    This is why my Bahamian mom and grandmom always said for skin, scalp and hair issues, take a dip in the ocean. 😂 The Caribbean sea is quite clear and clean, so. 😊 Whenever I go and swim, I scrub my scalp and make sure to stay in the water at least 30 mins. My locs always are so shiny and lightweight afterwards

      I never got to go to the Caribbean as an adult, but lived in Hawaii for a few years. My never hair never felt so soft as after getting in the ocean there. Next softest was in a place with soft water (filtered tap water system).

    I've been using baking soda on my hair for approximately a year now; I use it in my black soap shampoo that I make and I use in my black soap facial scrub. To the black soap and baking soda I add rose water, witch hazel and ACV "occasionally" along with honey, glycerin and e-oil all have great cleansing and moisturizing properties. Overall it slightly dried out my bleached hair but I cut those already damaged ends and now my one year new growth is thick and dense. I use a direct scalp cleanse with baking soda and aloe vera, that cleans my scalp really well then I do a light wash with my shampoo. I do rinse with warm water every or most wash days. All in all baking soda is a staple in my regimen, it's there to stay I also add it to my body wash with a carrier and essential oil and I add it to my toothpaste with cinnamon ess. oil that's great for oral health. I literally use baking soda from head to toe. When I feel super hero like i add baking soda to my brother's toothpaste or bath wash saving the world one mouth or body at a time.

    I really appreciate the amount of research, time and effort you put into your videos! The baking soda vinegar combo is a no for me. Isn't that what we used to make our homemade volcanoes "erupt" in elementary school science class?
    I understand the importance of cleansing, detoxifying and clarifying the hair and scalp, but don't bentonite and rhassoul clay provide similar benefits and are much safer to use on a regular basis?

    • @chalseywilder937

      Katherine Miller exactly. Henna is too, and can have a loosening effect some desire

    • @PackofDiscos
      @PackofDiscos 7 років тому +22

      Bentonite clay has the same pH as baking soda. It's doing almost the exact same thing to hair. I wouldn't use it alone too often either. However, I don't believe it reacts with acv the way baking soda does, so maybe by mixing it with acv or aloe juice (as is usually recommended) you are able to lower the pH to the safe zone, but still maintain the properties of the bentonite clay.
      I've requested a bentonite clay series, so hopefully it's coming soon!

    I personally used it on first wash with my shampoo I only wash my scalp. Then rehash depending on how much shampoo I need to lathering, I rehash again or don't. Then I rinse with white 5° some times. Only do this once a month, and rinse with vinegar every other month, before if needed. Like in the summer time. Like every 2-3 weeks and once a month the vinegar rinse.

    Listen to her, girls 👆 I started the NoPoo Method 3 months ago and I only used 1 teaspoon of baking soda in 4 cups of water, followed by an ACV rinse. At first, it was perfect, my hair seemed to be healthier than ever and I was happy that I found something to replace shampoos with. After 3 months, however, my scalp became so itchy I could barely stand it, and my hair lost its natural curls (2b-2c) and became frizzy and almost straight. Now I'm trying the WO method, hope it will be what I'm looking for.
    Hope this helps, and thank you sweetheart for opening our eyes 💜💜💜

    Hello, Thank you so much for your video. I used to do baking soda and conditioner co-washes all the time and they were really great at getting rid of the dirt and buildup and also made my hair the softest it has has ever been. I had to quit when my hair started to feel brittle and now I use bentonite clay mixed with acv, oil, honey, and commercial conditioner instead. It would be great if you would do a bentonite clay series because I mix my own clay. Before I use the clay I use diluted acv as a scalp rinse (because I have really hard water and am trying to remove buildup), then commercial shampoo diluted with water, then I use the clay as a second cleanser that is also conditioning. I have been trying to figure out if I should move my acv rinse to after the clay but my low porosity hair is so stubborn that I am afraid I would tighten my cuticles too much. But I also cannot tell if I am leaving my cuticles too relaxed after washing at this point. It would be great to learn more about the science of clay washes and hair cuticles so I can get and keep as much moisture in my hair as possible.
