Jimi Hendrix used the climbing series of diminished chords in the humorous blues "My Friend". When a stranger "breathes in my face bourbon and coke possessed words" he plays these chords like a silent movie piano score during a danger scene! Anyway, thanks for showing us that diminished chords can be used in beautifully subtle transitions as well.
This is massively useful stuff. Just found you Chris so a big thank you to you sir. Sub'd. To begin with, I struggled on a previous video but now my mind has opened a bit more. Keep it coming. PLEASE.
@@ImpliedMusic thank you……because of you my playing has been completely transformed in just a few months……..I can flow seamlessly from key to key in ways that constantly surprise me ……..I am very grateful
Thank you Chris. I'm totally enjoying and learning a great deal from your videos. (I imagine I wouldn't be the first person to think of you as the Mr. Rodgers of music theory.) I notice a guitar in the background. Will you use it in some of your lessons? I'd appreciate it. Many thanks. Steve in Santa Cruz.

I'm really glad UA-cam recommend me to your channel. I'm currently looking into Aug and dim chords, so the way you explained these things is great.
Awesome, thank you!
Great explanation of the possibilities of diminished chord movements. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
4:08 Eb Gb A is also part of the F#m6 chord, that is the minor 4th of Db chord... I *LOVE* that resolution!
yes. aside from the baked in spelling confusion these type of 'plural' chord sounds are just great.
Great video, i always felt like diminished passing chords remind me of christmas music

Thanks for the sub!
This is giving me thoughts about chromatic passing chords... 🤔
can you explore how to utilize a dim chord by dropping the flat 7 to a 6th and then transitioning that into maj7 in another key?
Great idea.!

thanks. i can play enough guitar to get along, but it's a second instrument for me. i've done some guitar videos, but but it's once in a blue moon.
