  • Washington, D.C. is known as the home of awesome monuments and center of our federal government. But for those who travel to visit the area, it is also known as the home of many prominent and fascinating museums. In particular, about 20 Smithsonian museums (and the Smithsonian National Zoo) all call the capital city of the United States home. And the best part is all of these Smithsonian museums are free to the public! We haven't been to all the Smithsonian museums (yet). But in this video, we take you along and show you just a few of the highlights of the most recent one we visited - the Smithsonian National Museum of American History. This museum had exhibits that tell the story of America's military history, political history and cultural history. You can see America's oldest surviving fighting vessel, the personal effects of a number of former Presidents, and even a couple of famous droids from the Star Wars films. Visiting the Smithsonian Museums is the BEST free activity in Washington, D.C. Watch this video to find out why!

Enjoyed visiting the American History Museum with you Jack and Alice. Loved seeing Clara Barton's ambulance! So many exhibits of our nations history. Ahh. But the entertainment section is where you find the folks! 😁😁That's a fun part of our history too. Just not the only part! The prices of the DC museums are great! Thanks for bringing us along.

Awesome video and sneak peek of the museums. We toured the National Mall and museums about 18 years ago and absolutely loved seeing all the museums and monuments. We spent 3 full days and barely scratched the surface of what you could see. I think we need to go back for more! Thanks for sharing your visit. So awesome! Have a wonderful day.

This was a grteat video well done. Love your filming and editing and your narration was perfect! We have not been to Washington DC yet but it is on the top of our list. We love museums and you covered everywhere we want to go perfectly without telling us to much which was so smart. Your video was so well done informative, enjoyable and moved quickly while entertaining. I would have agreed with you on seeing people pass up on some important history would make us sad as well. We have subscribed to your channel and will be supporting you we look forward to watching many more of your videos so well done. Our daughter lived in New york for 3 years it was difficult to cover everything when we would visit. Thanks Jack and Alice love your channel!

Hi guys this museum looked great and even better that its free ! So much in there to see for all ages i guess. That ambulance wagon was amazing to look at and so was that boat found at the bottom of the lake and the cannonball. The house full of history was my favourite exhibit and the star spangled banner story. The entertainment exhibit looked great though and I would really love to see those ruby slippers ! That was a great tour :) ~ Anna 👍

Oh man I’ll be a little behind you on releasing our DC Museum videos. Hopefully I’m not too influenced. You presented it so well. The kids have no idea of dialed knobs. We went a couple weeks after you guys went.
With a 5 year old, our pace was pretty fast as we checked our the exhibits. Seeing the first ladies dress was one of my favorite. The Star Spangled flag is the reason I go back even though we can’t film.

DC was one of our last real road trips recently! But never had a chance to hit the Smithsonians. And it's a LOT of Smithsonians (not all 20+, of course) that I went to back when I was a kid decades ago. The kid and I have a LOT of Amtrak trips to take to hit them all, and we plan to after our move to Philly.
ALL about the Civil War stuff. Gettysburg is on our list since the move.
I'm not sure Vietnam was a real-time war as much as what we now see with 24-hour news sources that didn't exist in the 60s & 70s.
The presidency IS a glorious burden. A powerful one. It must be used right, for the right reasons.
The displays of Louis Armstrong and Sister Rosetta Tharpe. NICE.
George was a bodybuilder in the day, wasn't he? LOL
The National Anthem exhibit...want to see Fort McHenry in Baltimore, too.
R2D2! And AnonyMommy will be all about the Wizard of Oz slippers.

All the Smithsonian Museums we have been to have been really fascinating. We highly recommend if you ever find yourself in Washington, D.C. in the future. We accept your apology for sinking our gunboat in 1776. LOL. What is an old boat between friends? That Kennedys board game though. Terrible game in retrospect. Thanks for watching and commenting!
