Tom: there are other uses for the Home Lock function besides just a return to home. One is doing "dronies" (drone selfies) where you can aim the drone at yourself and fly it away from you, and usually upwards too while lowering the camera angle to keep it on yourself and show your surroundings. Another is to orbit yourself, since moving the stick left or right moves the drone in a circle around you while in the home lock mode. Of course you can use the automated orbit mode, but if you want more manual control Home Lock can be used.
You are the best Tom. I'm relatively new at my Phantom 3 pro, has flown a few hours and i am happy for all the advice, for a safer flight. Everything you show I note to practice it later. Best regards. :-)

I have read in some places that once Home Lock is set that if you move the right stick left or right it will cause the drone to flight in a fixed radius around your home point. I am not seeing this. What is your experience with moving the right stick left or right when Home Lock is set?

Hello Tom. Would like to ask you two things. One concerning the calibration and the second corncerning "update". According DJI you should calibrate the machine each time before going to fly. But according to some of our group on Facebook (DJI Phantom Scandinavia) it is not necessary at all? I bought my Phantom in the month of August and the updated the Phantom (P3pro) directly. Since then I have not updated it since I've read in the group that some have received probllems after the latest update? My Phantom works great without the latest updates, and makes me hesitant to update if it will give me some problems? Whats your opinion? And thanks so much for all your advice here on UA-cam. Hey Tom, I am having all kinds of problem seeing live video feed on my Phantom 2 Vision plus smartphone app. This started about a month after I purchased the Phantom this spring. I have tried everything DJI told me to do, such as rebinding, upgrading firmware (about 4 times), etc. I know the camera works as it is taking video and pix on my sd card. I just can't see what I am filming. I have a feeling it is the wifi module inside the craft. That is what DJI is telling most people. Do you have any suggestions? I just get a black screen. Is this something covered under warranty since many are having the same issue? Is there another suggestion? I do have another vision plus that crashed but I use for parts. Is it possible to take the wifi module out of the crashed on an install on this one? I now have a P3 and really enjoy your tutorials.

Hello from Greece ! Your videos are very helpful indeed ! My opinion is that HOMELOCK mode, is almost useless !! Let me explain my self...If the bird is far and you have FPV connection ok,then you can watch the little triangle arrow to orient the nose of the bird easily ,no need for 2-3 steps of menus for enabling HOMELOCK...BUT if your fpv connection is Lost or the app is crashed or the phone shutdown somehow (it happened tom due to overheating !) then you have no access for enabling HOMELOCK, your only option is RTH...i think that DJI should give us access to HOMELOCK directly through the RC ,somehow !!

The Phantom 4 has the P mode (Position), S mode (Sport) and A mode (Attitude). The Phantom 3 had P, A, and F (Function mode). It looks like the Phantom 4 combined the function mode and the position mode into the P mode on its controller. So you should use P. A mode (attitude) is for complete manual control when there is no GPS signal. The drone drifts around in that mode, and there are no intelligent flight functions available. The S mode on the P4 is for Sport mode, where the controls are more sensitive and the drone will move faster.
hwy love your videos I just bought an i pad mini 2 with wifi only, does this inhibit new flight modes reading forums it looks as if I cannot use folow me mode. I then say a little argument where people mentioned that the saftey guidelines to turn off all wifi on devices, but I have the P3 standard that can only be connected via wifi and the dji go app. i am getting a bit confused by forums and wanted to know if you could clarify, further more I saw people suing the Garmin glo to connect to the i pad via blue tooth and thus enable follow me mode? does this make sense

Why doesn't course and home lock not show on IOC like it did in NAZA? If not this, then what is IOC, and how do you open it (since it is grated out)?

you say phantom 3 and 4 yet the 4 has a P, S and A setting but no F mode! So to activate this on a 4 what selection do you use?

Hey Tom, Phantom 4 remote does not have a "f" on the flight mode switch. Will the A position pull up the home lock feature?
