The narrative of the two men tormented by demons and later healed by Jesus is one of the most emblematic passages in the Bible. However, many are unaware of the reason why the evil spirits asked to be sent to the pigs.

Here is the meaning of this event. Pigs are an obvious enough indication of Gentiles, swine being the most unclean of foods to Jews, and this raises the question of a political meaning. When the language is understood,,it is seen by the pesherist that this is a record of a turning point in the Gospel period. 'LEGION' was Theudus-Barabbas, the Chief Therapeut, whose order of Therapeuts who lived in Egypt but whose elders and married members had a center in Rome, so living in both the 'Tombs' ( the Egyptian pyramids) & the 'Mountains' (the 7 hills of Rome). Therapeuts held communal meals. These ecstatic communal meals lasting all night long, are described by Philo and account for the image of frenzy. Even when they lived in Rome, they could be zealot, having 'demons'. But in this year, 31AD, that of Agrippa's change of allegiance, Theudas was also changing to Sadducee views, less hostile to Rome, and the spirits of zealotry went into other members of the mission, those led by a man called the 'Two Thousand ', a title with similar meaning to the 'Five Thousand'. Now word about Gerasa. Gerasa, a well known place whose ruins have been found, was approximately 60 kilometers from shore of Lake Galilee. In the pesher, however, Jesus was traveling on the Dead Sea, and arrived at Ain Feshkha on the seashore; it was was the place where the head of the order meeting at Gerasa came for councils. Therefore, Ain Feshkha would be Gerasa when the head of that order was there.

Regarding clean and unclean foods. Most of the Christians nowadays believe that in the book of Acts they relate that the foods are considered clean when we pray and God will surely sanctify the foods. In my understanding is not about food but it's about gentiles who considered clean for recognizing Jesus as the Messiah.
18 And he said to them, “Then are you also without understanding? Do you not see that whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile him, 19 since it enters not his heart but his stomach, and is expelled?”f (Thus he declared all foods clean.)

If you folks actually read the whole paragraph you will see that Peter declared the vision meant all gentile deserve to hear the good news not just the Jews. Nothing to do with unclean foods. Peter was a Jews and would never dream of eating something God had set aside as unclean foods source. Thinking logically instead of superstitions. How can unclean foods turn into clean foods? How can feces be edible? And should you eat it? How about venom and poison?

This I will never understand. Why is being rich such a bad thing? Just because someone is rich doesn't make him bad. A lot of the time is circumstance and circumstance doesn't make a person evil

Jesus said help the poor. If you have enough money to be rich, Then you have enough money to feed the hungry, house the homeless, help someone less fortunate than your rich self. It may not be an evil act in itself, but it represents complacency to suffering, and the opposite of jesus teachings.
The reason they were cast into the pigs.
Jesus said go,the trap was set.
The enemy, GOD put them in chains(2Peter 2) ,after the crucifixion Jesus went to minister to them telling them they did not prevent His arrival in their attempt to pollute the human blood line and that also He presented Himself victorious to them.
This leaves His enemy that was not restrained,when Jesus said "Go"they went into and drowned the the pigs,still free to roam after that ,the wisdom of GOD
Jesus won the victory against them and nailed them to the cross,they driving the men as they did the pigs crucified, (1 Cor 2 6&8),Jesus and Jesus willing accepted this

Had they known..the enemy with it's legalities would have questioned Jesus by saying how can You say You won when we never fight ,so Jesus sorted that question out as well by nailing them to the cross so the spirits of suicide, aggression and torment that tormented that man were nailed to the cross,He was their victim for our victory.
That is the reason they were not cast into the abyss and left to roam,for the final fight and defeat at the cross...had they known(1Cor 2 vs)

I think you’re off the mark. The human bloodline was polluted (sin entered) at the fall in Eden. Causing all things to be corrupted, state of entropy (a progressive decline). Which, by the way, means that we’re not evolving but rather de-evolving. This “contamination” was carried over to the new world by the eight surviving people. I say this because of this verse: ”For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.“ Romans 6:23 KJV
Question: did everyone on that boat die? Yes, they all died. They received their wages, as we all will too. It’s not so much about the bloodline. Our fleshly bodies are unredeemable, it’s our spirit being that is redeemed when we come to Christ Jesus. We will be given incorruptible bodies later.
Jesus came (put on flesh) to earth to redeem us, (to buy us back) those which are his; John 6:37-40. To reconcile us back with God. He came to fulfill the law and the prophecies.
God put those rebellious angels in chains in the abyss because they left their proper domain (left heaven for earth) Jude 1:6. because of their abominable act with human women.
Jesus’ descent into the underworld was to take the keys from Satan and minister to the believers pre-messiah. When Jesus resurrected He took those people with Him to heaven.
”and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, and came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.“

The message of the holy bible (Gods testimony), is of reconciliation and redemption for those who believe.
I hope I was able to cover everything you mentioned. I was mainly focused on your first paragraph. Though I still think the question as to why Jesus obliged the demons of their request and not send them wandering is up in the air. However, the point is that the demons had to ask for permission from Jesus. Absolutely nothing happens without first going through the hands of God.
The original sin brought about the downfall of mankind 1 Peter 3 19 ,20 shows Jesus preached to imprisoned spirits who were disobedient, sleeping with woman.
For me this is a separate classification.
My approach was to show how the imprisoned angels will face judgment and that the roaming angels had to be conquered.
Please by way of scripture and other references show me your point of view as to what I have said to you being notcorrect ,for me up in the air was pinned down with scripture.I did not mention original sin the departure point between us I feel is the question of bloodline, I meant fallen angels slept with woman hybrids were being produced to pollute the proper human male and female bloodline,these fallen angels were preached to by Jesus 1 Peter 3.I don't see the relevance of mentioning the death of Noah and his family in your response they were the righteous saved by GOD and were Mary's bloodline pure 100 percent human's ,you mention sin entering in eden and putting to death all mankind,if that is true your concept of original sin and your bloodline case is refuted by Enoch and Elijah.

I don't agree with the theory at the end of the piece saying it was better to save a human than a pig. That wasn't really the decision. It was cast them into Hell or into the pigs. They were being cast out of the man either way. Now if you had presented that this act showed mercy (at least temporarily till judgement) and that Jesus sacrificed the pigs to show mercy to the demons then I could agree with that.
I believe the theology behind it is more complex, understanding that demons are wandering spirits of dead Nephilim. It’s true what he states though that God values us (humans) more than anything else or why would He send His one and only son, Jesus to redeem us? He made the ultimate sacrifice for us.

My understanding is that demons cannot ascend to heaven nor descend to hell, (perhaps until the appointed time; judgment day?) hence the earth wandering spirit and with that they desire a host, if you will.
That would be a good question for you to ask a good theologian.

@residuejunkie1234 from Luke:8:33 " Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked." devils / demons doesn't make much difference. I think most translations use demon instead of lower case devil to denote lesser evil beings than and use Devil = Satan head of the evil hosts. This makes it more clear what is being refered to when reading or speaking.

Jesus went down into hell to tell the fallen angels that they failed to prevent His arrival and victory when they tried to pollute humanity by having sex with woman these creatures were chained 2 Peter 2 vs 4,that leaves the rest of the devils who were free,Jesus said go into the pigs and did not cast them into the pit ,because He was to have the final victory over them at the cross for our liberty the devils could have said we never fought you so how can you say You won
