Derek Trucks is a child prodigy - been playing since he was 11 years old. She wen5 to the Berklee School of Music in Boston - arguably the Country’s best school. I live how Derek just stands there and plays without any drama or histrionics - like he isn’t the best.
Seeing this band live is the BEST!! Susan has an amazing voice and she can play guitar also!! Love her husband Derek's guitar playing also!! Such an incredible song!! I've seen them a bunch of times and have never been disappointed!! They are simply the BEST touring band around! Enjoy!
I saw this band about 6 years ago. Been going to concerts since 1967. They are one of the best I've seen. 13 people in the band I think. All of them consumate professionals and masters at their craft
Derek Trucks is arguably one of the best guitarist working today, but his wife Susan is no slouch. She has serious skills and she puts them on display in the song "Pity the Fool". I would suggest you do a reaction to that at your earliest convenience. You won't be disappointed. Loving the channel by the way. 🙂
Midnight in Harlem written by the illustrious Mike Mattison. ( Backing singer, & sometimes lead singer with the band).❤ The whole group is stellar..( miss you Kofi).❤
You should listen to 'I Pity The Fool' live at the Orpheum circa 2021. It will astonish any fan of Susan on playing her guitar and her scorching vocals.
About the 2 drummers - "JJ Johnson was the drummer for John Mayer's band for a long time, and Derek has mentioned that he'd wanted to work with him for a long time before finally getting him on board for this new venture with his wife, Susan. Tyler "Falcon" Greenwell was Susan Tedeschi's drummer for some time before she and Derek finally decided that they wanted to tour together, and they invited JJ to join Falcon, Derek, Susan and some of the other early lineup in the studio to test things out. By their account, the two drummers paired perfectly right from the start."
The song was written by the taller backup singer Mike Mattison. The keyboard player and the bassist were brothers, Kofi on keys and Oteil Burbridge on bass. Kofi died in 2019.
I am fairly new to hearing Tedeschi Trucks. This song has to be one of my favorite songs to listen to right now. I have been a fan of the young incredible guitar player Taj Farrant and was watching his performances at the Byron Bay Bluesfest. Tedeschi Trucks was one of the headliners. Taj's dad said that he never gets starstruck because they're doing the same thing he does, playing guitar and entertaining people. He said did get a little starstruck meeting this band. If you haven't seen Taj Farrant I highly recommend you watch him. He recently turned 15. He was the special guest star at the 40th anniversary celebration for Prince and Purple Rain this past weekend in Minneapolis. He played a couple of shows with his backing band and they also opened up for Morris Day and NPG. For the last song Purple Rain NPG had Taj come out and play. His solo on the song and his prior performance blew a number of Prince's fans away. They loved him. There were many Prince would love Taj comments from them. Taj has been touring the US so has a number of songs to choose from. He plays blues and his own original songs. My personal favorite is Taj playing Gary Moore's Parisienne Walkways. There's a good video of him playing it recently in Nashville. Taj plays the song and the notes you expect and then he solos and plays what he's feeling. His record producer says Taj can stand toe to toe with any player but the he puts in soul just comes from another realm.
Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks are a married couple. She’s a powerhouse vocalist and Derek Trucks uncle is Butch Trucks, one of the original drummers for The Allman Brothers Band.
Probably the most talented and hardest touring band in the business! Do not miss if you get the chance. Susan is an amazing singer and damn good picker in her own right, check out their version of Pity the Fool. Dereks solo band is also amazing, they seemed to both mellow out when they started touring together but they did so beautifully! Some of Dereks best work IMO is with the Allman Brothers but I'm probably biased...lol Just for giggles you should check out Derek playing Layla live when he was like 12. This band is so talented that their back up singer Mike Mattison who was Dereks singer in his solo band is one of my favorite singers, his band Scrapomatic is also worth a listen.
All the books will tell you to use your non-slide fingers on your left hand to help with dampening / muting. Derek may do this, but his right thumb is his secret weapon. Well, one secret weapon. ;)
This is actually and early pre- forming of the band they have a horn section that's not here this was most of the early lineup they have been through tree bass players two different horn player and keyboard they now have three backup singers a let them take leads once in a while.this band music id quite diverse this is a great song ,but they do a lot more.
The band has changed over the years. Obviously the players havr changed and expanded but more importantly, imo, is the jamming is different. The time of this song the solos were shorter and less explorative. Nowadays, they get much deeper into the jams with some songs. Not thos one so much though. I recentty saw them in St. Augustine for about the 15th time and the change is very noticeable. Dreams (Allmans cover) was a huge standout. Overall this show and the last few I went to pushed the jams much further then when I first saw them years ago.
Hey ,new twist for you....we seem to like the same music...try these KIDS....cover band.....LOW DARTS.... try....Tedeshi....Steely Dan......Billy Joel.....Chicago....many more but those are top notch
I started watching this and thought to myself, Ok, this guy will switch so we can see the band on the big screen and the guy who posted video on the small screen. Nope.....I guess he wanted to make sure we saw his reaction.
We try to do that in as many videos as possible, but there’s quite a few videos that will get blocked and unable to be uploaded. If you check out the rest of the videos on the channel we have a ton where we are small and the artist takes up the majority of the screen ✌🏼
@@patriciajordan3887 i get what you're saying though, i'm someone who prefers having a little commentary when i really like a certain song or video so i still like being able to see the video and/or hear the song. i'm sure there's a middle ground there 😁
You should give a. Listen to derick and sonny landrith do Congo square it’s the best slide battle you will ever hear sonny could be better slide player than derick

Nice reaction. He's the best slide player in the solar system right now, and maybe the GOAT sense Duane died so young.

The best touring band on the planet, imo.

They were phenomenal for sure! I bet being there in person was quite rhetorical experience!

You hit it! Her voice is powerful and smooth at the same time

I’ve heard of Taj but haven’t checked out too much of his stuff. Definitely have to check him out! Appreciate it!
This was from a Crossroads Guitar Festival by Eric Clapton...he's huge fan!
This is Jeff.....take a deep dive...just subscribed.
Saw them 7-18 live in Cincinnati.....I was wore out before they were done 😂😂😂😂😊
What’s up Jeff! I bet they were EPIC live! Crazy talented for sure! Have a great one!

Anyhow and Don't Drift Away are the same kind of groove.
RIP Kofi Burbridge

They’re incredible! Thanks for all the info and suggestions!
I had no clue!
TTB is one of the best!
They’re incredible!
And this isn't even the best live version of this song out there. TTB are the best band going today.
Just so you know, Tedeschi is pronounced Te-des-kee, like a key in the door.

That little intro before the song … Derek is imitating Ravi Shankar’s Sitar “Down By the River” on his guitar
Oh wow, that’s so cool!
@rebeccastone3301 Mike Bloomfield also studied the music of India..listen to his East West song..( With the Paul Butterfield Blues band..)
