Shikamaru seems to have forgotten the time he wanted to go after hidan and kakazu and the only reason him and the other 2 didnt die on multiple occasions was because of kakashi but OK Shikamaru. Even your dad reccomended kakashi be the next hokage after tsunade went into a coma

Kakashi went with shikamaru's strategy, even kakashi himself knew they wouldn't have won without shikamaru's plan. Not saying shikamaru didn't need kakashi, kakashi was actually perfect for the task with his skill. In the end, I believe both characters highly respect each other as shinobi. Shikamaru just felt that if you are given the title of hokage, you need to do hokage shit. He ain't wrong on that in my opinion. Kakashi seems more of a field shinobi anyways. He was the guy you needed to ensure a more successful mission imo.

Kakashi is the non kekke genkai version of itachi. Without any assistance he was able to excel to anbu ops level at a young age and even shown compatibility with one non-biological sharingan. Which he matured and trained up to the Mangekyou sharingan might I add. Only a handful of pure blooded Uchiha have ever reached that level. He's still alive and a subordinate of the fourth and sensei of the seventh. He is a living legend!

Kakashi was perfectly qualified, having Kamui would have leveled him up to Minato levels, however he's extremely smart & experienced which compensates for his lack of Sharingan (what he famously know for having)

Its not always about physical power. Although kakashi is a prodigy and and is a beast even without any special gifts. He was one of the smartest characters loved the village and ready to die for his frds and comrades. He was the only one who never feared to fight even tho he knew the opponent is stronger

... what I wanna know is where this novel is coming from? Is it like fan-fiction or did Kishimoto actually write this shit? You all know that Kishi doesn't really have much to do with Boruto, right? I just stopped paying attention to Naruto after chapter 700 got released and finally ended the Naruto story. I was so relieved since I was getting kind of tired of how Kishi kept dragging the story along for no real reason.
It's because he grew up with Naruto and it's hard seeing him as any different then who he was when they first meet. For example one of my friends in high was pretty short but after high school had a giant growth spurt and became a giant. Even though it's been over ten years since high school is over I can't help and see him as a short sweet kid even though he isn't short by any means. It's the same with parents always seeing their children as babies even when they become full grown adults.

Only reason Kakashi became hokage was 2 reason so Sasuke wouldn't spend life in jail and so when naruto becomes of age he can step down and pass it to naruto, instead of a hokage that would stay until they died not letting naruto be hokage for a long duration or until he's an old man.

Shikamaru was right about Kakashi. Even Kakashi himself would agree with that. There were many who wanted Kakashi as the Hokage, but they couldn't know how Kakashi would turn out to be as a Hokage _(even though he himself warned them by saying he won't be good)_ before actually seeing him "in action". That being said though. Shikamaru didn't seem like he understood the bigger picture of what it takes to maintain peace. What mentality is needed for that. This is shown by what he thinks of Naruto and Sasuke. Shikamaru himself would make for a good textbook Kage when it comes to his decision making. But I believe he himself would too do more damage than good if he was a Kage, similarly to the 2nd Hokage. A lovely character development would have been transforming Shikamaru slowly into the new Danzo. But that ship has long passed.
Well put, but idk about shikamaru becoming the new danzo. Shikamaru was lazy as hell, but he still did all those things for his friends and those he cared about. Looking back at the sound 4 mission, he felt like shit and thought he failed as a leader when his squad mates were in critical condition. Danzo loved no one and his actions were selfish.
Mason Tucker that’s how it could potentially manifest in shikamaru though. He cares for his friends and family in the village and would risk his life to protect them. Danzo thought the same but along the way he lost his reason and methods were too extreme. But he still thought he was doing it to protect the village even though deep down it was selfishness and ego. Shikamaru seeing this darker side of the ninja world through working for Kakashi and interacting with the other villages and lands could’ve developed him in that same way, but its too late for that now, and maybe for the best since the whole point of Naruto’s generation was to break all the toxic cycles in the ninja world

Shikamaru really is the pragmatic character in the story. Some people like it, some people don't. For me, this just proves that Shikamaru should be the 8th.
I think I would be happy with Kakashi as a Hokage if we could have seen parts of when he had to put technology in the village, or when he add to do peace treaties with the other kages. We have all seen the other kages have amazing fights as Hokage. Kakashi didn't have to fight as a hokage, he had other things to do, and I'm not really satisfied that we couldn't see the great things kakashi did.
As a son of white fang i dont understand why kakashi is weak? He should at least come near to jiraya in power level . Whitefang was so feared ninja as minato. Writer should have given kakashi to use some lightning shield, lightining fire jutsu, lightining armour after kakashi is without saringan and big summoning animals like of jiraya and orochimaru not just small dog. He learned 1000 jutsu and just uses mostly raikiri and mud wall. That is ridiculous. He should at least use some awesome jutsu suprisingly . @@ereh11 Hashirama as great as he is deserves credit for building the foundation for the leaf village and creating the blueprint of one country one village. However, I think it was a big mistake for him to distribute the tailed beasts to other countries as a means to maintain a power balance and promote peace. I understand he wanted to create balance between countries but that created big problems. The tailed beasts were used as weapons of war for all the ninja wars and made it easy for Akatsuki to capture seven of them prior to the 4th great ninja war and almost lead to the end of the world. Also, the tailed beasts being sealed into humans made jinchuriki’s lives being miserable.

