I am very happy to have a foreigner who likes the inverter sound of Japanese railways.
1:05 this is Toshiba GTO-VVVF inverter.
It really does sound very good, and I would love to visit your beautiful country again 😄
Makes sense since the Kawasaki trains used in Singapore were made in Japan.
Indeed! And nice to hear from you again 😁
OMG fastCarsnorules?!!!!
I love your videos?!,,!!!!!!!!!!!!
0:00 Tokyu 9000 is powered by Hitachi GTO-VVVF, which is very popular by Japanese railway fans. Recently Hitachi GTO goes hard to listen.
4:32 Although the 6300 is IGBT-VVVF, it produces a loud and dynamic sound.
I especially like the GTO-VVVF sounds 👍🏻
Wooow good work guys !
You visited many stations of subways and private railways around Kanto area and recorded vary types inverter sounds. I think the sounds are only annoying noise even for daily commuter passengers 😅but I evaluate this video is so worthy study. Kudos to your explore trip !

I'm a Japanese railway geek. I'm glad that you are interested in the sounds of Japanese trains. (Translated from Japanese using Google Translate) Thank you!
Thank you for the in depth review and I'm very happy you enjoyed the video 😁
Awesome video maxson! Brings back a lot of memories living in japan for a couple years. Jiyugaoka was actually my local station when I was little, used to hear these trains pass by all the time 😄. The train at 0:32 seconds is the Tokyu 9000 series, first constructed around the 1980’s. Lucky you caught them, they are getting retired soon!
some of them will transfer to seibu
It's really nice to hear that the video brought back memories for you and I hope you liked our selection of trains 🚃
used to live in Yoga a few years back and I do miss hanging out on the Oimachi line and listening to the 9000 series
I'm a fan of Japanese trains, and I find it interesting that there are many trains in Asian countries such as Singapore that have the same sound as Japanese trains. Thank you for the wonderful video.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! I believe all of the trains in Singapore that sound familiar have their origins in Japan which explains the similarities
These motor sounds are originally from Japan thats why is so similar
Indeed, the consistent sound is really nice
I also love the sound of disconnector. The moment regenerative brake turns off and disconnector works is great.
As a Japanese rail fan, I'm very glad to watch foreign rail fans enjoy Japanese trains!
I'm glad that you enjoyed the video 😁
The Bulgarian capital of Sofia also has a similar sounding engines on the Russian trains of the Sofia Metropolitan Subway when taking off acompanied by the bogies making a loud sound when accelerating
„Русич“ model-type?
Sounds exciting 😄 really need to travel around more for trains
8:33 This sounds very much similar to our C151A trains!😊
True
Indeed!
i take keisei often i hear until sian alr 😂
@@zbkvolgrenIt is Hokuso's car
hokuso and chiba newtown railway are subsidiaries of keisei lol
i landed at haneda and got the toei 5500 series at haneda, interesting for my first japan train to sound like what i thought, PMSM KHI + SKPGLRT + KSFA/B/C combined
7:28 the e233 motor is the best for sure
my fav sounding trains are the 209-1000 chuo line rapid and 23 series yotsubashi line, which has similar motor as SIE and ur first train featured
3:36 Sounds exactly like the trains in NSL!
The C751B and LRT Sengkang Line vehicles are made in Japan, so the sound may be similar.
7:32 we have Mitsubishi VVVF up here in Vancouver Canada
1:15 Tokyu 9000 Series use Hitachi VVVF-GTO, it's my personal best train sound of all time.. The other Hitachi VVVF-GTO didn't stand a chance
Mmm yes it sounds awesome
seibu 日立 GTO-VVVF (VFG-HR1820B) also nice 😂
but now no more
Some find it noisy but i love japanese trains klik-klak sounds. Even my son loves it. Our mrt is so quiet, no character hehe
ya those make for good sound recording videos
for klik klak my fav one is keisei
your mrt may be quiet but at least bus and train headways in singapore are far better 😂
train frequency in the suburbs here is terrible, like 20-45min or sometimes exceeding 1hr
