so sorry that happened with your audio!! I actually love the too-short dress over the skort! Another potential fix would be to add some trim to it that makes it a come inches longer if you're up for a ~mini-thrift flip~
As someone who was a teen/young 20s in the 90s ... we were into 70s fashion, lol, so those plaid pants would have been on theme. I remember I had a pair of pastel purple pants in a 70s cut and I thought I was the shit. I bought them in 1997 from either Contempo or Wet Seal. I was a big fan of a baby tee and denim bell bottoms or a skater skirt, too.
I'm glad you're feeling better! I love the idea of shopping for past trends as if you're actually in that time period. It's like getting to see the trends through the eyes of the people in that era.
I was born in 89 so the 90s were basically my entire childhood. I love 90s-inspired style and especially grunge because that’s what all the cool teenagers that I looked up to were wearing when I was kid. When I wear grunge I still get that feeling that I’m dressed like one of the cool kids 🥰
My favorite time in fashion is honestly the 1930's, 40's and 50s. I just love the style of those eras and I'm trying to incorporate elements from them into my outfits. And then I absolutely love anything 16th, 17th and 18th century. That's my other great fashion inspiration. Obviously not as wearable today, but I still love incorporating historical details into modern day fahsion. Honestly, I think people in the past dresses much cooler than we do now, although there are still some really cute current trends.
My fave decade of fashion is def 90’s just bc most of it is sooooo easy, accessible and honestly comfortable compared to other decades but I also really love y2k, 60’s & 70’s style 🥰 it’s hard to choose a fave bc every era has SOMETHING for everyone imo. Glad you’re feeling better btw ❤
Okay first your hair looks the best I've ever seen it!!! second that black dress was a 90's gift from the thrift gods, it couldn't be more perfect. lastly, I think the super short blue dress would look amazing over jeans, I know that's a very hit or miss "trend" right now but worth a try since you have both things, would love to see it styled like that!!
I was in my teens/early 20s in the 90s and you absolutely nailed it with the first two looks for sure. The black floral dress, or "granny dress" as we called them and Dr. Martens would have been a go to look for me. That red floral babydoll dress made me so nostalgic. I would have paired it with tights and Mary Jane shoes back in the day. ❤
As a life long thrifter and gen x ( I’m 51) I lived in white v neck tees, crochet vests, baggy jeans, solid crop tops, vests and I was obsessed with old navy floral dresses. I graduated in 1990 and it was all about vision street wear, cross colors, bike shorts , china flats and mc hammer pants lol
I'm moving across the country right now and have really enjoyed your videos. They've brought me a sense of peace, its like I'm on FaceTime with a good friend. Plus it gives me style inspiration cause imma need some new clothes once I get to my destination 😅 just wanted to share. Thank you!
That blue mini dress would look so cute with blue shorts, especially shorter lace ones! I was surprised how much I liked the styling with the skort. Don’t give up on it!
1990s ralph lauren polo shirts, band tshirts, shortalls, and homemade jean shorts from our old jeans 👖, collared button up shirts bloused and tucked into high waisted jeans with penny loafers- with sweaters worn over the button up in winter 😀. Guess jeans were everything and everywhere.
You definitely channeled your inner Elaine Benes with that floral dress! The cute white collar, the buttons down the front and styled with the white socks and leather shoes. - PERFECTION! Love it! ❤
First, your hair color is lovely! Loved the babydoll top on you, would look cute over denim shorts. The black lace top outfit was perfect! You look really good in black. Now, about the yellow shorts. You could have dyed them. There are excellent fabric dyed available at Dharma Trading and they have charts to show what colors you could expect from the yellow base. There are also color removers that possibly could have to Ed that yellow down. I think those would have been great in a rust color. You need different dyes for different fabrics but the site helps with that. Those were a great quality short with such a nice fit so perfect for some diy. So glad you're feeling better!
Omg please go back and get those yellow Eddie Bauer shorts!!! You could dye those super easily, they're so perfect!!!! Obsessed with everything you got 😍
“Would this color look good on me?” asks A. Sunshine about the yellow shorts. A really great 90s movie with good contemporaneous fashion inspo is Reality Bites. Also the first few seasons of The Real World for a more documentary style selection. Lot of realness in the 90s.
The black floral dress and the outfit you put together with the floral sheet cardigan may be two of my favorite outfits ever!!! 😍🖤 Just WOW! You found some amazing pieces!
