Thank you. Have embroidered since I was 13 (am now going on 76). My stitching is quite good, but my French knots were not even. Now I know what I do wrong. I might use one, two or three threads but I automatically wrap two or sometimes three times! No wonder my knots are not even. Watching you, I thought I will imitate you & found I constantly wanted to wrap too many times. Thank you again, wish I had a teacher like you 60 years ago, as I am self taught NO ONE did embroidery when I did it. THANK YOU AGAIN.

Thankyou for this. I love colonial knots over french knots , I don't know why, they are just a bit more substantial of a knot and when I do french knots a so often pull them thru or if I wrap more than once they try to pop up like a pastry but I never have trouble with a colonial. I am going to try your method of how to hold the needle and maybe I'll fall in love with the beloved french knots!

I think you could go right to left on the Turkish rug stitch, but you'd have to reverse the process and start on the right and come up on the left for each row. Or maybe that would be the opposite of a Turkish rug stitch.

    www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07L3SDD5N/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They're brilliant! Really grippy, and if they lose their grip a quick rinse under the tap and they're back to full strength again. They're quite big, and can easily be cut into strips to use with needles. So useful in all sorts of ways, but I did buy them for sewing with.