like hachiko line, hokuso line, boso peninsula or saitama/gunma/tochigi
kanagawa headway better cos population density there higher
Singapore have the old Siemens trains , I think there's still 6 in service, those sound really nice imo
@@glitchFan2428 no lah not the engine sound but the kilk-klak / rail track sounds the Japanese trains made
@@arikevin ahh okay fair enough 👍🏻
ya cos insulated rail joints are more common here than in SG
in SG they're only located before and after the crossovers
but rural lines here the IRJs are everywhere 😂
I really love the KNS, ALSA and C810
Fun fact: Eidan subway (now tokyo metro) had used lots of chopper motors that were similar to c151. But sadly, they are now defunct.
Sad reaccs
we stil got thyristor chopper inside tokyo metro 😂
just not tokyo metro rolling stock
In Indonesia, They are still that sound.
y'all lucky that u still can hear it 😂
TOBU 9000系
3:13 This proportion is used the R179 in MTA at NYC (Kinda the same)
Wow you weren't kidding about 4:10 , I think the same motor is used on CrystalMovers throughout the US
I would think so too
Awesome video, some of train sound silimar to sg lrt and mrt but motor feel differemt sound
Thanks! It deffo feels same but different 😁
0:00 Sound Like SMRT C751B IGBT-VVVF
Welcome to Tokyo!!
Thank you! I have returned back to England now, but I really enjoyed my time in Japan 👍🏻
Well most of the trains sound familiar but some did sound like hybrids of rolling stock motors. Great video as usual!
Thank you very much!
I am a Japanese who lived in Buona Vista Singapore for 3 years. I really miss the MRT and the country!!! I use Tokyu lines every day by the way lol
Hope you enjoyed your stay in Singapore!
@@glitchFan2428 of course I did!!☺️
I really miss Bak kut teh and chicken rice!!
751B/151A
Yes
is there one tht sounds like the C651?
keihin kyuko used to have them
now no more 😂
I may have seen a few of them when we were at the Narita Airport Terminal 2 station.
that one is keisei's most common model 😂
Also for Tokyo Metro 05 Series, it looks the same sound from Kawasaki C151. You may find this train in Jakarta. I don't know if Tokyo Metro 05 Series is still running in Japan.
Ooo yes I heard about some of the bus being exported to Jakarta
still running but no more gto
all change to pmsm or igbt
7:57 another familiar IKK
except IKK trains have an initial rise up when starting, and the drop in sound tone isn't as hard as this one
2:56 pmsm c151
The first train at the beginning sounded like the T251.
my favourite is the JR E231-1000 pre-refurbished version. a very unorthodox VVVF motor that is slowly becoming extinct. 😢
Hitachi IGBT VVVF crash inverter. There are still a few equipped, especially attached formations with 5 cars.
Mitsubishi IGBT VVVF Tornado/Ghost inverter in E231 -0/-500 was one of the best. But all are updated.
1:20 is like the C751A motor
0:00 Sounds like the Hitachi 800s and 385s
4:56 sounds like an lirr m7 but high pitched and faster
Perhaps similar manufacturer hm
@@glitchFan2428 i looked it up and the train at 4:56 is the toei 6300 series. some of them have mitsubishi motors, like the lirr m7
we called these sound VVVF(Voltage Variable Frequenc)and train Otaku can tell which series is this train )y hearing but the hardest thing is some of them have the same sound
5:05 is the PTC and STC lrts
Singapore also has the same sound as the Stockholm metro for the Movia R151..
and the Alstom Metropolis have variable sounds, some with "stages", others not.
R151 seems very quiet compared to previous generations of trains
@@glitchFan2428 I personally think that the sound is too high and twists the eardrums. The Sic allows it to operate at very high frequencies.
R151 sounds similar to London's Elizabeth Line/CrossRail's Class 345 too
8:32 nice timestamp.
Kawasaki was made in at Japan
You go japan right
The idea this sound so familiar is C151
now no more gto chopper here 😂
@@zbkvolgren yea 😄
@@zbkvolgren no gto sadness
we still got thyristor chopper resistor control and gto vvvf so ya
and diesel train
0:38 Sounds like the DLR B07 light rail vehicles
151B/151C