The black floral dress!!! I love it so much, that is literally my dream dress. I actually love the blue dress with the skort, gives a bit of an edgy look - I love it. I wish thrift shops in the U.K. were even half as good!
Alexa, I don’t know if you’ve ever talked about it but I noticed that everything you wear fits you so well and the materials seem to be very good quality which makes you look so put together! I admire this a lot because it’s very hard to have the clothes fit so perfectly and find quality materials but it makes such a big difference.
These are all so cute! Also the super short dress, something you could do is sew on a lace trim? It would look super cute!! And be an easy way to make it a little longer, I’ve done it on jeans that where just a smidge to short and it’s a great solution!
I love the 50s, 60s and 70s style the best retro and vintage, kawaii, sporty style, cottage core, barbie core, hippie core, preppy core, rainbow, rock and gothic styles. Also some 80s, 90s and 00s styles
I've seen sabrina the teenage witch probably like 3 times through and i agree the fashion is 👌👌👌 her outfit in one of the christmas episodes is my roman empire
I love 90s and y2k for sure but I’m always so drawn to the glamorous fashion of like old school hollywood in the 20s and up ( like Kate winslet from titanic) I loved how women would wear the corsets and dresses the big beautiful hats ant the like I loved fashion in the 50s summer they would wear to e daisy dukes with a red tie front top with white sunnies and cute shoes and like a bandana in their hair!! It’s so cute, and the way men dressed was so cool too! Loved when the women always wore the fancy hats and stuff, so fun!
The red dress with the flowers at 11:43 ... Depending on the fit and length, but I gasped for a nano second 😅 This store seems awesome! 😄 And overwhelming
Loooove all the things you bought! It looks gorgeous on you. The midi floral dress 😍😍😍 I am so inspired and i'm going to pinterest right now to look for more inspo.
As someone who was in high school in the late '90s, the black sheer jacket thing, the shiny red shirt you didn't get, and those yellow jean shorts are definitely things I would have seen in stores back then. If you want the teen/college look of the '90s, you'll want shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Dawson's Creek. a bit of Friends and especially Seinfield were more adults carrying over trends from the late '80s to very early '90s than what was in style for teens/young adults.
I think what you said is so right I was raised in the 90s and born in the 80s and my decade to me is the 80s and I love 90s so I have a little bit of both but on that part you are right and the Y2K thing I understood that too cuz I see a lot of young girls now trying to copy what I had in Middle School
as a genz i have dabbled in 2000's inspired fashion but my fave fashion decade is also the 90's by far - my fave pieces being the slip dresses, mom jeans or denim dungarees, turtlenecks etc. tbh in every decade i find something i appreciate like i dont love 70s fashion but things like the prairie dresses are pretty cool
The dress and lil sheer cardigan you found were SOOOO good! I’m more of a fan of 70s fashion overall, but this definitely inspired me to rewatch my fave 90s sitcoms 😂
Fun video :) If I saw the 80s does 20s drop-waist dresses I would immediately add to cart lol. I'm loving a drop-waist silhouette when it's loose and worn like a flapper-style dress
Wearing jeans with super short dresses is my favorite!! I was thinking that babydoll dress you didnt end up getting wouldve been sooo cute with jeans! Love the plaid peplum you got tho
Love this! Just yesterday I also thrifted some 90s gems including some butter 🧈 yellow high waisted shorts! I wish you luck in refinding those bright yellow shorts in a different color ✨
I was born in the 80s but the 90s took me through most of my childhood and teenage years, lol. I absolutely LOVE that a lot of the trends are coming back. Gives me an excuse to sort of relive a bit of my younger years 😂 Plus a lot of the trends during that time were so cute
90s Obsessed too. There's some great 📺TV/🎞Film inspo from that era. Been getting lots of ideas from Monica (& Phoebe) of Friends lately. It still feels modern & relevant to my lifestyle. Once lived Elaine too, but I have moved away from her favored long 🌸floral dresses. Mine has morphed into skirts〰️& more solids over patterns. Although I still wear a similar hairstyle to hers. Like longer hair like the character, & also prefer it up off my face. 😊Like that both of these sitcoms more often realistically styled the female leads in flats to hoof around their mythical NYC🏙 stomping grounds too. 🎉Great picks!🎉 You looked fab in all the items. The black femme cardi was my favorite of the bunch, but the plaid top was quite pretty. 😉I have gathered a pile of short slim denim (never could do a mini or micro-mini) & long flowly chambray dresses to try on from my closet. See if I wanna bring 'em out again or finally pass 'em on. 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
