I'm old enough to remember when this game came out and the ridicule it received. In 20+ years I've never seen footage of this game past the first set of ring missions and now this guy completes the entire game... Well done my friend, well done.
I remember seeing this as a kid, who was a huge Spiderman fan and had the game, and being incredibly envious of my friend who had it because it looked to me to be a completely open world and my dumb Spiderman game only let you swing from rooftops. Boy am I grateful now.
Originally, this game was supposed to have destructible environments and stuff. The story of why it sucks is interesting: basically, the DC team decided it would be better to give Superman to EA but couldn't break the contract that had already been established, so they did everything else they could to knee-cap the game in order to try to make the devs give up, but the devs persevered and got paid.
I love how quickly the optimism turned to "this game kinda sucks" 4 minutes into the video. Really enjoying all this content man, your determination is incredible

I'm a new subscriber, probably not in your main demographic because of 35, and to anyone in generation z that means I'm 100. I have to say, I like your content and I got hooked watching you try to beat all of these N64 games, I have to say you are funny, and not Gen z funny but actually funny and such a natural when it comes to narrating and playing etc. It's nice to see younger kids respecting and appreciating other generations of consoles. I can tell that you're not super comfortable in front of the camera all of the time so I'm sure you hate public speaking but you do a great job. I hope your page blows up. this is awesome because instead of showing off a collection you're actually playing all of the games; surely most collectors have never finished some of the more obscure and mediocre titles, but you , man, you can give your honest thoughts on all of these games; that's really impressive and a good resource for people reminiscing on a specific game from their childhood
My favorite part of this is that Darkseid... the god-like evil emperor of the universe and one of the few villians that even at full power gives superman a run for his money, just give him to the police. No big deal.
Darkseid is basically the Thanos of DC so seeing him thrown around and carried to the police by Superman is the equivalent to seeing Thor pick Thanos up and send him to jail.
I've always heard this game was bad but no one has ever explained to me in detail WHY the gameplay was bad. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this playthrough even if you didn't enjoy playing it 😅

I'm sure someone has brought this up, but this game actually *does* have a multiplayer mode, but the option for it only appears if you have more than one controller plugged in.

Love this concept of beating every N64 games. If someone can do it, it's the Beast! Good luck on your journey, I'm sure be following up every episode. Well done with the Superman game wow... I also like the fact that there is a timer for each game, and an overall timer. Ah yeah and the teaser at the end is a nice touch :)
It's funny that the ring levels are called mazes even though you just go through a linear sequence of rings, but the other levels are actually like mazes.
That screen telling you that you have to play on hard to reach the true ending pissed me off so much back in the day. I thought I was being clever by playing on the easiest difficulty to get rid of the rings, but the game sure showed me.
Please keep this series going - I watched about 10 and then started right form the beginning. I wouldn't be surprised if you double/tripled your subs by then end - these are top quality!

This dude really didn't grasp that the story of the game is that Superman and his friends are all trapped in a virtual simulation... I hate to defend the game because it's not really good but a lot of the weird stuff like Superman being hurt by regular bullets, the subway being functional despite a bunch of attackers, and all the strange level design is all due to being in a simulation.
Dude, the simulation angle was taken right in the middle of production when the developers realized the demo they sold to Nintendo was NOT going to be the game they half baked. They had noble plans to make a legit good Superman game, but they let their scope drag them beyond their capabilities instead of focusing the game on what they could develop. Instead, they just halfpasted all together, claimed "a wizard did it" as a plothole patcher, and rolled to sell them based on Superman's brand alone. It was genius, but in a scammy sort of way. That game was the reason why Nintendo severely increased the strictness of their supervision of any future developers who wanted to work with them.
I remember my neighbor coming over excited when I was around 10 or so. He was so excited about the new game that his mom had bought him and asked if I wanted to come over and play. The game was "Superman"... We never beat the first level...
The show is much better, I'm sure you triggered every fan when you said Brainiac was Lex Luthor. iirc Parasite was either redesigned with more human elements to be relatable to the audience which got praise, or it was like Harley Quinn and he was created specifically for this cartoon and became a Superman staple. Anyways its actually a great binge to go through the DCAU in chronological order; highly recommend doing so. It's well written for a kids show and goes from Batman and Superman to the whole Justice League to the Batman of Tomorrow: Batman Beyond.
