. Having a gimbal to track me in the kitchen would super helpful. :)
i liked the way you made a review not just talking abt the product also letting us know how the technique can be used to produce better videos with talking abt the features also
Love the videos. I video only with my phone and edit with my tablet. I love all the videos you post for mobile users. I don't have a gimbal for my phone and this would be great for me to use at both work and personal projects that I shoot!
Great video with quick tips for better shots ..... kinda what I’m trying to do with my quick tips to better driving. Wish I had a gimbal!!! Winning would be the bomb!
I had the original smooth q gimbal, but I’ve given it to my brother when I got the Osmo Pocket. Lots of your tips apply to using the Pocket too. I’ve downsized to a Samsung S8 phone so would love to try a gimbal again and the removable plate is a super feature, getting it off and on was the hardest part with the Q.
Great content again!! I would love to try using more stabilization in my videos to raise the production bar. I just downloaded the ProCam app on my iPhone XR, so it’s time to learn how to use that app. Thanks for all the great content!
Thank you for your videos. I'm a new UA-camr and have learned so much from you. I have a selfie stick gimbal that is ok but doesn't seem to hold a battery very long. I would love to upgrade.
Thanks for the video I like the Transition tips I did learn something today I want to start my Cooking Channel and those great tips thanks and I need one of those for sure
Subscribed and love your videos, tips, ideas and assistance. Just starting out and have so much to learn its overwhelming. All your previous videos are so helpful and enjoyable to watch. Thank you. Need all the help I can get. Gimbal allows one to really play and get creative, wont be as boring as I am now with better gear assist. Then when I am done with it I can pass it on.
Nice video thanks for the tips I truly understand about the duck walk it takes practice and feels weird but helps do you have a suggestion about how to shoot/walk on uneven ground???
I have a mobile gimbal which was brought 3 years ago. As it is big and tourble when mount the phone on and off, I just use it few time. It is great to have a small one which can fit in pants pocket
You've convinced me that I want one of these. Always looking to upgrade my videos. I want this so I can level up my content. I can't really afford much extra for my youtube right now so I always make the best of what I have. That gimble would get some use here. lol I want it. The tips were super useful and help me realize I need to plan more before I press record.
Great advice and pro tips! Because I travel and always asked to get shots of the places this would be the perfect travel companion for me to win. Thanks for the opportunity
Filmic PRO allows you to lock your focus, exposure AND white balance. I use this app along with the Osmo 3 and its amazing. It also has Zoom and Focus ramping which can be used at the same time. Its amazing software.
Great Vids... I keep learning more and more... Keep it up... Thank you... Hope I can get that Gimbal really really want to learn more... Any idea when this gimbal be available in Malaysia... 😉
I have a DJI mobile right now (1st gen, I think), but it's big and bulky and I've had to kludge it to work with the bigger iPhones (weights attached to counterbalance). I've been looking at their new one, but smaller is better for me. Have you compared the two? This looks great and the tips are helpful no matter the gear. Thanks!
I have another video for your on ways to move your gimbal to get cinematic shots: ua-cam.com/video/ZTTKIx4_sKc/v-deo.html
Dude Love your stuff, but your spelling needs some attention. Tip #2 should be spelled Gimbal not Gimal
Great tips.
@@digiklump haha that was a typo. Thanks for the heads up.
Love your work here and can't wait to use this gimbal!
more than one typo

Fantastic tips and a great phone gimbal they keep getting better. I like that you don't butt the side of the phone up against the gimbal arm anymore.
I learned a lot......thanks
I really want to explore getting into filming with a gimbal. It would come in handy for when I make travel videos. Starting with something simple like this one would be a great beginning for me. Thanks for the info!
I decided to vlog with my iphone recently so this smartphone gimbal would be a huge step forward for my footage. And of course: great video again ;)

Cool little gimbal. Awesome tips! I can't do a regular gimbal and camera. Something this small might work to break away from my boring static shots.
Thanks for the tips Jeven!
Getting this gimbal would be a good way to start with my own gimbal and apply your tips!
This is one of the best tutorials for gimbals for smartphone.!!

Thanks Jeven, I tried some of these techniques yesterday, they worked really well. I still need more practice but it makes sense
I went to Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand a couple of weeks ago and I left my Zhiyun Smooth 4 at the bus going to Cambodia. This Q2 is a good replacement for Smooth 4.
I gave my Osmo Mobile to my nephew, and this would be a great replacement for me for some on the go iPhone b-roll! Another great Rachel cameo!

