- One of the rare instances of a nonuple-dip, in this episode of Caually Hard-Core, I'm playing the excellent Akai Katana. Here's why I think it's the best shooter Cave has ever made, even if I still like EspGaluda II a tiny bit more.

I cleared the Shin game on Switch and would recommend that version, since I didnt have noticeable issues, input lag is not really big. Nice review! I love this game

I got the Switch version a couple weeks ago and it played well enough, just as good as 360, I'd say.
Really enjoying your new direction / return to form. This style of video is very natural and retains a lot of the informative qualities of BH.
Also, this new port seems like a great opportunity to try and into the game again. I bounced off it on release due to the mechanics and screen orientation but have always thought it seemed like a lot of fun once you understand how it works
Man, that 16:9 mode alone makes me want to buy this again. Will try to resist until the Steam Black Friday sale.

I got this on the Switch and absolutely LOVE it! I'm not especially sensitive to input lag, so it's negligible to me. Not once have I died thinking it was the fault of Lag. Having this portable is an amazing bargain. Importing was also the way to go because you can choose the language right from the jump.

Cool, glad it's working out for you. I'm still staying away from Switch releases unless they're exclusive though. If I can play it on PS4, I will. Too much inconsistency.
I wouldn't say that. It's not elitist at all to expect consistency. The fact is, City Connection doesn't offer the quality that, say, Livewire does on Switch. If PS4 is available, I'll always get it over switch for better overall performance. Just facts.
You have a weird definition of what angry means. But you know... maybe don't call people derogatory names like "elitist?" Never mind that you're being inflammitory, but I don't think that word means what you think it does.
@@Gure_Shimo I'm glad that Mudprints talks about the little nitpicks even though I personally don't really care about a little more lag myself. It is nice that someone brings the facts and not simply pretend everything is alright. True information is important and the guy knows what he talk about so it's fun to have an opinion from a professional in the matter. There are plenty and I mean plenty of other channels out there that mitigate the truth about what is really it. The Switch version is my prefered way to play Akai Katana for many reasons and it's okay for everyone. I'm glad to know the true though.
Talk about fun yo! I forgot where i took a screen shot of alot of nice pieces that came with someone's order that included two light acrylic cubes. So righteous you are m'lord Ser on the airplanes to be included. Thankz.
As much as I love my PS4, I'm probably still gonna get this for my Switch. It's travel size! Playing some quality shooters at the airport, or hotel room, or visiting family is way better than not playing it at all. ☺

I've been playing a lot of Ibara BL lately in MAME. That deserves a re-release. Hopefully the rivalry between City Connection and Live Wire will drive one of them to put that out.
always had been interested in shin mode since I have seen ppl play it. so that's what I have been playing since release only. I usually dislike horizontals, but the design of it is just too cool.

That exA-Arcadia hardware is getting serious, they're bringing so many old titles to it, even remaking some very old games in the process. Like P-47 Aces for example, a rather mundane shooter NMK did in '95. The games on the exA also tends to have new modes and extra functions that most base game don't have. Infinos Gaiden is a good example, the exA version is far superior than the watered down version we got for PC
What's their deal, they have to know the arcade scene is mostly dead in the western hemisphere, do they honestly expect your average players to try to get their hands on this hardware just for a few slightly modified games than the original?
For some, yes and no. Expensive as the hardware and games it may be.
Not on the xbox store, sadly.

@@TBtheking405216 Norwegian here, but I can see how that might sting a little. Have faith, the XBox is rising from the ashes as we speak. New first party games finally releasing this year. :)
@@Phreno_Xeno True, however, techincally, it is on the Xbox store (for both One and Series), unless you're willing to region hop to JP/Asia digital xbox stores. However, City Connection mentioned a while back (via twitter) that they'll get the digital console releases up stateside eventually. (Along with a physical release down the line too.)

The Shin/Slash mode is my favorite thing Cave ever made, it's ridiculously fun going for high scores.

Not in a review capacity. Other channels have that audience now. We built groundwork for a decade and lost a lot of our audience in 2020 to other personalities. Our view numbers tell all.
I do whatever interests me these days; if I'm gonna get crappy views, I mightas well like what I'm making.

I'm caught between picking it up on switch because it's portable and PS4 because it has better input lag...
I don't have a 360 so that version is a no-go.
This is pass for me. I sent about $20 for this game back in early 2020 and I simply don't see the benefit of paying $50 for slight additions.
That's fair. This isn't a review though, and it's not $50 for the base game, just the middle-tier collector's edition with the CD, clearfile and acylic.

Still haven't got the switch version I'm really hoping they decide to release it worldwide on the eshop
City Connection is planning to release it overseas on the digital console stores later on. With physical releases also upcoming.

Dude, I keep seeing indie devs and ports primarily targeting switch and the result is laggy and unoptimised. Meanwhile owning a new gen console means waiting a year for these games to crop up. Just dire.
I know. I've put up with it for far too long. I'll always play on PS4 or PC over switch if I can.

Some devs out there can just be lazy when it comes to bringing games to Switch, sadly.
Not lately. These days a responsive shmup is the rare exception, not the rule. Just facts.
@@StudioMudprints Well the ones I've played are perfectly fine. (Raiden games, Cotton, and Crimzon Clover) But in general devs can just be lazy. *coughpokemoncough*