PLEASE COME TO HONG KONG I WANNA COLLABORATE WITH YOU
japan has alot of nice sounding trains
Agree!
751A
2:55 This sounds similar to the C951 trains plying the Downtown Line.
Sound like the E235 rolling stock too
So does this mean that some of these familiar sounding trains in SG come from Japan??🤩🤩😍🥰
the motors yes
0:29 that’s the toyoko line

Nice!
cant go wrong with japanese trains
1:07 sounds like Piccadilly 3:17 is that R160 3:42 class 377
3:17 is a r179
There are trams in Amsterdam where the engine sounds like the New Circle Line MRT
Maybe something to try out mmm
@@glitchFan2428 dam you replied
@@glitchFan2428 the service is like 54 and 57 from central station, i cant remember because it was like 5-6 years ago
4:10 Kind of sounds like Hong Kong's Kinki Sharyo SP1900
Familiar auras
Can try to do London Underground? 1996 Stock sounds like (R)C751A while 1995 Stock sounds like C830. S Stock sounds like C951(A).
Actually, good point. Problem is I seldom go to London 😅😅 may do at some point, after all it's just a 5 hour bus ride 😂
damn, i wish i could go there. im still in sg tho. the trains in sg obviously cool
I think the trains in Japan are really beautiful tho
Did u manage to know where are the C810Ds maybe u can see it in the factory making

jiyugaoka, oimachi and daimon are within tokyo
Heard a similar train sound in hong kong.
A pity that are no one Japan trains with Siemens melody thus nothing comparable to the C651 train in Singapore. Some of the Keikyu trains used to have it but they got replaced by another motor.
Ooo yes C651 in Singapore is still the best sounding train
i find toyo gto vvvf nicer than siemens 😂
They sound alike but is the pickup to the motor different sounding
It probably won't sound 100% the same but similar
JR East E231-0 Series Traction Motor IGBT-VVVF Mitsubishi Electric is Pretty sound like.
8:55 The Keisei 3000/3100 series also run on the Keisei Main Line towards Narita and the Keikyu Lines towards Haneda Airport
I think I got one to the airport
@@glitchFan2428 there are other trains with the Toyo Denki IGBT VVVF too, the Keikyu 1000 (formerly used Siemens GTO but also the newer stainless steel sets that are 4/6 carriages) also uses it.
that one also runs on hokuso line
smrt train is from japan
nooo not history repeating again with the c151b propulsion but Tokyo train
actually we moving more towards SiC than igbt now 😂

Oh wait I'm also watching in Singapore💀☠️
Does all japan trains have vvvf?
no
thyristor chopper, resistor control still exist
thyristor is still quite common
keisei still have resistor control
Do you guys know what traction motors the train used in 7:12?
that one is a mix of pmsm and igbt
@zbkvolgren yeah I got it now, it's from Toshiba! But ty anyways
Happy Chinese new year 🎉
Happy Chinese new year to you too!
in my opinion the toei 5500 series sounds more similar to the splrt rolling stock
that one is SiC vvvf
damn silent 😂
Not a train geek but I want to ask. Got the burning smell or not? 😂
some train models here really prone to friction braking a lot 😂
What about Saitama Rapid Railway 2000 Series? It sounds a lot like the combo of Changi Airport Skytrain and the Punggol/Sengkang LRT.
Ooo didn't try that
@@glitchFan2428 Also the Tokyo Metro 03 Series from Hibiya Line. It sounds like C151.
no more alr
now hibiya line very boring 😂