Hey! I watch your videos all the time. They are very informative. I currently record on my smartphone indoors and the gimbal would be a great help to start recording outdoors.
Great tutorial. Obviously there's more to using your phone for movie thank I had any idea! Thanks for pulling back the curtain!
Great video and solid tips!! I do a lot of "remote" or quick videos with the iPhone and this definitely helps!
Great video and great content! I'd use this gimbal to document my ultra trail running races and then share that video with family and friends.
I just started my channel. Didn’t want to fall into G.A.S. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) so I decided to just get started with my iPhone X. A gimbal would help me make better footage to increase the quality of my content. Thanks for all your tips and help bro!!
Excellent video and very useful info. Will you be able to use the gimbal with and external wide lens and counterweights?
Always great tips for more professional looking shots, Jeven. I have been shooting with my 35mm, DJI drone, Go Pro and some with my smart phone. The Zhiyun gimbal will be a simple tool to get better footage with the phone. My son has just started college for a major in Outdoor Adventure Education with a minor in film production so winning this would be awesome for the both of us!
Great video on small gimbal techniques. I was trying to decide between Smooth Q2 and the Crane M2 - went with the Crane M2.
they are good but wrong decicion, should have gone with dji
I use my smartphone along with my GoPro to vlog and shoot B-roll. This would come in super handy for those cell phone shots.
I'm new to photography and film making and I'm trying to build up my arsenal of tools. The Zhiyun would be very helpful as I'm trying to learn this craft.
Im transitioning from camcorders to cellphones to record with. and I can't wait to acquire a gimbal. Helpful tips thanx.
I would use it for a lot of b-roll for my wedding videos. Since I don’t have a a gimbal for my big camera. Love the videos buddy
Great video thank you
I liked the tips. Learning a lot right now and having a lot of fun just shooting every day. This will be a good tool to add in my backpack 👍
I really enjoy your work...and I've learned much. And, at 73 years old, anything I can do to steady the phone is a great help.
I’m a fairly beginning videographer and that gamble would be a great tool for me to start getting serious with the craft.
Perfect, just what I needed with my upgrade to iPhone 11 and of my current gimbal
Also idk if this matters to you, but step 2 has gimbal spelled without a b
I like the compact form factor of the smooth Q2. Your tips coupled with the Q2 would be ideal to help me get smooth video on my smartphone. Thanks for a great video.
Great video. Thinking about starting vlogging and your stuff has been a big help figuring out the logistics.
Thank you for the gimbal tips, I'll share this with my co-workers!
Your videos are the best because you make the information simple. I have been looking at the Smooth Q2 for the longest. My question is will it fit a note 10 plus?
Love the size and simplicity. Sometimes less is more.
I would quite like this gimbal, I have tried several but none were really what I wanted or liked and this is the first video I have seen about Q2 that was not from the manufacturer.
Thanks for all the help in your videos Jevon! I am hoping to use a gimbal to get some better shots for my yoga sequences to use as B-roll in my videos 😊
it is nice to see small mobile gimbal can do all those movement like crane 3. my question is how about wide angel lens of new phones... is the motor will in the picture and how's the object tracking works in the app? thanks
Just getting started and am waiting forever for my DJI Osmo Mobile 3 to ship. I'm getting a lot of pointers from your videos. Keep it up.
Thank you for this. Very helpful.
Is there any zoom control on the gimbal to control the zoom on the phone?
Great video, and very informative,a lot of good tips
Awesome tips , thanks. I currently use the smooth Q3 but it doesnt fit in my pocket. This gimbal looks like I can take video , put the gimbal into my pocket and then take pictures with my camera. For me , that's the perfect setup.
Thanks for the tips.... the walk in the park was a snooze... needed more duck walk.
Very useful tips ,....Thanks for guiding us ...Keep it up..
That looks like a very nice lite weight gimbal. I've been thinking about making some youtube videos and the gimbal would come in very handy because of my disability.
Great tips, great shots. I'm new to all this and looking for quality equipment... Thanks for the informative video.
I love that you can add attachments to the gimbal. I would use the gimbal for my vacation vlogs. I only have one on my account right now (China - Great Wall & Watertwon), but I filmed many more and after viewing the footage wished I had some equipment. I would definitely use it for future trips.
I use my iPhone to shoot for my channel and just started investigating gimbals to up my game. Nice tips for sure!
Great tips, especially the one about moving your smartphone like a big camera!
Your videos are always informative and inspiring. Thank you very much.
i liked the way you made a review not just talking abt the product also letting us know how the technique can be used to produce better videos with talking abt the features also
Hi Jeven, what if I don't have a Gimbal, can I use a selfie stick or tripod?
Always been hesitant to buy a gimbal b/c of the size, but this one makes convenience a feature!
Very nice and informative video , I want to start my UA-cam channel and I think this is a great gimbal for me to start. Again thank you so much.
This is a great video tips for me as a new UA-cam. Keep it up guys.
Great content again!! I would love to try using more stabilization in my videos to raise the production bar. I just downloaded the ProCam app on my iPhone XR, so it’s time to learn how to use that app. Thanks for all the great content!
I currently have the Smooth Q. Sure wish it held my 7 plus better. Good video. Thanks!
I have a new channel and have been looking for ways to improve my b roll. I'm grateful for this channel

Thank you. Nice video thanks for the tips I truly understand about the duck walk it takes practice and feels weird but helps do you have a suggestion about how to
shoot/walk on uneven ground???
These are awesome and REAL tips! Haha that shift from leg to leg is a definite go to for me. You've got the movement down well for those walks too!
You footage is awesome and the tips too, thanks that's can help me to create more steady shoot, not have gimbal yet because of expensive stuff 😁

Filmic PRO allows you to lock your focus, exposure AND white balance. I use this app along with the Osmo 3 and its amazing. It also has Zoom and Focus ramping which can be used at the same time. Its amazing software.

Thanks!
Very cool. So simple but yet dynamic. Great tips.
Glad you liked it!
