Came here on James Hoffman's recommendation and I absolutely love your subtle dry humor and in general the video flow and technical presentation. Definitely won a sub from me
This is a remarkable review from front to back, and there are many elements that stand out but the editing in the intro was top-tier. Truly phenomenal stuff. Using the grinder noises to mix a beat was inspired and the rest of the video carries that fun energy despite the video's more muted presentation. Really enjoyable.
Hadn’t come across your channel until Hoffman shared the link. Great video! I backed the 064s and each video I watch seems to make me more excited. Definitely subbing
This was superb. The jokes didn't get in the way but landed and kept things light. You were very thorough on the nerdy details. The editing was fun. The cinematography was clear, informative to your points, and well lit. Excellent job. You got my sub.
great video. I'm a connoisseur of dad jokes and find myself appreciating both your amusing delivery and mastery of the details that matter. tactile experiences DO matter. the best industrial designers appreciate this very thing. great video and channel! 🎉
Thanks for calling out the pain points with the hopper. It's good to get an honest opinion that everyone else glossed over or left out. You also mentioned RDT, but allegedly you're not supposed to use RDT with this grinder because the philosophy of the knocker thing is to catch most or all of the chaff. If you use RDT, you'll allow some of the chaff to bypass the mechanism that is supposed to catch it. Since you're so obsessed with retention maybe it's worth doing a quick followup video where you RDT or don't and then try to measure actual retention inside the burrset (and from the knocker) in terms of weight or weight over X grinds
CORRECTIONS: 3:31 - The grinder weighs 6.9 kg not 8 kg 5:54 - If you include the 0 and 0.5 settings it is in fact 37 grind settings THINGS WE MISSED: - Visually, the RPM knob hidden away at the back is great, functionally not so much as you can't really see what setting you're on. As research progresses on RPM and people start experimenting with profiling, the positioning of the knob will become more of an annoyance. It could potentially be positioned above the start button and have a little more resistance to prevent accidental changes to the settings. CLARIFICATIONS: - We have confirmed with Timemore that the catch cup is made of an aluminium alloy and houses a magnet at the bottom so it can stick to the magnet on the base of the grinder.
That beat made from samples from the grinder was 🔥 Great review! Thank you! I have a particular affinity towards my commercial ghost tooth/burr grinder.
This is the best review of this grinder I've seen yet! I hadn't considered buying it before now. You're becoming more and more of a force to be reckoned with in the coffee-sphere! That intro was amazing :D
Thank you for once again for an amazing and entertaining video. Fabulous grinder beat box opening! Great humor throughout, and as always lots of product guidance. One of my favorite channels and so glad I'm subscribed!
Wow, your videos are always amazing but this is top tier stuff. Easily my favorite hands-on video on this grinder. The hopper seems to be the only weakness of this and using RDT will probably cause lots of issues with beans being stuck. Can't wait for the 078s coverage.
All right, Aramse, you got me. Thanks for sweating this one out. I bought the 078S on kickstarter. Can’t wait for it to get here. Will probably buy the turbo burrs separately when they offer them
Great presentation, thorough and honest. I have the 64s on order for home espresso based milk drinks and my morning Aeropress, this has made the anticipation even greater, many thanks.
Really great review. I’ve been using my Baratza for a long time. It’s a fantastic grinder, the best for a beginner but it’s time for me to level up. I’ve been looking for a pour over grinder and have been wondering how the turbo burrs compared to the SSP. Thanks for that synopsis. Really great review. Thanks!
Bloody fantastic review. No gimmicks, no bullshit, just straight up excellent and to-the-point content with some good humour thrown in. Subscribed! And hoping you review the 064 next!
I understand you can use the grind knocker as a fines catch for a more consistent grind. One uses the beans dry and let static do it's thing. Add a little extra beans, grind them all, pull the hopper and then knock the fines into another container. Also I thought the stepless models were for espresso, is this not the case?! If it won't 'spro I'm cancelling my pledge. Thanks for the great video!
When the knocker isn't used there is a decent amount of retention in the chute. It's not all fines and chaff. So knocking that out and discarding it feels both wasteful and unnecessary unless you have a particularly troublesome coffee that's producing a ton of fines. Yes both the 064S and 708S are stepless and more espresso focused but can also do decent filter.
Hi @Aramse this was your best review yet by far. I backed this on kickstarter but ordered the 078s cos I’m interested mainly in espresso. Can’t wait for your review of the other grinders in the range. ❤
Great job on the video. I am backing the 078s, so can’t wait until you get your hands on one to test. If you could test pour over vs the 078 that would be great. I mostly do espresso but occasionally make a chemex 😊
Great review, thank you! I’m currently a backer of the 078 on kickstarter and can’t wait to get it. From watching the few reviews out on the 078, I think I made the right call choosing the 78 as my next grinder.
I'm really happy for the recommendation by lance and james, because my alogrythm didn't show your channel, now I'll have some videos to check out! btw. really good humor! ;D
First time visitor of the channel and I'm absolutely in love! Just wanted to say, fantastic review & production job! Really love your pace and delivery.
Absolutley fantastic video. I've enjoyed a few of your videos but the quality and ease of watch for this video made subscribing a no-brainer. Thanks for the great content. For everyone's sake, please keep it up.
ماشاءاللہ. Everything I’ve heard from several seemingly trustworthy sources leads me to believe that this is finally the grinder I’ve been looking to upgrade from my very mediocre at best delonghi ariete pro conical burr hopper grinder, now all i gotta do is save like ~$50/a month for a good while lol. Thanks for this review goodsir. I’m glad i stumbled across your channel. Subbed🙌🏼
Well, everybody said already, the video is great! It was a pleasure to watch and the effort put into the script paid off. If you've tested it, could you compare the Timemore S2C burrs with the default ones in the C2 grinder?
You two's channel is like the DMS of Coffee youtube, fantastic production quality, breadth of topics and reviews, and a great attention to detail. The passion you two have for coffee really shows. Cheers!
Great video, thanks. Yes to the ASMR grinder motor video. The Timemore Sculptor 078 sounds great BTW. Can you also review the 078S when you can please?
Been waiting for a super detailed SCULPTOR 078 review and this one is exactly what I have been yearning for! Any idea if/when we will get a 78S review? Thanks tons Armmse :)
I am in a weird place. I am debating between this 064S and a Eureka Mignon Zero. The Eureka is a bit more expensive (about 60 EUR), but I can get it tomorrow (and with local warranty) . This on the other hand is a Kickstarter with way to many orders IMO, to expect it will ship on time. Also, everyone is comparing it with other 64mm grinders and pointing out its a good bargain, but what about smaller grinders (like the Eureka) . After all, if the difference is only grind speed then the the choice wouldn't be so obvious.
how is the 078 grinder for med-dark roasts? while I read often it is great for light to medium roasts I do also enjoy med to slightly darker roasts too (but not french/italian roast dark)...
Hi, great review (can we give some credit to the intro please?!) Could you maybe tell me the exact capacity of the catch cup? I regularly grind 60g for batch brews and I'm okay with working around the limited hopper size by feeding the beans in, but it would be annoying if the catch cup couldn't hold 60g.
Came here on James Hoffman's recommendation and I absolutely love your subtle dry humor and in general the video flow and technical presentation. Definitely won a sub from me
So dry 😂
But is he Hames Joffman worthy?
That's the _real_ question 🤔
Ditto. This was a great video and also earned a sub from me
Lance Hedrick's also had this as a recommendation and boy was I in for this ride. Instant sub.
So... you dig it?
This is a remarkable review from front to back, and there are many elements that stand out but the editing in the intro was top-tier. Truly phenomenal stuff. Using the grinder noises to mix a beat was inspired and the rest of the video carries that fun energy despite the video's more muted presentation. Really enjoyable.
Glad you enjoyed it!
So glad Hoffman gave you a shout out. The first couple of minutes already blew me away with the creative sound byte! Subbed!

