Having the guilt of three dogs deaths on my conscience via feeding them what I thought was 'healthy' kibble and taking them for regular annual shots which the vet told me was very necessary, they ended up old and sick before their time - after taking on another unwanted dog I did a deep dive into animal health and feed her the best raw meat and vegetables, combined with raw free range chicken wings which she absolutely loves amd her bowl is licked clean, she has a beautiful glossy coat, clean white teeth and boundless energy - Happy dog - happy owner -

I'm 68 & have noticed the change In dog & cat food since I was a child, I have rescued for years & am on limited income so can only give them what I can afford, I try to give raw or cooked meat when I can, I was 1s short money so bought cheep cat biscuits the cats wouldn't eat it, I put it in greenhouse on a shelf that got pushed to bk & forgot about, I found it couple years later not touched even by the rats going in thaire( & I did have rats) I even put it out for our foxes they wouldn't touch it, nor the slugs & snails which tells me everything I need to know, had to put in bin, I did get Bella & duke for couple months but when your feeding 13 cats it's impossible to afford for 1 on a pension never mind 13.😢

My German Shepherd is 3 yrs old. He was weened onto raw at 3 weeks old and its all he has ever known. He is stunning. Thick glossy long coat, healthy inside and out and is rarely ill. Vets hate the raw diet. They say it makes a dog vicious, it puts you at risk of serious food poisoning - well thats any meat. Human grade or not if you dont observe safe food handling you can get poisoning. As for vicious, my GSD is the most placid GSD ive ever come across. He adores people. And when hes chewing on his piece of veal spine/neck at tea time he is totally blissed out. Hes actually enjoying every bit rather than just eating to fill his belly.
He had the core 3 puppy jobs only, hasnt had and boosters and i dont use chemical work/flea treatments. There is a natural resolve for both.
    Raw is best.

    • @4doglady
      @4doglady Місяць тому +3

Honestly, it wouldn't cost that much. I've got three dogs - 1 small, 1 medium and 1 large, and they cost me about £75 for purchased raw food and I supplement with raw chicken drumsticks or wings from the supermarket. You can also buy human meat a lot cheaper than dog meat and buy a bag or two of raw frozen offal and chicken hearts from Nature's Menu that you can pick up all over the place. 80% meat, 10% bone and 10% offal. That's all you need to think about. If the pet food manufacturers say that a large dog will need about 900-1000g of food a day, don't forget that will include any extras such as treats. My labradoodle is 38kgs and she only has 350g raw manufactured food, 2 or 3 drumsticks at about 300g and and 50-100g of treats/dried rabbits ears etc. Don't give up! It will be worth it. Get reduced supermarket meat as well!

Back in 1976 I was looking for inexpensive bread while travelling in Hawaii. I came across a very cheap loaf but when I looked at the ingredients, it read 80% cellulose. Now cows can digest cellulose but not humans. All the way back in 1976, people were basically being given sawdust to eat! In today’s world, maybe the same loaf would be touted as being an excellent source of roughage - very rough indeed.

I've been feeding my dogs raw since they were born and not jabbing them continually either. However, in the last couple of months two of the three dogs developed life-threatening illnesses (meningitis and aggressive melanoma in toe) simultaneously, with the third developing a nasty cough every time we went out for a walk. Investigating why they got ill simultaneously, we realised it's from walking them in crop fields that are sprayed constantly with highly toxic pesticides/herbicides/fungicides. Once you start looking into this you quickly realise that these toxins stay in the ground for a long time and dogs absorb them into their feet. But no-one talks about this. And it is affecting all of us who live in arable rural areas - these toxins are affecting all wildlife and everything that enjoys being in the countryside. Be warned people, we (personally) have been to hell and back after a summer and autumn of intensive spraying but these toxins are being absorbed through the skin and airways and not necessarily through their food. And it's getting worse.

She has never had any jabs. She is 15 years old King Charles x Maltese.
I give her apple cider vinegar, hemp oil and a molasses based animal liquid sweet feed containing seaweed, vitamins, minerals, trace elements with vitamin E and selenium. Everyone thinks she's a puppy and are amazed to find out how old she is. She's only been to a vet 3 times for a check.