I would not be surprised if Shikamaru is chosen to become the next hokage a war general he's leadership to sacrifice himself will in some way benefit his allies which makes him stronger than some. he is given the responsibility of leading his friends into battle, for which reason he does everything that he can to keep them safe, he is given even more responsibility over even more of his friends, and always have a plan by trying to find some way out of it.

Let's be honest. Having a Hokage with PTSD and Depression just isn't a great idea :) And Kakashi never really _wanted_ to be the Hokage. It was never his goal. He accepted the position because others thought he should, and because Obito told him to become Hokage.
the hokage is honestly a flawed title anyways. You need the strong people doing something else, and the hokage is primarily a desk job. The idea of kages passing it down to whoever without any real election and no term limits is honestly super flawed. Of course there'd be no naruto otherwise.

Shikamaru didn't disapprove of Kakashi as a hokage. He knew how Kakashi is as a human being from the very beginning (can be lazy at times, always reading porn) and yet still volunteered to be trained as a hokage's advisor under him (because he believed Kakashi is a very capable shinobi and hokage). I might be naive, but it's not that dark. You're overthinking it dude. And the Shikamaru Hiden book was not really a canon (at least in terms of characterization), though the anime adapted the plot into an arc. It's written by Yano Takashi. I find that his version of Shikamaru is rather cold and too serious. That version of Shikamaru carries into Shikamaru Shinden, too, by the same author, where he cannot express himself properly to Temari and Shikadai like an emotionally retarded person. Shikamaru is better than that in my mind's eye. So I don't really want to take what's in the Hiden about how Shikamaru thought of Kakashi and take it seriously.
Good points! But I'm going to go off topic (sorry, you gave me the occasion): "Icha Icha" isn't porn. There're erotic passages in the books, I'm sure, but it's not straight up porn. There's a plot that's important to the story for instead. I don't think Kakashi would be this excited about the revelation of the main character's dark secret or afraid of spoilers if he was just reading porn. Also, he never seems flustered when reading his books, only being bothered when he had to read a sentimental quote out loud (again, solidifying the idea that these are romance novels, not pornography).
I always feel it's kinda unnecessary to make Kakashi a hokage when his reign is gone in the timeskip, Tsunade should've continued being an outstanding hokage she is while grooming Naruto to become hokage the next hokage. Also having too many hokage (7) make it's value less prestigious (quantity>quality), they should've preserved it's exclusivity like other village who is upto 6th generation at most

Shikamaru was a little bit of a jealous hater it seemed. Not everyone matures on the same level at the same time. One could say he’s too serious and mature. Kakashi is the non kekke genkai version of itachi. Without any assistance he was able to excel to anbu ops level at a young age and even shown compatibility with one non-biological sharingan. Which he matured and trained up to the Mangekyou sharingan might I add. Only a handful of pure blooded Uchiha have ever reached that level. He's still alive and a subordinate of the fourth and sensei of the seventh. He is a living legend!

It's because he grew up with Naruto and it's hard seeing him as any different then who he was when they first meet. For example one of my friends in high was pretty short but after high school had a giant growth spurt and became a giant. Even though it's been over ten years since high school is over I can't help and see him as a short sweet kid even though he isn't short by any means. It's the same with parents always seeing their children as babies even when they become full grown adults.

There were many who wanted Kakashi as the Hokage, but they couldn't know how Kakashi would turn out to be as a Hokage _(even though he himself warned them by saying he won't be good)_ before actually seeing him "in action".
That being said though. Shikamaru didn't seem like he understood the bigger picture of what it takes to maintain peace. What mentality is needed for that. This is shown by what he thinks of Naruto and Sasuke. Shikamaru himself would make for a good textbook Kage when it comes to his decision making. But I believe he himself would too do more damage than good if he was a Kage, similarly to the 2nd Hokage.
A lovely character development would have been transforming Shikamaru slowly into the new Danzo. But that ship has long passed.

Looking back at the sound 4 mission, he felt like shit and thought he failed as a leader when his squad mates were in critical condition. Danzo loved no one and his actions were selfish.
Mason Tucker that’s how it could potentially manifest in shikamaru though. He cares for his friends and family in the village and would risk his life to protect them. Danzo thought the same but along the way he lost his reason and methods were too extreme. But he still thought he was doing it to protect the village even though deep down it was selfishness and ego. Shikamaru seeing this darker side of the ninja world through working for Kakashi and interacting with the other villages and lands could’ve developed him in that same way, but its too late for that now, and maybe for the best since the whole point of Naruto’s generation was to break all the toxic cycles in the ninja world

