See this is why bands should do more videos like these, this is an awesome behind the scenes look. I love the fact you and Jensen are using their own sound on each side 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
A boosted Peavey Crunch sound *really* is just magical The 5150 Red Channel sound gets all the glory, and rightfully so - but there’s just a CHONK to the Peavey Crunch sound that really is its own unique thing! Hell, the 5150’s got it too, just on the blue channel,
James Brown was asked, of all the amps he has designed, if he has a favorite...he said "without a doubt, the Triple XXX". It was always a fave if mine so I love seeing it stand proud amongst all these $3-4k amps!
Was looking forward to this Ola. Thanks for showing us the behind the scenes of the upcoming banger for The Haunted. Can't wait to get my hands on the new album.
Thanks for the inside video dude. Have no idea what it sounded like in the studio and judging tone via a cell phone recording is admittedly silly, but that Peavey XXX immediately stood out over the others. Surprised I’m saying that but it’s true.
Absolutely sick studio collection. I don’t think I’d ever leave that room. There isn’t a bad choice! Agreed, the SLO is insane. For the choices made I’d blend the Savage and XXX. Interested to see what you guys come up with!
The sound wave from the amp makes me reborn. That’s why a heavy metal concert has no parallel. When the distorted guitar sound and the drum sound hits you in the chest…you just get crazy! 🤘
Thank you, that was incredibly cool to get to listen to all those amps like that. The studio looks amazing, I would like to move in & live in it. glasses-purple-yellow-diamond! (:
I love this kind of video and I love this old schoold approach for this album with one sound for one guitarist, Triple X is a insane amp, can you release more studio video like this Ola pls? 🙏
I genuinely think the best tone was the Krank. Something about the way it's engineered just sounds nastier than all the other amps. The fact that all the other amps sound like smooth, modern metal but the Krank sounds like that good ol' Dimebag attitude and is designed specifically for attitude makes it hit different. If you do not choose the Krank, my humble input would be the Triple X as an alternative.
I don't have a krank head yet, but I am one of those few people that hunted down krank 4x12s the last few years for my band, I've got a revolution 4x12 and a krankenstein 4x12 and they're just monstrous!! I need a krankenstein head I was just hopeful that the prices would calm down a little lol but they're amazing
2C+ is my favorite American amp, but Krank seems like the perfect choice if you ask me! Both a nod to Dimebag as I'd expect from Ola and also a nod to Swedish bands from the 2000s who used Krank amps, plus it just sounds so kickass :) the XXX is also a nice one!
It's crazy to see that Granger amp in that studio!!!!(it's a Marshall clone setting on top of the Marshall heads) That guy builds those amps here in Alabama, USA not far from where I live!!!! Get on his website and check out the cool amps he builds!!!! He builds some cool stuff for a very good price to be hand built. I've played a few of his amps and they are very top notch!!!!
Believe it or not, I actually worked for Curt Granger for about 4 years from about 2010-2014. There is a chance I had my hands in the amp that is in this video. I would love to see inside the chassis and see if my initials are on the PT. For one of those amps to make it all the way from Alabama to Sweden is insane. I never would have imagined that one of my mentor's amps would be right there next to one of my favorite musicians. Super cool. Thanks, Ola!!
Extremely interesting video, particularly for guitarists who record themselves and have a bunch of amps available ;-) ! About different tests you did, it's hard to find the good one because we are not in front of the speakers, the sound changes depending on the video shots and above all, we do not know the "color" you want on this album ;-) ! One certainty: in all cases, it will be a killer !
Would be hilarious if that was someone's Lucky Cable that has been "Soaked in years of beer and ran over by grandad's step-tractor." Sorry, lol. Sounded great, Man!
That's a nice studio! I recorded drums there some years ago and it has a real nice sound. Can't wait to hear new stuff from The Haunted! I'm personally a big fan of the sound on rEVOLVEr.
Plug in all those amps at once. That one pedal looked so much like klon centaur. Those PRS amps are kickass! Do you have some kind of smart tracking camera stand? It shifted the frame so aggressively. Oh my god I love that dog. Goes in my top 5 nicest dog breeds. The ultimate WILL IT CHUG episode.
I think I'm with you, I love the Soldano, but if you don't think it'll work for the project, then it's not the one, unfortunately. Maybe you can split the signal and record the Soldano and another amp head/cab combo so that you still get a taste of that sweet Soldano tone but keep the overall feel The Haunted needs. I don't know why so many people are heaping praise on the XXX; perhaps I'm just biased, because I've never liked that amp for decades. The ENGL sounded great to my ears. The 5150 seems to always be a good choice, historically; so many great albums have that guitar tone. I definitely prefer it to the XXX. If it comes down to the ENGL, the 5150, the Krankenstein or the XXX, I'd go with the ENGL... but I'm just some random Canadian dude who hasn't been in a band for almost twenty years.
I want all of them!!!! I would absolutely love to be in that room jamming. I am so getting a badass tube amp one day. either the mesa boogie or the peaveys.
I would like to see a more in depth video of that Dover amp. It had some kind of high end thing going on that I like. Other than that, all amps sounded great!
In my opinion 5150 all the way bro! its just the most metal thing ever. i,ve been a fan of The haunted since , The Haunted made me do it. I went to their show in Buenos Aires cant remember the year,
Thanks for this insight, Ola! Of course it’s impossible to judge any of these amps/sounds via the room mic (for us listeners). But it's always going to be a mystery to me, what criteria a professional guitarist in general (or in this case you) uses, to select a setup. For example, you're talking about the LowEnd (which is obviously too weak for the chosen Mesa). But it's finally the LowEnd, that often causes the most problems in the mix (-> LowCut). If you listen to the corresponding tracks in solo mode at the end, it's startling how little is left of the originally set sound. Or is the basic setup selection mainly about the feeling of playing during recording? Anyways... Have fun!
It’s also the 8100 that was used by Death as I’m sure you already know. Ola tried demoing the death sound with a vs100 and couldn’t get the sound not realizing he had the wrong model. He has no excuses now lol
Its so cool you can try out a bunch and see what connects for this particular album. Would be awesome to then bring your quad cortex and do a capture of the rig you use for the album so you can recreate it live. What is the camera on, how is it tracking you like that? some fancy gimbal?
Use the valvestate or a Marshall in opposite stereo gtr track. It has a bright tone that complements the dark Engl. This makes stereo effect wider. But two Engl will be punchy aswell.
I’d like to hear that JMP 1 into a recto power amp. Might not work like I’m imagining but I’d still love to hear it for “science” or maybe the jmp into the Soldano world work better than the recto, but I could see a possible unique tone with the JMP into something other than a Marshall power section of course you’d probably have to boost to reach the level of saturation you’d need. I thought the Dover had a nasty snarl in the mid range definitely a cool sound!
See this is why bands should do more videos like these, this is an awesome behind the scenes look. I love the fact you and Jensen are using their own sound on each side 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
What did we learn ....that the cab you choose governs a massive part of your tone shaping!
Krank sounds great, super dry and tight
the majority are Saldano based by you are right, he needs to find the right cab then go from there
Big time mate. I have had the privilege of using a switch box to hear my Marshall TSL100 is 4 different cabs and my mind was blown away

