Never have I seen such greed. Asking for 40%, then asking for him to also include his premises and then asking him to exclude his directors loan which is basically his salary just so the dragons can get the best deal and the highest profit back. Good on you Clive for declining them.
@god don 1 yea they went through the balance sheet, it only made 3k profit but it owns a property and 1/4 mill worth of stock so he did the correct thing.
Why didnt he suggest that when the Dragons money was repaid they EACH went down from 13.333% (40%) to 10% (30%). That would surely have been a possibility, they usually go for those deals. They werent particularly fair with him though. Write off the directors loan, chip in a BUILDING AND want 40%. Dont blame him for turning it down.
ProfRogers I agree, but he was lucky to get an offer at all. He’s hard headed and evidently doesn’t have a good head for business. Even with their stingy offer, he’d be significantly better off accepting it.
So funny how when one of these investors make an offer there's always one of their colleagues who describe their offer as "generous" or as a "lifeline." I know that visiting investors pitching their businesses shouldn't just look at the equity amount but to try to gain nearly half the person's company is assuming the investor is so desperate for money they'll accept the offer regardless of equity amount. They shouldn't be allowed to make these ridiculous low ball offers. It's taking advantage of people who are often just starting out in their own company. It would be better for this guy to just take it slowly instead of giving away 40% of a company hrs built up over the last 20 years. They also want him to include a property.... No way. 🤷🏻♂️
Stupid decision. The difference was 10% of a bottom line of $3200...3 Dragons and $250,000?!?!? I would’ve taken that deal all day long. People forget - it’s not about how much you can keep...in the right business model 60% is well enough to retire on if you get it right...people aren’t that smart...
Obviously you haven't built a business. When you have spent a lot of time and money into something. In this case 20 years. It's hard to give away 40% of it for any amount of money.
Hey genius, the company owns stock of £250k and a property with equity of around £360k. At 40%, they immediately own assets of £244k, effectively buying 40% of the company for 6k. By refusing to budge from 40%, they’re effectively saying fuck you, we have no faith in you at all but we’d be happy to get our hands on your other assets...
I disagree. He was not greedy. Jst put in alot of money and years to build something up and give 40% away to the greedy dragons was not an easy choice. Google his company now. Seems like he made it in his own... Wise move from him
Lol owning a massive warehouse, being owed 100k by the company, and having 250k in stock.... all for less than a third of what that’s all worth and losing 40% of his company. Hahahaha people in this comment section are delusional and dumb as shit living in a irrational hollywood-esque fantasy.
Also, he has more experience than any of them in what he does. If you haven’t started a company yourself or been involved in a start up, you have no fucking clue what you’re talking about... it’s insanely difficult. Lol
He was being very reasonable including the building and writing off a 100k loan due to himself. They were trying to sucker him, he made the right choice
Do you know what a bounty is? Your not the brightest are you, it’s like the Alum rock boys label your self a name, Ali known as cobra, Javid known as killer, and he’s not a celebrity he’s a businessman, Katie price is a celebrity,so your the muppet
@@jamilakhtar2963 Judging by your ignorance and English you're obviously someone who is not from the UK. Ok, let me explain it in simple terms for you. People change their names all the time. It's nothing new or something for you to get alarmed about. Secondly, James Caan isn't just a businessman. He's a dragons den investor. That means he's on TV! Anyone who is involved in TV entertainment is known as a celebrity. Check out the definition. It doesn't just have to be Amitabh Bachan. Understand now?
Sadik Meah Your not that clever check your history and your background, Bangladeshi you are a immigrant I bet James caan got you into the UK, You cant take the fact, give you another example Amir Khan a top Pakistani boxer, Alan caan? Chew on paan and get on with it, you seem to have a bond with James caan, do you work for him as a toilet cleaner
@@jamilakhtar2963 Sorry, can you rewrite your comment I am having trouble understanding your English. Are you from Africa? I think you said something like James Caan has treated your Bangladeshi mother's vagina like a toilet? Please, you must not speak about your mother like this. She gave you birth. Africans normally have a lot of respect for their parents. I am disappointed in you.
Man, fuck diamond engagement rings, I'd kill my fiance if he spent that much on something that's got zero resale value. Check out Adam Ruins Everything on that topic.
Not enough clips of this Dragon line up, by far the best lineup
wrong, they are missing Doug Richards, he was the best!
He's a nonce

TheDeepShallowness example work out 30% of £400 000 for reference purposes it adds up a lot.

TheDeepShallowness plus’s also they don’t take 40 of the profits untill the company is massive
The puke will never get any investment, if he's always including his family! Are they gonna help him big time, like a Dragon would? He's silly.
