- Sonic the hedgehog marble zones 1,2 and 3 and 2 more of the chaos emeralds. This is the marble zone which is the 2nd zone of the classic sega megadrive game sonic the hedgehog.

Marble Zone is where my anxiety problems started
What was so great about Marble Zone was that it suddenly required the player to concentrate far more on movement, timing and brief puzzle elements. Going from Green Hill, which is all about learning the speed and fluid movement of this new character to suddenly asking them to make accurate jumps and even stand still on small blocks and show patience while the level elements move is absolute genius and a perfect way to prepare the player for Spring Yard, which asks the player to combine the two.
Still the best Sonic, by far, and something all young game designers should study.
As much as this stage is a vast change of strategy, it also discourages a lot of new or trying players from even persisting forward in this game. The same can be said for the Aquatic Ruins in Sonic 2.
@@50percentGrey i fucking hated this game so much as a kid, and to this day i still hate arcade life-based systems in games, its toxic asf and the games intend on killing you in unfair and otherwise unpredictable ways to make you cough up the arcade tokens
Sonic and knuckles is the best, if you count 3 and 4 as one game than sonic 3 was at its zenith
Love this zone's OST
This could've formerly been Bowser's castle.
It is now my headcannon that sonic takes place in the Mario universe, but so far in the future that it is ancient history.
Why would it be Bowsers castle if Mario's face is on the little temples

I beat sonic 1 all zones.
I loved this game as a kid and now my kids love this game, it stands the test of time proving that you don't have to have the latest graphics cards and gaming pcs or buy every game that is instantly released to have a great time

I don’t think Marble Zone is the best example of this game at it’s best

Except that this game is unpolished in gameplay as you can see with marble zone, Sonic 3 of the same period of time is much better
@@gamermapper This is more of a first attempt at the style of gameplay. Sonic 2 and Sonic CD fixed the issues by not including stuff from the previous game as much, or making the game more focused on speed, and exploration. Sonic 3&K basically combined platforming, speed, and exploration into one finalized experience. It's too bad it was the last classic game until years later.

I thought this zone was hard as hell and so boring until I met Labryinth Zone....
Labyrinth zone is hard but it isn't boring. Marble zone, however, is slow as hell with the most boring tune you can imagine, especially since it contrasts completely with Green Hill. Marble zone isn't even hard, it's just needlessly long.

A lot of people don't know this, but the ruins in the background at the beginning are reference to Altered Beast's first level.

Marble Zone: I’m the most boring and hard Sonic 1 Zone! Labyrinth Zone: Hold my Salt Water
I just made it past marble zone last year. It took me practically a decade just to get through it and it was worth it.
Cried watchin this damn been so long
I never owned a Genesis. My apt. neighbor did. I use to try to go as fast as possible on every stage. That's what made the game fun to me. Just zipping past all the obstacles.

Well this level brings back childhood memories. Though I certainly played it a lotmore recent than that thanks to ps2 PS3 and GBA releasing this game on trilogy re-releases or remakes whre they added the stop-spin ability for Sonic.
Yeah i think i recorded this using the sega mega drive collection. But i also played this a lot on my megadrive which i picked up second hand when i was younger. No matter what there are always new generations that get to enjoy this game which is awesome.

At 9:35 if you can jump on the second spike chains and then jump into the wall and there is an extra life there
Also at 1:25 and 4:33 you can jump into the walls on the left! ✌🏻

Total cheater- new to Sonic, can't get past act 1 of Marble, had to find a walk-thru. Don't laugh, but I lost twice trying to get thru act 1 of Green Hill! 🤣🤣🤣 I love games, I just suck at them.
Nothing wrong with looking up a walkthrough. It's awesome that new people are going back to play the old games.

Nah it's ok the way how I beated this level was actually your video gameplay it give me strength and confidence to win the level
Here's a tip to beat the caterpillar robots: you spin dash them or jump and head shot on them

This is more of an tradtional platforming level. Sonic still moves fast. You can still roll down hills and smash threw rocks at certain parts. And when you get really good you can speed over some jumping parts as this guy is doing.
I'd much rather actual platforming that just holding right/up or boost. Yes, eVeN iN a SoNiC gAmE.
Yeah it's not my favourite level, but it's good to shake things up. It would be boring if every level was the same.

Yeah i would say this should have been later in the game. Spring yard Zone and starlight Zone are much easier than this and they are later in the game.
@@ClassicGamerX11 This was originally the 3rd level, but Sega realised that Labyrinth Zone was too difficult for the 2nd level, and so they moved it to 4th place.

In 0:37 How do you jump up to that second part? It looks like There's another level or something up there but I can't see the jump up there

I have never been able to get up there myself.

@@ClassicGamerX11 I have discovered that the only way to do it is to make a huge jump off of that hill just on the other side of the flaming platforms, bounce up real high off the shield monitor, and bound to the right-- there's really nothing up there, but you can take a nice breather for a moment or so before going back down (once you go back down, you can't get up there again [unless you're playing the Knuckles or Tails mods]).
My record on sonic is 1:36:21 AND THIS MM IT SUCKED also hes pretty good at sonic also when i relized debug mode was available my sonic life changed

If you mean the spin dash where you hold down and than charge up a spin.
That was only introduced in Sonic 2
