- The ALL NEW GMC Yukon is becoming a sales, but does bigger always mean better if you go with the XL? Under the hood of this SLT trim Yukon XL is a 5.3L V8 that is producing 355HP & mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. On the outside the Yukons has been totally redesigned from top to bottom but still has that familiar look. On the inside the changes really show in the construction, materials, and technology. Is the 2021 GMC Yukon XL an extra long SUV worth buying ?

I love my new Denali XL ultimate package. Make sure you get the 6.2l for that extra power and that transmission shifts so smoothly. No need to spend the extra 20k for a Escalade unless you just want dashboard gimmicks
I bought my Escalade-V ESV back in 2022, and I love it, and the kids love it. It’s fun to drive, But I’d probably go with a Yukon XL after the Escalade dies out because of prices right now.

@downgraded Justin Y. the Yukons, suburban, escalades are really well built. Only full size suvs with better reliability ratings are the Sequoia and Land Cruiser.

It very well could be worth buying. It will just be a little harder to park when you're at the mall. And maybe even harder to turn through the drive-thru at McDonald's.

It never ceases to amaze me how GM successfully markets the GMC brand. They're literally nothing but rebadged Chevys, although throughout the years they've given GMCs their own unique fascias.... I just find it kinda crazy people are willing to pay the premium for one of these over a comparable Chevy...I do love the styling of GMCs though. Hopefully the GMC Hummer EV will lead to all GMCs becoming Hummers! Make GMC unique!!

The front is definitely more tame than the Tahoe/Suburban. Looks good, but the Tahoe/Suburban is more attention grabbing and more special looking.
Me and my dad was watching a video on this yesterday, especially one that was upgraded to be fully armored.

For those with lower height garages…say less than about 10 feet from floor to garage door opening…..
Very strong recommendation…… either use manual lift gate opening or set the power to only open 3/4…..open the rest manually. The lift gate being open makes the overall height higher than you think….especially with the 22” rims and tires.

Sittingni. The drivers seat I count. About seven spots within immediate vicinity and easy reach of driver without even thinking about it. Six of them can actually contain the phone without it being a shrapnel hazard during panic braking.
Wireless Charging sounds good but unlike phone storage I could think about of about two-three dozen ways that either the phone and or charging pad could get damaged…..fortunately for me I was one of the ones that had WC deleted.
Push/pull transmission is a slight learning curve but fairly quick one…. Like any column shift automatic transmission you pull towards you for Reverse and Drive and release forward when into park. The learning curve is quicker than you think. After less than two weeks I had a RAV-4 rental while Tahoe is getting ClearBra…I went to the dashboard to look for the transmission shifter. One safety …well two.
1….if engine start/stop button is pushed while in Gear…..automatically switches to Park.
2. If Parking brake is set placing to a motion gear (drive/reverse) Parking brake will self release with throttle use.
When you get past the thought of trying to park a commercial airliner into a wine glass it’s fine. Just leave plenty of room and probably way more than you think you need. View is commanding while driving but view is taller than you think you are. There are two camera views you need to get familiar with pretty quick….especially residential garages. Forward and rear view…..fortunately a easy toggle between the two. One to prevent too far forward and leave yourself room to get around the front. One to make sure you are far enough inside to prevent the garage door from making contact with the rear bumper.
Remember the 2021 platform is almost 7” longer than the previous generation. I have to park closer to center of garage and after adjusting rear and front length than work around the passenger side of the vehicle to get inside door. First few days I had to leave garage door, enter house through main door then close garage door from inside the house.
Satin Steel is a nice color, hopefully they will bring back the Ice Silver soon. Three major color changes for 2022 but not sure if Satin Steel is one of the deletions.

Satin Steel metallic is also my favorite color too, my only Zonk is the 5.3 esp in the XL. I'm on my 4th Yukon and I highly recommend the 6.2 . It's a major upgrade, trust me.

I would like to see that GM should have ambien lighting to help inhance the interior I order a Yukon SLT MODEL with the 5.3L engine special order with no 4 wheel drive . I love the vehicle I all ways watch your vedio . Have a good day

In my opinion the Yukon looks the best out of the Tahoe and the Escalade the Escalade is a little extra on the technology
I would only have the Escalade for the interior

The compartment next to the screen is for SUNGLASSES they don’t have a sunglass holder on top or the school bus style mirror because they had to make room for the sliding center console buttons and the folding seat and sunroof controls please get that right next time and spread the word

couldn't agree more on the push/pull shifter. Literally you interact with it for about 3-4 seconds every time you drive and thats it. Honestly all the people who bitch about not having console or column shifters just feel the need to handle their big meaty shaft that they don't have

No quad exhaust tips on this trim level. It should be standard on all models.
