I would question the friendship and rethink how much time I spend with that person. She has no reason to lie. She could always say 'we drifted apart' or 'we weren't a good match'. To lie about someone else cheating is really gross. Also you eventually start to question how truthful they are with other things they are telling you.

Friends should call each other out when they're out of line. I would absolutely talk to her again. Then I'd distance myself. She's showing the type of person she is. When people show you who they are, believe them! If she'll stain her exes reputation, what else will she lie about?

Nah she sucks. You dont have to offer people an explanation about why you broke up. She's doing it to make him look bad, for literally no reason. I wouldnt be worried about losing that friend, I'd be worried about the story she's gonna tell everyone else about WHY the friendship ended
