When I read 1984 in school (around 1992) I thought the book was ridiculously cynical. 30 years later as I watch all this I am horrified.
I read it in the '70s and thought it was a bit over the top, especially the 10 minutes of hate. But when I saw the first Trump rallies, it made me rethink the whole book.
I read it in school in 1974 totally blown away and now it feels like pre history guide.

The clip was unclear to me. I suspect the intent of the quote was to suggest that ‘Woke Teachers and Schools’ are commies and Fascists. That Mom for Liberty might not be cheering for Hitler, but rather believes she is challenging a Hitler like school system.
If I’m a Mom for Liberty I may see this clip as part of a liberal media disinformation campaign…
They used Hitlers words to show how how vulnerable children are to being corrupted and manipulated by the wrong people. They never endorsed him. Stop slandering

I watched a video of a school board meeting where a parent wanted to hold a moment of silence for the Holocaust victims and a couple Moms for Liberty started fake coughing, it was so disgusting. Also, that woman that defended the Hitler quote and people cheering was just as disgusting.

I've seen Moms for liberty before. I grew up in the 80s and remember the Senate hearings that had John Denver, Dee Snider AND Frank Zappa testify before them concerning censorship in music. Why? Because Committee chair Al Gore's wife Tipper had founded and was leading the PMRC. They wanted to eradicate bad language from music. Their actions made Two Live Crew and Luke Skywalker into 1st amendment heroes.
YOU ARE A LIAR!!! Tipper Gore wanted a rating system for music just like ratings for movies. She DID NOT want to eradicate bad language in music. She wanted to give parents a WARNING SYSTEM about adult language in music lyrics. If you think mom's for liberty and what Tipper Gore did then YOU have MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH COMPREHENSION.

I must admit, I am amused by the name "Mom's for Liberty." Exactly what one would expect by a group attempting to control how other people's children can think and what they can read. Liberty, right? Normally, as we mature, we question ourselves. That is how we grow. Maybe these moms would benefit from a bit of introspection as to what they are terrified of and why they need to lie, threaten and be disingenuous to promote their agenda if it is so supposedly good?

First thing, what is critical race theory? I taught for 33 years elementary through high school, history and other subjects and I’ve never heard of it before. if it is taught in law school, then only people who have a lot degree or have tended law school would know anything about it. and it’s definitely not part of my states curriculum.

It is just the latest stage of their ongoing "take over" or "make over" of publicly funded education in America. It started with targeted budget cuts under Reagan. Then on to cutting fields of study they did not think the "average student" needed, like arts and music classes. Under George W Bush they really were looking to cut out "social studies" and history content they did not like or agree with. Now it is onto using "vouchers" to depopulate and further defund public schools. Where you been all this time?

I’m reading an excellent book, “Caste: the Origins of our Discontent” by Isabel Wilkerson. She shows, through thorough research, that the real reason whites tend to vote Republican, and seem to vote “against their best interests”, is because, rather than the current economic issues, it’s the race issue, or caste, that is of utmost importance to the majority of white voters. The GOP knows this, and plays directly to this. Moms for Liberty is a perfect example. The book bans, voter suppression, trans hate, abortion bans, all of this is just a shield for what’s really at the heart of their agenda. They need to stay at the top of the caste ladder, and will do anything, and elect anyone, who helps them do that.

Teachers are quitting. They can’t find qualified replacements. The same is happening with University Professors. There is a massive exodus from Florida. Construction workers gone. Also a number of doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers have left Florida because of how poorly DeSantis handled the COVID pandemic. DeSanits also had the Florida State Republican Controlled Assembly & Senate vote on a bill revoking Disney's tax exemptions. As a result, homeowners are now paying double in property taxes and are also forced to pay for housing insurance even though insurance companies in Florida will only pay out $2,000 to $3,000 when your home has over $50,000 in damages as a result of flooding due to hurricanes and tropical storms.

The question is liberty for whom. On books they covet the bible, it's much worse graphicly than all of the books they want banned.
"Moms for (very small values of) Liberty" isn't as catchy.
A challenge, using the book banners own criteria, has been successful so far in having the Bible removed from schools in Utah.
They're an example of a group putting a word in their title they have no understanding of, nor do they prescribe to the meaning of the word they use.
We can't afford to minimalize or trivialize these ppl in any way. Some of them are there for some kind of ideology/cult, some of them have their own agenda; either way, they're a scary/dangerous group of ppl, they have donors, they use their own motherhood/parenthood & children as a pretext for their actions. They bear watching.

Great information! As a teacher I want my students to have appropriate content to read. It's a good idea to know what your child is reading. Interesting that they are targeting schools and not publishers.
MY kids had access to my library and any other library they showed the slightest interest in. Everywhere we went that had a girt shop - we hit the book section first!
When they tell you what something is, it is generally a lie. When you are told what is right, it is usually wrong. Start doing your own fact checking on these topics, you might be surprised to what you find.
That's what this video was about. Moms for liberty is a lie, and everything they say is false. Thanks for pointing that out for the remedial kids.

To be fair, you could sort of figure out that the group is far right by the name. Democrats(or other) don't overused terms like "freedom" and "liberty" like the right does
As someone who considers themselves conservative, Moms For Liberty activities are not conservative because there is nothing conservative about censorship
As a German I feel embarrassed for the Hitler-quote-woman. As a human being who was born 50 years after the Second World War I can only recommend to learn from history. As a proud German I can tell that Germany learned a lot from history and developed into a country which has nothing to do with the facism from the 1940s even better Germany nowadays is one of the most developed democracies worldwide- she should visit us.
Germany is one of the very few countries in the world that has fearlessly faced it's past and changed.
