This has to be the most informative instruction on how to do the satin stitch neatly. Cotton may be somewhat forgiving but silk is not so I am so grateful that after 50 years of hand sewing I no longer have to fill in stupid gaps I've accidentally made because of my lack of knowledge. So simple but solves a multitude of problems. Thank you so much and I hope you do more videos in the future (or a book, that would be nice).

Ive been doing satin stitch for decades....wrongly. I was never happy with it and tried avoiding it. Doing an embroidery just now and it bugged me so much i came on youtube to try and improve . So glad i found you, THE best explanation I have ever seen! Thank you

I am a beginner and the satin stitch is the very stitch that had me stop for a while and finally picked up embroidery again. Every video I found only showed satin stitch when it’s a straight line.

So much useful information in 1 video. I came across this video a while ago and knew I was going to need it in the future. Today was the day. Lots of practicing to do, it needs to come out nice for my next project. A handbag with embroidered and tule flowers and one side done completely with embroidered leaves. I think leaves are often even more fun to do than the flowers so I really want them to come out nice.

It's so interesting that I've noticed some of these effects from inserting my needle at different angles, and I've been using it constructively to fix my mistakes XD
But it's nice to see it explained and applied properly!! I feel like my project is about to be an exhibit of improvements!

This was VERY helpful. Thank you. I have a couple questions. Do you first outline the shape with a backstitch? If so, I assume you use one strand. How many strands of closed would you use for a shape this size?
I apologize if you have answered these questions in other videos. If so, could you give me the links?
    Thanks.

Mine when I have done them turn out gappy. Do you need to do base stitching in the bed of the image being sewn before the satin stitching over the top