That XXX sounds awesome!
🎸🤘🔥
The triple XXX is the poor man's rectifier and just sounds so good. The matching cab they designed unfortunately sounded like dogpoop
My preference would be the Peavey XXX on the crunch channel with a boost! Tight and punchy!!
A boosted Peavey Crunch sound *really* is just magical

Miss my Peavey 3120 and always used the crunch with a KSR Hera boosting it. One of the best tones ever!

The Soldano kills just everything. SICK :)
@@tonehammer7276 As a Marshall user, in this video, 💯 agree. Makes me wanna try an SLO100

Peavey Triple X!!!!!
This amp deserves more love.

The feeling 100% contributes to the end result. Great video thanks Ola.
Always loved the triple X, so crunchy. Played with a guy who had one, sounded amazing.
pink strap is most important part of your sound! support from serbia!
LOVE the "behind the scenes studio recording videos"!
Just re-watched "Making of Koloss" this morning.
I would feel like a kid at x-mas in this room!
That XXX sounded fantastic.
the mk2 into the krank for rhythm and the savage for lead would sound so good. Might not work for this album, but it's worth trying out.

Krank and the XXX seem like good underdog choices \m/ I
That intro song is incredible. 8 bits chiptune + metal, works perfectly !
Would be hilarious if that was someone's Lucky Cable that has been "Soaked in years of beer and ran over by grandad's step-tractor."
Sorry, lol. Sounded great, Man!
XXX or the Savage for the win got dem big ol booming low ends.
That's a nice studio! I recorded drums there some years ago and it has a real nice sound. Can't wait to hear new stuff from The Haunted! I'm personally a big fan of the sound on rEVOLVEr.
I'd say XXX ! But yeah, while tracking and in the mix would definitely play with your final decision.
What a beautiful studio…I had no idea you were in THE HAUNTED?!?! That’s amazing and an incredible✅on your resume! TIGHT TIGHT TIGHT🤘
Only played with them for 12 years :D