Great video! Also, if you want to unsee the Sculptor as a sewing machine, just google some pictures of massage guns. You’re welcome 😉
Great review, can't wait for my 078S. I think this will be the endgame grinder of 2023 under $500. No one will come close.

If the catch cup were aluminium, could it be magnetic?
Thanks! can you pin this comment so it comes up first?
@@Robinzorz Pinned it thrice, not sure why it isn't sticking. Haha. Thanks for letting us know.

Great Review! The sounds, the closes, the detailed information…
Best Review so far! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks now I can’t unseen the sewing machine anymore, I backed the S so much looking forward to this and great review.
Came here to research Timemore 078 - very pleasant find. Enjoyed your presentation. Great work. Look forward to your review of the 078s version!
Uhhhh hell yes grinder asmr video! (Especially one grinder at a time)
The opening audio was phenomenal.
First exposure to your channel. Excellent review, thank you. I'm in for the 078S on Kickstarter.

Love your dry humor! You explained everything with great precision and detail, excellent job!
Thank you!
Great review! I backed the 078 on Kickstarter myself
That opening B-Roll is just quality!
Watching this sitting in Canada and knowing that it was recorded in my hometown of Mysore, makes this review special for me. 😊

+1 for the musical intro. I haven't even finished the review yet. Thank you for all you do for us!
Great work with this video. Really like the humor.
To add to the sewing machine remark, it reminds me of my beloved red KitchenAid Artisan.
Brother, I love your detailed review and sense of humour….you just gain a new subscriber….can you please get the 078S?
I can't emphasize enough how much I enjoy your in depth UI reviews and they are so accurate and spot on.

This video just confirmed that it was the right decision to pull the trigger on the 78s.
Nice video, great intro and I like your approach. Definitely some J H inspiration here !
Top notch productions. Good Going guys.
Also, Asmr would be awesome haha your sound and production quality are incredible.
Keep up the good work! One of my favorite coffee channels =)
Their hopper is nice looking, but if it had a zig-zag or spiral path for the beans, it would more or less eliminate popcorning.

Would you say the acidity is muted with the sculptor? And is there still decent clarity or flavorn delineation?
Absolutely not. Super vibrant cups and lots of clarity. The flavour separation is just not as fractured as the SSPs.
Sounds great. Thank you for your response.
