I was looking for a mat which suits my height(6ft2) and has good grip for sweaty intensive yoga sessions. I was searching both online and asking around. Finally, after extensive search found your review for Indian Mats that too eco-friendly, I really appreciate the effort. Also happy to know that there are good Indian made mats that are worth trying rather than going after over hyped foreign Brands of which i found most reviews online.
Kosha or Juru would be my choice for sweaty and intense practice Anuroop. Big Mat is great for tall people like us. And It’s so nice to see that our efforts are helping you out :)

I checked out Kosha Yoga Mats currently the versions on their websites are Pure (185cm), Microfibre(183cm) and Big Mat(193cm)
Anuroop Kumar they launched their Pure Mat recently this year. We’ve haven’t tried it out yet but we’ve heard good reviews about it.

I have underwent acl and meniscus surgery (knee surgery) so i need a mat which provides good cushioning.. like 6 mm at least.. can you please recommend as I couldn’t find that in the video..

Tanvir I would suggest a mat with good cushioning. Sadly none of the ecofriendly mats provide that cushioning. What I can suggest is get a good rubber mat and another cotton mat. You can place the cotton on top of it when you practice. I have had a knee suregery myself so i know you definitely need the cushioning. I'd suggest get this mat: amzn.to/3ffkhja . It is decently priced and will help with the cushioning you need. It isn't eco-friendly but it doesn't wear off and will last you for a long time. I've used this myself because I also needed more cushioning like you.Hope this helped. Let me know if you have any more questions

Hi Khushpinder. Thank you for such informative and honest reviews. I was looking for an eco-friendly mat for sometime now. I ended up ordering the Juru Yoga mat but found it didn't work for me because I do a lot of core work and that needs a lot of cushion. Which one do you recommend for that ? I am currently using a 15 mm NBR foam for my core workouts at home. But, I am not sure if it's safe. I have lately found out their production is chemical laden and they are not eco-friendly in any way.
I am now also looking to buy the Yogasana mat as I do my Yoga sessions mostly in the park and I think it's the best fit according to what you have explained. I have currently been using a beach towel and it keeps slipping. So, I was thinking to buy a mat specifically for garden Yoga sessions. What do you say ? I would love and appreciate any suggestions :)
Thank You Garvit. Glad you found this useful. One major down side of eco-friendly mats is that their cushioning is not so great. Cork mats are good for practices like ashtanga or standing balancing practices, where you are mostly only on your hands and feet. PVC , Foam , EVA, etc are all chemical based. TPE is a little better but it is still plastic and not so good for environment and even for us. For the park, yogasana is the best. You can wash it as many times as you want( the best thing about these mats) .I would suggest go for yogasana mat and when your are indoors use the mat over your existing NBR Foam. That way it is safe for your body and you can reuse the existing mat(which has decent cushioning). You can also get a grip it pad from them to use indoors. You can check it out:

But, I would have to add to your suggestion of using the Yogasana mat over the NBR Foam. Since, it’s chemically laden, it is anyway harming me and the environment by just being there in close proximity. Plus, even if I use the new mat over it, wouldn’t it still be like leaching chemicals to the new mat above ? Honestly, I really want to ditch this mat. Due to personal safety reasons and also caring for the environment. Of I donate this mat to someone who is looking to buy this, it’s better than him/her buying a new one. Right ? But then, you say the eco-friendly mats does not offer much cushioning. . Yogasana mat for yoga practice at the park. Sorted. Thanks for that :). But, I am left confused about how to go about my core workouts. I would appreciate any more insights. Thank you for taking out your valuable time to reply. P.S. If you are using a yoga mat over the existing Foam mat it is okie for your health. If you dispose the mat before it's life, that causes extra burden on earth too. If you want to give away to someone who needs that will be okay I suppose. But you will have a cushioning issue with the eco-friendly mats anyways , so might as well use the existing one for cushioning. I usually prefer not to throw even the plastic mats out if they are still usable. They are not recyclable so the best you can do is use them till they can be ( use a cotton/eco friendly material over it). For your core workouts I suggest use it as cushioning, otherwise there really aren't good eco-friendly options available. Other option is to go for a TPE mat (they are not eco-friendly , but not as bad as the PVC Foam mats) . As for the discount if you could wait for 3 days. I may have something for you :) Would be happy to answer more questions if you have any.

I need pretty decent cushioning at least 4mm and above....I use it for vinyasa flow and hand balancing and sometimes yin yoga....Budget is 3 to 4k ....Plz suggest me one
Is there any options other than Koshayoga?....Koshayoga mats are costly and I doubt it's durability.
I liked juru but 3mm is kinda too low.
Juru Mat is really good for vinyasa flows.. for practices like ashtanga. The cushioning is 3mm though. Not high on the cushioning front. If your use is very rigorous it will last you about 4-5 years or so. Juru also recycles their products. If you return their mats for recycling they give you a discount on your next one too.
@@Travelwiththennarasu Kosha can be a bit costly. I understand .My choice would be Juru. Juru mat is really amazing. If you have an existing rubber mat , you can place it underneath the Juru Mat for more cushioning. Cushioning is usually on the lower side when it comes to eco-friendly mats.

What about the Circular Yoga Mats.? Would prefer 8 × 4 with thickness between 3 - 6 mm. I am into Advanced Intensive Practice.
I haven't personally used these circular mats so I can't comment on them for certain. I have seen them though and found them intriguing . I think all the things that apply to a normal cotton mat would apply to those as well. 3- 6mm thickness in cotton mats would be okayish for a normal person without any issues in my opinion.

@@bidishadutta1575 I would suggest two options . Juru Cork Yoga Mat - 100% eco-friendly or the Kosha Yoga Eco PU - It's not 100% eco-friendly the top layer us Eco- PU . It is the same as fake leather . It is a plastic derivative but is far better than the normal PVC , TPE etc. Both mats have excellent Grip. Juru has a little lesser cushioning in comparison to kosha though. ( If you wanna go for juru we can help you get some discount too. Let us know.) Hope this helped. A local Cotton Dari would also be good. If you want a cotton dari that does not skid indoors you can go for juru or yogaland mats too.

How is Isha Yoga's cotton rug yoga mat?
Sohan I haven't personally used the Rug Yoga Mat but from all the information that I gathered: It's quite similar to the initial cotton mats mentioned here for an intermediate practice. Some of their cotton mat's are rubberized and some are not. (They do look a bit thin though and their thickness isn't mentioned even on their website) Their Cotton Handloom Yoga Mat is quite similar to the Nischala Mat. If you happen to get the mat do let us know how is the thickness of the mat. Hope this helped you.

Isha Foundation and Art of Living International Centre have been manufacturing Yoga Markets to suit their requirements. How are they?
I haven't used them personally but I've heard about a lot of yoga mats being launched from both and I've heard they are good. Most are eco friendly and some are TPE as far as I know. So you can check and go for the eco friendly ones that meet your needs.

Ankita unfortunately eco friendly mats do not offer too much cushioning. 6mm to koi hi hoga. And that also will not feel like a rubber 6mm. This is the only one that has 6mm mentioned thickness

@@FitNCalm see, this will be first yoga mat in the house :P My only point is he should feel comfortable and excited. He does light yoga for around 45 minutes, including anulom vilom and other breathing exercises too. And the mat should not be season specific.

Yes Nimish. Eco-Friendly mats can be costly. You can try out some local places for cotton dari's or jute daris. Local vendors charge lesser, but you will have to explore with the thickness , grip etc.