The ultimate WILL IT CHUG episode.
Please tell me you will do a "Will It Chug" video with the new Hello Kitty guitar. PLEASE! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
My picks. Savage for the crunch, and triple X for the rhythm and leads. But I think the Krank would suit more your style for the rhythm guitars.
Paradise right here!
On today's episode of Does it Chug? Yes, yes they do.
SICK THIS IS HOW ALBUMS SHOULD BE MADE!! killer brother good luck god bless

the intro track is a Banger.
That's his new single "Game Over" :D
Dig the chip chug
I am so jealous. Talk about a kid in a candy store….I’d spend days working through that mountain of amps. Rock on 🎸.
Gjorde en skiva med Oscar för tio år sedan, anima med bandet Akribi. Han är grym, ni är i goda händer. Lycka till! Mvh Martin 🤘
Must b nice to choose from all those. When I jam with my friend we each play thru a Line 6 spider 3, and they kick ass
What a sick studio!
MORE THE HAUNTED!!! I WANT TO BANG THE LOGO IN HAMBURG!
and instill want the 99 hockey shirt of Jensen! Still waiting for it.
One band that comes to mind is Exodus when they used a different guitar tone on each side for Impact Is Imminent, both are heavy as hell!!
I want all of them!!!! I would absolutely love to be in that room jamming. I am so getting a badass tube amp one day. either the mesa boogie or the peaveys.
Every studio need a pool table ;) .... looks like a room of fun for sure.
Metalzone into power amp of the valvestate!

Nah. A Katana into another Katana!
@@StormtrooperCylon Would unironically sound really cool. Weird tone, probably wouldn’t use it for a lot, but I think it would be cool in a weird way.
Gotta say, the black one sounded beyond killer, might be the best thing I’ve ever herd. Go with that one
Your face with the Soldano, Mike should be proud…lol
I think you will have to ultimately listen to the harmonies that both guitars produce to make your choice.

Just find a Line 6 Spyder!!! Insane tones with that amp!!! 🤘😂🤘
It’s interesting to see you dial in the savage. You use a bit less channel volume to get a slightly drier tone with it than most do.
Thank you for sharing this and so glad you guys are doing this album in the studio. Care to tell us who is producing it?!

was this the dude from Carnal Forge at the console in the end ?? Anyhow, GO WITH THE KRANK
Definitely the framus cobra and marshall silver cab with jensen nighthawk 75, oh wait, ola you wish 😅 .......❤
Can't wait for the new album. It's gonna be so sick 🤘
back to savage!!!! You seem more natural on it. And the 5150 for sure

that krank sounds sickkk

Just can’t beat the EVH stealth!
Savage a close second.
Peavey XXX prices just skyrocketed, the classic hidden gem for 5150-esque tones on a budget.
Chaos AD has two different guitar tones and sounds amazing!
The first Savage and cab you plugged into \m/
BBE Sonic Maximizer or Sonic Stomp in the effect loop of the Peavey XXX/3120 is insane. Also great in the 5150.
You guys should just blend a bunch of amps AIC style , have fun with it 😃Cant wait for the album 🤘
ENGL playing feared brings 2012-2013 era Ola back :)
Awesome😎
Keep on rocking 🤘🔥🎸
The Valvestate would shake things up! ✌🏾
It’s also the 8100 that was used by Death as I’m sure you already know.

I have a full stack cabinet set up from 2004 of oversized Mesa Rectifier cabinets. 🤘😎🤘
id do the soldano man. yes its not quite as tight but soldano always has this specific mid tone that just sticks out so well
Excellent selection👌

SAVAGE !!!! is the best amp of the world !!! and this combination with EVH 5150 will kill 🙂
Big Haunted fan here. I think the Soldano would be killer and not cliche. Given your band has two awesome players, the Soldano sound would blend well.
Savage is all you need
EVH ftw
Grymt att Studio Bohus är back in business👌
I'm not understanding why the Soldano tone wouldn't work.
Hello Ola, My name is Simon. Love the video.

I would love to play through some of those
If youre not sure, just run them all at once, and if only you had speakers in youre coffee with ola cabinet wall ! 😄
I'm soooooooooooooo excited for the new album
Love watching this kind of shit keep it up!
Man would love to hear a looser SLO or dual rec sound on a Haunted album! I know why you don't want it but I almost want you to try it Ola hahahahah
These amps are all monster sounding. Now you choose what sits well in the mix with your colleague on the other side.
Use the valvestate or a Marshall in opposite stereo gtr track. It has a bright tone that complements the dark Engl. This makes stereo effect wider. But two Engl will be punchy aswell.
