Some of this info is good but don't use this video to teach your bird to talk. Imagine if someone "taught you to talk" by spamming you with random words. Just talk to your birds clearly and in context; that way they know the words and what they mean. You'll thank me when your parrot asks to take a shower in english or tells you that they love you when they're feeling affectionate.
Yes, context is key. Even though I (most likely) have two females, they have learned 3-4 words (including their names for both). They also know when I'm about to offer them a treat since I keep repeating the word just before giving them the treat. They can be minding their own business just napping or preening by the far end of the cage, but as soon as I give them attention and ask if they would be interesting in a ... "TREAT?" they move to the front of the cage and nibble the cage bars to show how eager they are. I taught the more assertive female this by target training with the tip of my nose haha. Adorable little feathered kids :D (also, the cage doors are open for most of the day, so it's not Stockholm syndrome by any means)
to a point. cockatiels aren't big at talking though, so a bit more repetition is required, and they don't really associate as well as others do. they're more likely to do that with songs.
My Chico only say's "Whatcha Doin" in a very horse voice lol He is very old, not sure age my son got him 8yrs ago from a man who had him about 5yrs and me about 1yr. He is great but does not get along with my 2 Love Birds - Peanut & Buddar 5 & 6yrs
As watched this video this reminds me when I had a dream about my cockatiel saying. Coca cola but in real life my cockatiel can not talk! Especially not saying coca cola
I bought my cockatiel on 5th June and now he is only trying to bite....how can I make bond with him...he is still in cage...whenever I trying to give hand he run or he bites....
Never force them bc they hold grudges. No fingers through the cage. Be quiet and positive talking to them. Give food and water every day while talking to them, and after a few days, try getting them to step up. If they don’t, back away. Try to spend time near them and get them to a happy state while they’re in the cage. If their crest goes back, they’re stressed, give them space and try again etc