60s and 90s are my favorites! 70s comes in close as a third place, and I do REALLY love 90s does 70s pieces. I was heavily into tumblr grunge, and I'm also fond of true 90s grunge- and I don't think I'll ever grow out of it! Please do more 90s videos :o) I love your take on the style!!
I'm an exer and I too love the 90's Also, a reason why your mind might go to fall looks is because in the 90's TV shows would run from September to May, so lots of fall & winter looks
I am 😢😮😨🫢😱that you passed on that beautiful, choice, vintage, Buckeye Starter jacket! I literally live so close to the Horseshoe I can hear the games in season. That jacket would be in a case behind the counter here in Columbus 😂!
I think that Byer Too was the children’s line of the brand Byer, if I remember correctly. I graduated high school in 1993. You did good. The lace cardigan is perfect. I love the last piece that you found as well.
Amazing finds!! 😍💖 I’m almost positive the short floral dress is either in “junior’s” or children’s sizing, which would explain the narrowness and shortened proportions lol 🙈 I remember “Byer Too” being a department store brand when I was a kid (I think it was at Sears?). There were other versions of the brand as well; I remember A. Byer and Byer California, which I think might have been in women’s sizing and might actually still be around today but I’m not sure on that. 🤔 Btw, your hair looks so good!! 😍 And it’s getting so long- wow!! 😻 Also, I’m so glad you weren’t more seriously injured from falling down the stairs! 😩😮💨 Hoping you feel 100% better soon! ❤
Alexa, go back and get those yellow shorts ! They were so cool ! If not for yourself, then to send to me ! 😆 Love the lace cardigan and the Byer top as well !
You're the reason I really started to thrift :) In Belgium, it's not so usual to go to thrift shops, there's less shops, less choice... But it's so cool to hunt ^^
Ah that means so much!!! I would be so curious to see what it’s like there, I feel like the US just buys too much so we have like warehouse sized thrift stores 😅
@@alexasunshine83 We have mostly tiny little retail shops, with an "independent owner" who's really passionate about thrifting, and some "warehouse style" ones, but... not as big as in US xD Little country, little shops :D
Great video I’m sorry your back is hurting so bad. I didn’t fall but I have really bad back problems so I felt your pain when you were talking about how bad it hurt to try on those yellow shorts.
My favorite fashion era is the 70 s, love the groovy stuff I would love to find a acidwash denim jacket in my size I loved the yellow shorts and the gingam short sleeve Love tha plad top and the gorgeous floral dress Would you do this video for the 80 s too, please?
You can easily washing machine dye denim. Black is the safe choice for this shade of yellow. The only risk is that the stitching will remain yellow. Which will hardly be noticeable. And don't worry your washing machine will be fine. Just run a self cleaning cycle after and use some wipes to clean the rubber ring if you have a front loading washer.
Girl after watching my vid and yours I’ve come to the conclusion that you’re the Phoebe to my Rachel 😂❤❤❤
Yes 💘💘💘💘
Collab!
Yes please!
It would be cool!
Watching you both @HaleysCornerr 😂 You are my F. R. I. E. N. D. S. 😅😊
“Linger” by the cranberries playing in the background at savers was so perfect for this video theme!
I thought the same!
I was about to comment the same thing 🤣
Came to comment the same! I've been so into that album and sooo into whimsigoth style lately! It made me smile when it came on in the background 😊
had to re-upload this video because the audio got messed up an hour after being live 😭 hoping this one doesn't do the same thing
so sorry that happened with your audio!!
I actually love the too-short dress over the skort! Another potential fix would be to add some trim to it that makes it a come inches longer if you're up for a ~mini-thrift flip~
You can wear the super short dress with black biker shorts with a lace trim. Can’t get more 90s than that ❤
i'm totally obsessed with the black dress with flowers!!! 💐 i love 90s fashion and i hope you will keep doing themed videos related to 90s
As someone who was a teen/young 20s in the 90s ... we were into 70s fashion, lol, so those plaid pants would have been on theme. I think you forgot one of the best 90's inspo... Buffy the vampire slayer! 😄
Yes im a Buffy superfan and I was thinking the same thing!!
Yessss! I was always so envious of her wardrobe. I remember being so excited when I found a tshirt exactly like one she wore.
I’m rewatching Buffy right now and loving all the outfit inspiration!
As a former teen in the '90s, I get nostalgia whiplash watching Buffy. That show is a time capsule! That and Dawson's Creek.
YES i love her wardrobe !!!

