This is my happy video. Whenever I'm feeling down I always turn to this video to lift my spirits. It's such a breath of fresh air to see people who are genuinely happy and enjoying life.
I've got my house wired to hear audio from computer all over the house. When I heard this the first time I thought it was a digital recording from the '20s. This is one of the best tunes ever to me. My happy song too.
Now I can say it's been one of the most important videos in my life! In early 2017 I was in a really dark place in my life, and was just about to go to New Orleans from Europe for a work trip. Out of curiosity I checked out on yt what's going on in New Orleans and this video pop up. I fell in love immediately with the music, dance and the joy. I didn't know what it was, but I knew I need to start doing it :D. I spent most of my trip in music clubs and on the streets of New Orleans. When I returned to Europe I digged a bit more, starting doing Lindy Hop and Jazz dancing, met my now girlfriend at the dancefloor and improved my mental life immensely. And it all started here! Thank you
Sarah Peterson and Smoking Time Jazz Club's powerhouse rendition of " Charleston" is straight out of the roaring 20's! The electrifying dancers of the "Charleston" , are Chance Bushman and the awesome Laura Manning. Chance has studied the structure of the music to more accurately coordinate the dancing with the music and it really shows in a song like James P. Johnson's 1923 " Charleston", and Laura Manning has been a professional choreographer , dancer and dance teacher, herself. Together, they're magic!. Thanks, Brad , for capturing this.
Jean Paul Alfaro The song is "Charleston ", by James P. Johnson, who wrote it in 1923. Maybe you thought I was referring to the dance in my comment. The dance is the " The Charleston". I'm sorry to take so long to answer you, but I must have missed the reply notice.
I have photos of my young grandparents all dappered up for a night on the town dancing the Charleston. I have heard tales that they could really "cut a rug". Now I understand how much fun they had. Thank you uploader.
Came upon them randomly n the French Quarter a couple of weeks ago -- if i did not have a 16 year old pulling at me to move on I would have sat on the curb and listened to them for an hour! Great vibe, great musicianship, great dancing, great fun. I picked their CD and it is really good too.
This is, what I like so much : Wnderful, happy music, fantastic played from young muscians, who loves such music to play. Thank You so much to all musicians here....
what a sick bunch of musicians accompanied with sarahs beutiful and distinct voice and those two fantastic dancers ..........does it or could it get any better ? well done you guys you are all absolutely awsome and I wish you all the success you so richly deserve .......from your biggest english fan here in manchester..
I was unsure about the word "sick" I think you liked the musicians , glad you liked the video............................New Orleans is a great place to visit I hope to visit England next spring
Bristol is the place to go. Like New Orleans, it is multicultural with everyone adding something in from themselves to create the atmosphere of the city. It has a great history (being a port) and the mix of modern and old architecture with trees and parks sprinkled in to fill the gaps makes it a unique city I love to bits. And then you have the legendary stencil art by Banksy scattered around. If you visit England, you must visit Bristol.
I can just picture the dancing gal in a flapper dress (she's got the correct hair style for it too) and the fellow in black tie, jiving to this great tune in a period nightclub!
The two dancers were in great shape, able to perform the difficult moves of the Charleston. The onlookers looked like they didn’t have enough energy to take a dump.
Great dancing pair to the happy music. It reminds to enjoy life as much as possible--with music of course! Those with depression or low esteem should learn music or dance to it.
Charleston! Charleston! Made in south of Carolina! Some dance, some prance I'll say there's nothing finer than the Charleston, Charleston, gee how you can shuffle; Every step you do, leads to something new. Man I'm telling you, it's a lapazoo! Buck dance, wing dance will be a back number; But the Charleston, the new Charleston, That dance is surely a comer. Sometime, you'll dance it one time, That dance called Charleston, Made in South Caroline!
I lived in New Orleans in the...And it was just like this video, with everyone singing and dancing all the time! Seriously. At work, at home, at parties, on the street, it was like living in a musical!! Only, I can't sing. And I can only dance when I'm really drunk. So, like a musical, but with vomiting.
Thank you for keeping this American Music alive & doing it well also! If I'm not mistaken the "Charleston" was composed by legendary stride pianist James P. Johnson, who also composed "Carolina Shout."
And here in Sweden ,all Jazz -dancers travells to HERRÄNG. a very small place as far as you can come,up in "Roslagen",50 miles North of Norrtälje,do dance like this,& they come from all over the world, how cool is that ?! :-) It´s a dance Camp for 2 Weeks, starting any day now.
Wow.. Looking forward to spending some time with this Dance Group... While I make my time down to Central America... Will have to spend a few days in New Orleans...

was no one else struck by the incredible juxtaposition of old and new between the charleston dance and the segway. I don't know why but it was really wierd to me!

No because this video is racist or sexist or not inclusive or some other word.
@Daniel Rodriguez
I don’t think we should even use those terms in a joking way because they don’t deserve to be given attention to