I started by feeding my horses a species specific diet, no bagged feeds which are mainly by products of milling and have no nutritional value whatsoever. No supplements which are just a sales gimmick, most of them. I then started feeding my dogs a species specific diet just as described here on your show. Then I turned to myself and my husband! We buy all our meat now from our local butcher. Veg and butter etc from our local farmers market and have cut back from most carbs and sugars. It actually does not cost a huge amount more for us and the animals because we have cut out the rubbish.

As i said before i created a pet food business & had a white label co make it, it was 80% meat then rice but they stole my ingredients & gave it to a large company starting with A & had to do just 60% but we fell out as they then tried to rip me off again. Cats &dogs need 80% min meat fresh ideally no grains except rice or potatoes as main base if want too then the vits/mins they need.
Due to greed i lost over 100k by that company which is not alot too some

I can talk about cats and raw. I had 6 at once for over a decade and I was starting them on raw since 4 of them were born. I had the mom, dad and 4 kittens. What happened was that as soon as they tasted high quality kibble (best I could buy and very expensive) most cats stopped eating the raw food. I tried many types. I believe that any dry food will change the taste buds performance in cats and I can tell there is hardly a middle way. Only one cat out of 6 was eating both. Dogs most likely are less picky. With cats it is more tricky.

My dog is 13 and although she has had the odd vaccine ie when she was a puppy, and once when I needed doggy daycare, I now never get her jabbed, I treat any infections myself with colloidal silver and I try to feed her as healthy food that I can afford at the time. I have tried raw food but she has a habit of leaving food in her dish for hours and is quite a picky eater so I was concerned about bacteria. I have discovered a freeze dried raw dog food which is great if you are away from home but is extremely expensive. I’m also just trying her on a dried food that you mix with water that has no nasties in it and she seems to love, so I’m going with that atm. Just trying to keep her as healthy as I can for as long as I can

The problem is that people are so concerned with making a living they don’t even have the time or the education readily available. They feed their kids burgers and biscuits, sweets and cokes so why would they even consider feeding their pets anything but kibble that is advertised as the greatest food for a dogs well being! Those same people put a plate of cereal in the mornings for their kids and fill the dogs bowls with kibble!….. so sad! It’s all about educating the public!

My boy now is 8 years old..fit and healthy..plenty of games and off lead walks…A lot of people don’t have their dogs off a lead these days .list so sad..1,the dog isn’t getting its heart rate up to expel any toxins from there bodies….remember they are breathing in chem trails like us!!!?…I have a friend who had a Belgium shepherd lived to only 9 yrs..he had cancer..my friend gave him the best diet I have ever seen a dog have and no vaccines ..the dog had his own freezer full of the best fresh meat ..kifeer on his dish ….we also have Water..what water are you giving your dogs..?!!!..

I keep saying raw/steam cooked dog food may look expensive, but it works out cheaper. You get less vet bills! Far less. Also less training fees. You would be amazed the number of people who came to me with dog behavioural problems, which were driven by the muck their dogs were fed. Change the diet, and the dog becomes far easier to train. One lady went mental with me "I have spent a fortune at the vets with this dog, having blood tests, scans, medication, and then I come to you, you tell me to change the diet and the issues all went away?????? and I have paid you a fraction of what the vet demanded". I never saw her again! I also know people who changed the diet of their young dog, saw the results within a week, so then changed their old dogs diet, and once again Old dog no longer need medication, and lasted longer than the owners were told! So many though won't change the diet, and don't believe it, and these dogs end up going from bad to worse, or even end up being rehomed! it's less so now, butt I used to have a very hard time from the vets, who ended up refusing to refer people to me. I even had one of the reps turn up at my home telling me that unless I shut up, he would make sure that none of the vets would ever refer to me again. He threatened them that he would take away their access to prescription diets. That would actually do so many dog owners a massive favour. These 'prescription diets' are a massive massive con and marketing spin!!!!!!

This strikes me as a money grabbing exercise. Sorry Richard, but you can make your own cheaper.