I think I would be happy with Kakashi as a Hokage if we could have seen parts of when he had to put technology in the village, or when he add to do peace treaties with the other kages. We have all seen the other kages have amazing fights as Hokage. Kakashi didn't have to fight as a hokage, he had other things to do, and I'm not really satisfied that we couldn't see the great things kakashi did.
As a son of white fang i dont understand why kakashi is weak? He should at least come near to jiraya in power level . Whitefang was so feared ninja as minato. Writer should have given kakashi to use some lightning shield, lightining fire jutsu, lightining armour after kakashi is without saringan and big summoning animals like of jiraya and orochimaru not just small dog. He learned 1000 jutsu and just uses mostly raikiri and mud wall. That is ridiculous. He should at least use some awesome jutsu suprisingly . However, I think it was a big mistake for him to distribute the tailed beasts to other countries as a means to maintain a power balance and promote peace. I understand he wanted to create balance between countries but that created big problems. The tailed beasts were used as weapons of war for all the ninja wars and made it easy for Akatsuki to capture seven of them prior to the 4th great ninja war and almost lead to the end of the world. Also, the tailed beasts being sealed into humans made jinchuriki’s lives being miserable.

I would not be surprised if Shikamaru is chosen to become the next hokage a war general he's leadership to sacrifice himself will in some way benefit his allies which makes him stronger than some. he is given the responsibility of leading his friends into battle, for which reason he does everything that he can to keep them safe, he is given even more responsibility over even more of his friends, and always have a plan by trying to find some way out of it.

Kakashi is an older man and hes done his part, kakashi as hogake is just a buffer for maturity to form in shikamaru and naruto.
Let's face it, the only reason Sasuke was allowed to live was because they were afraid of him and Naruto. They all hailed Naruto as a hero because he directly saved their asses on numerous occasions during the war then they hear he lost his arm in a stalemate battle with Sasuke. The prospect of going against Naruto and Sasuke must've scared every village.

Those are circumstances that we cannot discern his they came about. It is difficult to criticize and compare a time of peace to a time if war. Kakashi was just fortunate that Kara and the Otsutsuki were not on the move during his time as hokage.

I have never left a comment on your videos before. I have been watching him for a year though. I really enjoy them and I love that you keep up with all Naruto content. Although boruto has been a huge letdown, as far as what I expected from it, I still enjoy your views on the current episodes and chapters. my favorite videos that you make so or anyting that involve something in that is now "in the history books" especially stop revolving around the Naruto novels because I am not been able to get my hands on them and I love hearing about them. The Naruto after Shippuden is my favorite series of yours. you have such a great way of regarding the past content of Naruto to make it sound like it is something you are reading out of a history book. @@OMGaBlackGguy Jiraya died being stubbed by some chakra rodes, how could've he protect the villagers from Pain's Shinra tensei like Tsunade did? .When Jiraya fought Pain, Pain didn't went 100 % with Chibaku Tensei neither with Shinra tensei on Jiraya, because it would've destroyed his village .So Jiraya was lucky by having the chance to fight with Pain .And he would've died along side the villagers against Shinra Tensei .

Shikamaru didn't disapprove of Kakashi as a hokage. He knew how Kakashi is as a human being from the very beginning (can be lazy at times, always reading porn) and yet still volunteered to be trained as a hokage's advisor under him (because he believed Kakashi is a very capable shinobi and hokage). I might be naive, but it's not that dark. You're overthinking it dude.
And the Shikamaru Hiden book was not really a canon (at least in terms of characterization), though the anime adapted the plot into an arc. It's written by Yano Takashi. I find that his version of Shikamaru is rather cold and too serious. That version of Shikamaru carries into Shikamaru Shinden, too, by the same author, where he cannot express himself properly to Temari and Shikadai like an emotionally retarded person. Shikamaru is better than that in my mind's eye. So I don't really want to take what's in the Hiden about how Shikamaru thought of Kakashi and take it seriously.
Good points! But I'm going to go off topic (sorry, you gave me the occasion): "Icha Icha" isn't porn. There're erotic passages in the books, I'm sure, but it's not straight up porn. There's a plot that's important to the story for instead. I don't think Kakashi would be this excited about the revelation of the main character's dark secret or afraid of spoilers if he was just reading porn. Also, he never seems flustered when reading his books, only being bothered when he had to read a sentimental quote out loud (again, solidifying the idea that these are romance novels, not pornography).

I always feel it's kinda unnecessary to make Kakashi a hokage when his reign is gone in the timeskip, Tsunade should've continued being an outstanding hokage she is while grooming Naruto to become hokage the next hokage. Also having too many hokage (7) make it's value less prestigious (quantity>quality), they should've preserved it's exclusivity like other village who is upto 6th generation at most

Lol Kakashi didn't even wanna be Hokage, it was just an honorable thing to do for the village and his late friend Obito. No one else was better qualified at the time, so Kakashi humbly accepted it. Shikamaru was naturally a lazy person until he understood the nature of his job and Kakashi's. Not like it changed when Naruto was made the Hokage, the same work is being done
Still though Shikamaru had a lot of responsibilities to carry out. Kakashi could of at least put more effort into it instead of Shikamaru doing all the work.

Shikamaru was a little bit of a jealous hater it seemed. Not everyone matures on the same level at the same time. One could say he’s too serious and mature. Wasn’t the running gag with him was that he was extremely lazy and stepped up definitely only when needed, but he knocks kakashi for the same thing.
