*Contact faded* Raptor:You gotta be kidding me that would be so loud the sonar operator would be throwing his headset off Me: Thats why the contact faded
Actually its because raptor has "purposfully" hidden his submarine within the noise of each ships engines, they know he is their, but are not certain where and dont wanna guess
This was CRAZY and hilarious. Bunch o' laughs and a successful attack on a massive carrier. Awesome! Thanks for watching and suggest some more scenarios.
+Raptor. helpful tip for missiles, if a ship is running away from you ignore the aiming dot and set the missile's enable point (blue box you move around) behind the ship, the seeker will do the rest
Raptor, when are you going to realise that firing at the blue dot is a freaking bad idea? you gotta fire at that blue dot but closer so your damn weapon can activate and search before it get on top of your target and start searching.
_"Okay so it's morning time, just complete some repairs..."_ Oh okay, it seemed like you were straight up sinking last night but I guess what doesn't kill you makes you stronger ;P
Raptor Yup. The Conqueror sank the ARA General Belgrano, a former US Navy light cruiser of the Brooklyn-class that was then the USS Phoenix. The Phoenix saw action from the Japanese raid in Pearl Harbor on December 7th, to various battles around the Pacific including the Battle of Leyte Gulf in which she fired a spread of torpedoes and is credited with helping sink the Japanese battleship Yamashiro.
Yeah, but those argentinian were quite incompetent, the ASW escorts were pretty much useless and the CL wasnt even buttoned up while cruising through a combat zone, the SSN got time to call home, ask for permission, wait for them to make up their mind and then sink her... a sitting duck. I am pretty sure that crew had had tougher sinkex...
The harpoons are really fast. You need to fire them so that they go active behind the ship or it won't hit. The blue circle is where you need to target for unguided torps.
You have to aim before the contact on the map so the missiles have time to lock on, and when firing torpedoes you have to aim a bit before the blue box, for the same reason.
i think it's not a bug, those two ships switch to passive sonar to ear the subs, i guess because the active sonar "ping" in front... so they stop to ear the sub... (those ships haven't got towed aray so stop is the best solution...)
@@snp117 the active sonar of those ships should have gotten him a long time ago. they also wouldnt come close. the moment they think a sub is at a certain lokation they fire torps or send helis to drop more sonars or torps. thats at least as far as my experience with this game goes.
@Raptor you fired your harpoons at the estimated bearing point of the Kiev carrier, meaning they only enabled their sensors after they flew past the Kiev, that's why they flew off to the right and then crashed into the water. With harpoons, you need significant distance (at least 5-10 kilometers) between your sub and the target vessel, and have your weapon enable its sensors *before* it reaches the enemy target vessel by stretching the targeting line of the weapon far enough from your sub that it turns from red to green and then click on the map on a point located between your sub and the target's position. Same thing goes for torpedoes, if the targeted enemy vessel is sailing *away* from you and you click the target mark past the enemy ship then torpedo will *overshoot* the target and *then* activate its sonar past the target vessel. If the targeted enemy vessel is coming at your sub, then clicking the torpedo target marker on the enemy vessel's estimated bearing point on the map (blue circle with blue square inside it) will make the torpedo enable sensors right under the targeted vessel. So, it's best to have all sub-launched weapons (harpoons and torpedoes) enable their sensors *before* they reach the intended target, so click the target marker with the left mouse button at a position on the map behind the enemy vessel you're targeting so the weapon's sensors will enable before it reaches the enemy ship.
at the 13:19 part the "Contact evaded? oh man that'd be so loud the sonar operator would be throwing off his headphones" ... that might be 'why' it evaded >.< Sonar Operator: "F-this noise!!!!!" *rips headset off* Captain: "Where is it?!?" Sonar Operator: "strait up, but beyond that hell if im going to know!"
The second their radar hit his con mast, they changed course straight for him. (The blue lines). But if they somehow didn't, the second he fired his torpedoes, his stealth was gone. Staying hidden in this game is very hard. And for those curious, yellow = sonar, blue = radar, and purple = ESM
Russian sailors had to remain home due to being sent to gulag and the Kremlin tasked numerous fishing vessel crew to take over the navy ships with 1 hour of non sober training.
the blue square is where the weapons go active, so when you place missile squares past the target they dont go active till they pass the target. you need top place the blue squares in a direction where they go active and see the ship then turn into the target. you might want to watch jivturkey and his coldwaters cast.