Hammer Time! I so remember those pants! 😄😄😄
I still love Old Navy floral dresses, they just do them right! I feel like it's a pretty underrated brand and it's easy to find when thrifting.
I love this. I graduated highschool in 97' and Kat Stratford was my style icon. Now as a grown woman it's Phoebe for sure

okay but why am i obsessed with the deck of cards button up 😂
Your hair looks nice at the end. Very pretty.
That blue mini dress would look so cute with blue shorts, especially shorter lace ones! I was surprised how much I liked the styling with the skort. Don’t give up on it!

i have been looking for a 90's empire wasted mini dress for ages!! That was pretty much my wardrobe in the mid-90's!!
The sheer cardigan is so Buffy!

I love that sheer coverup cardi thing! So perfect for Cali, and definitely 90s witchy!
The short blue dress looked good with the black skort and the black jacket, I think you styled it very well for the uncomfortable dress length! 👗👗✨✨
The black floral dress and the outfit you put together with the floral sheet cardigan may be two of my favorite outfits ever!!! 😍🖤 Just WOW! You found some amazing pieces!

Love this! Just yesterday I also thrifted some 90s gems including some butter 🧈 yellow high waisted shorts! I wish you luck in refinding those bright yellow shorts in a different color ✨
Girl. I was a baby hippy in the 90s and I made a living selling tops and dresses that WERE that Zara shirt.....just patchwork or a nice floral❤
I was born in the 80s but the 90s took me through most of my childhood and teenage years, lol. I absolutely LOVE that a lot of the trends are coming back. Gives me an excuse to sort of relive a bit of my younger years 😂 Plus a lot of the trends during that time were so cute

The first dress 😍 perfection!
Nice vid! I would cut the short dress to make it a crop top and a mid/low wasted skirt, then it would cover up everything! Love from Uruguay 💕
Friends is the best sitcom
15:46 WAIT WHY DOES THIS TOP REMIND ME OF BIBBLE AHAHAH
Just started watching the vid, but the Sooners jersey top surprises me being in Cali, but also makes me happy because I'm from Oklahoma!
itchy sparkly tops were so 90's from what I remember well if you purchased new clothes in the late 1990's. I generally thrifted clothes in the 90's. 🤣
Would love to see you attempt some thrift flips for a video! Fails welcome ;)
It’s the AS IF for me!!!!!
Add a black lace trim to the bottom of the blue dress or wear with blue bike shorts.
That velvet sheer top is soo soo pretty ❤
you could wear a little white slip skirt under the blue dress that's kinda short

I love yellow and I'm so happy that it's not that popular
I hope you are getting better. Love you❤. I picked up some sparkling pink docs and am looking for ideas on how to wear em. Thanks

Great video I’m sorry your back is hurting so bad. I didn’t fall but I have really bad back problems so I felt your pain when you were talking about how bad it hurt to try on those yellow shorts.
My favorite fashion era is the 70 s, love the groovy stuff
I would love to find a acidwash denim jacket in my size
I loved the yellow shorts and the gingam short sleeve
Love tha plad top and the gorgeous floral dress
Would you do this video for the 80 s too, please?
Everything is really cute.
