That was not the ending theme to Gumby. No, that was the ending theme to my childhood. The innocent wonderment that came from watching, nay experiencing each golden show that drew you in to another world just for a bit, quite honestly making you feel like "Wow, I can do anything I want to!" Imprinting that little bit of magic into each and every kid's life. Ah, the golden age of shows for the young, it was a marvelous thing, and just hearing this tune displaces me back to that time.

This song really brings back some odd emotions for me. I remember this being in syndication on Nickelodeon back in 2000 and watching it a lot when I was home sick or off from school. I was 12 at the time and my grandfather had died in April of that year. While at his viewing, I remember standing in the funeral parlor alone by myself and this song kept going through my head. Not sure why that was going through my head at that particular moment, but it always makes me think back on that day and my grandfathers passing. The song is strangely moving to me emotionally which is hard to explain. Thanks for the upload!

I completely understand. I saw it in late 80s early 90s and the Gumby show was the last kids show in the afternoons, and I don't know if it was because my parents had just divorced or what, but everyday it felt like a goodbye, it's the moment I would turn off the TV and felt that exact sadness you can't explain.

@@Youfan420 No, we never watched it together. He had passed away of cancer and I felt both very confused and sad at the time. I didn’t know how to process through my feelings and my family was so consumed by grief themselves, I never got the chance to process through my own grief with them. I hold no resentment towards them at all, I understand it was tough on all of us. I think during that moment at his funeral, this song just popped into my head and helped me to forget about all the sadness and grief surrounding my grandfathers death. I think the song was a means for me to escape and for a while, not have think about how he was gone. I guess that’s why this song is so strongly tied to my memory of that day.

I think the reason this sounds so nostalgic to a lot of people is that, on top of it being rather somber, it also kind of sounds like its using a SNES sound chip? So it kind of has a double nostalgia feel to it.

awwww yeaaaa, crazdayz!! THANK YOU....THANK YOU for posting this!! WOW!! The 1988 version of the closing credits....I was 12 years strong at the time. And you know what's interesting? I was not the biggest Gumby fan, but I LOVED this closing theme. 1988 was 4 years after I started collecting soundtracks to movies or television shows. So, I was really big on composers at that time. Not much has changed. But man oh man, I never thought THIS would be on youtube. But then again, what can you NOT find on youtube, right? There's a lot of discomforting things you find online. But THIS reminds me of how fortunate we all are to have these internet pleasures to share or re-live. I've read many of the comments below. And I'll have to agree, the song gets me emotional as well....mainly because it reminds me of such good times!!
Well.....good times can come back....they can definitely repeat. There are some great parts of our human history that cycle back in new forms. And I think as an artist myself, I'm going to try to create stuff that has this effect. Not necessarily to do remakes, but to just recreate the same joyful feelings. Simply because it puts smiles on people's faces from age 4 all the way up to their adulthood. Cheers to everyone for sharing good memories!
    thanks again!!

Hey, thanks for putting this up. For probably three years now, whenever I've run into a UA-cam video from the 1988 series, I've always requested the person to put these credits up because I always loved this melancholy bit of music, but none of them ever responded. But now...well, the mighty UA-cam unearths yet another obscurity.
I was a weird little kid. For some reason I used to imagine the "Frances" books by Lillian Hoban were a TV series, and in my mind, I used this as its ending theme.

They didn't credit any of the voice actors in this for some odd reason. In the 80s episodes, Dallas McKennon voiced Gumby, Professor Kapp, Denali and various others (and he also served as the vocal coach.) Art Clokey voiced Pokey, Prickle, Gumbo and others. Gloria Clokey was Goo, Janet McDuff was Mrs. Gumba, and Holly Harman was Minga.

The first half is Pokey on the Clarinet, Rodgy the bird on Tuba, and joined by Prickle on Trumpet; in the second half, Henry plays the violin as Goo plays the syntheciser. I would like to see that animated.

Back in the early 90's, i watched it on Nickelodeon,
along with 'Flipper' and 'Looney Tunes.'
The last time i saw this on Cartoon Network US, it was early 2002.
It usually comes on at half past 4 A.M.,
between '2 Stupid Dogs' and 'Acme Hour.'

This song only meant Gumby was finished. I used to hate that and it would make me sad.

Every time I hear this theme, I can't help myself to always link this theme to either a World Map or Castle Theme of a RPG.

for some reason, this used to make me cry when I was a little girl. Now I'm twenty and saw it for the first time in YEARS, and I got a little choked up again. Hello childhood. I wondered where you went

I only faintly remember parts of this song from when I was really young and staying up too late watching cartoons. Gumby would only come on once in a while and it was the strangest show to me.

I've never seen so many emotions attached to an end credits before. Very neat.

This stop-motion cartoon has the same color background end credits as Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas (1966).

It's like sad & happy at the same time. It's always made me fill weird. But I love the tune. I always wondered if it was ment for something else, like the opening credits, they chose something else, but didn't want to let the song go to waste