Awesome video man, keep it up. just a few suggestions: using harpoons you need to ignore the lead PIP and basically just aim towards the ship but not too close because the missile needs time to pick up the ship once it hits search mode. also I never see you use regular ballast (C and E keys), might help you surface and dive faster?
not a bug bro... active sonar ping in front, plus, the sub is between those 2 ships so they are confuse.... they switch to passive sonar but the sub stop moving... they ear the other ship, not the sub because he are less noisy...
@@snp117 That is a possible explanation. I would love to hear Jive Turkey explain his in a whiteboard video.... But it is possible to hide in the wake of a surface ship, the problem here is that the Russian escorts just sits there.... too close to use weapons.
@@57thorns Yep I used to hide in the wake of the ships in Red Storm Rising where possible, or I would have my Torpedoes approach from the rear of surface ships, and indeed Submarines and hit them from behind. Nothing like hitting a sub or ship from behind, and blowing the prop shaft seals.
Actually it was a classic case of raptor "accidentally" hiding in the prop noise (baffles) of the two ships, they needed the confirmation of him firing harpoons to find him hence why they waited till then to start attacking, they knew he was their, just didnt know where
Kiev got me like 3 times until I have figured out how to take her and her escort down without getting hit. This skip got her as if it's nothing. Good job! Maybe I should try the technique of sailing right beneath the enemy fleet and surprise attack them front their 6!
those tupolev TU-95 bears are a dangerous long ranger bomber. also able to be used as scout planes due to the range capability they have. the USSR made some beautiful weapons in the cold war. beautiful.
Lol. I’m dying. Raptor kept his mast up for a full minute. I don’t understand how 20 torpedos weren’t incoming. I can’t imagine how they didn’t pinpoint him?? What’s the general rule for keeping the mast up? I think it’s less than 15 seconds?
Those Russian ships are using tactics against you. The plane dropped that torpedo to scare you into maneuvers that would reveal your location and the ship was " sprint and drifting" you. Ship charges at your perceived location then cuts engines and drifts listening to sonar hoping you will bolt and evade. That's good EI
so if theyre like 1km away like that dd and they active ping you, that doesnt mean they know you're there? Trying to understand what to do when the yellow lines pop
How did sailors on those ships not see your periscope so close to their ships? And then missiles come out of the water right next to their boat! I bet a few of those guys on the decks of those boats wish they wore their brown pants. I have been watching these vids and thought about buying the game for a while but this is the vid that sold it, I gotta do this now.
The reason your harpoons doesn't work is because you need to put them right on the ship that way they have time to track the target if you have the ship moving left to right or right to left then you need to lead the target. hope you read this!
In reality the U.K. ministry of defence describe this class as the floating hulk it’s old under powered, under armed with primitive weapons and is literally rusting to death etc and is not considered a major threat.
You should’ve put some more distance between yourself and the escort vessels… When you launched the harpoon missiles that close, You essentially notified them of your position
Don't forget to like and subscribe! Great fun watching you play this game. A multiplayer game mode of this would be epic so you could sink some friends, that would be such a laugh.
That 1 ship stopping next to you, seemingly "as a fan" is actually pretty realistic. The "Soviet Union" was actually just Russia occupying a bunch of nations, so it's reasonable to assume that some ships (and many army units) would defect to fight the russians.
Shouldn't you fire your torpedos before the blue dots because that is where the ship is going to be? Or are they a lead sight that tells you where to fire to have best chance of hitting the target?
When you're looking at a ship through the periscope, press "i" to identify the ship. It's a 100% accurate identification and boosts the solution to 95%. Also stop firing weapons at the blue prediction circle. Aim them just before so the weapon activate and start it's search pattern.
I think The escort vessels were trying to do a protective screening tactic kind a like a sacrifice maneuver in case they detect more torpedoes in the water heading towards their carrier
