An extremely detailed tutorial on how to play Night Elf as a beginner to Warcraft 3. Tailored to be safer, simpler, more resistant to small losses. Includes Build Order at start of game (screenshot for reference). Game got to be really interesting, as well! This works vs every race.
Helpo Grubby! Can you make orc tutorial based on their opponent as preparation for upcoming reforged multiplayer current meta?
Thanks for the guide, I hope orcs are soon as well
This was extremely useful for a noob like me.
Great video. I use to play NE back in the day and I would watch your games vs moon all the time to learn. I would like to see much more of these and would recommend a series. Maybe a series that worked to beginner to higher levels?
Thanks Grubby!
When you think that you closed Grubby in his base and almost beat him but he is just making tutorial xDDD
rofl. so true. with no talking he would have already won before reaching t3.
Lmfao
lmao
I dreamt about guide like that when I was 15 or 16, now I’m 31 and still excited , thanks !
14:48 - 15:58 What a legendary peon.
He was running off pure adrenaline lmao
For anyone who wants a text version of the build shown in the beginning
5/10 - 4 Wisps @ Gold, 1 build Altar, maintain 2 Wisps in production
7/10 - 1st new wisp builds Moonwell (Shift Click to Wood after)
8/10 - 2nd new Wisp to wood. Then shift move it to middle; will go after +5 wood
8/10 - the shift clicked wisp builds Ancient of War in your base
8/10 - 3rd new wisp to Wood (you now have 1 wood, 4 Gold Wisps)
9/20 - 4th new wisp to Gold (5 total in Gold now)
9/20 - Altar finishes - train Demon Hunter (Mana Burn + Evasion)
15/20 - 35 wood: Prepare to build 2nd Moonwell at 40 wood
16/20 - new Wisp scouts enemy base, then head to wood nearby
16/20 AOW finishes - train 1st Archer. Total 3 Archers pre T2-tech
19/20 queue 2nd archer then 3rd. There will be a 10s supply block
20/20 - DH & Archers go creep green camps to level 2 DH
24/30 - Finish 10th lumber wisp (9 @ wood in base, 1 @ scout)
26/30 - Upgrade Tree of Life to Tree of Ages (called tech to Tier 2)
26/30 - train 4th archer , then 3rd and 4th moonwells at 180 gold each
28-30 - train 5th and final Archer. Creep and Orange Camp.
30/30 - build Hunters Hall, then build Ancient of Wonders
I thought reforged night elfs were out
Same, I even got excited about this.
If this hadn't already happened a few videos ago, I would have been thinking WOW, they sure made Reforged look better at the same time they added Night Elf . . . .
Same
Same
Only after your comment i realised that this wasn't reforged lol.
I've been a fan for a while and recently have been trying to get back into the game. There is always a lot going on in strategy games, so a slow paced detailed instruction is greatly appreciated. Please make more for other races and may we meet on the battlefield in reforged.
Amazing tutorial, looking forward to new ones with other races! You are the singlehandedly getting/bringing back a lot of people into W3!
NE seems so complicated with all their different mechanics, but Grubby makes it look easy and explains a lot. I don't know if I could copy this as a newb, but it sure explains a lot of cool things! Thanks Grubby :)
This style of walkthrough and tutorial is very comprehensive, I really appreciated it! It would be fantastic to see something similar for other races!
TIL im not even at "bloody beginner" status yet.. holy shit this is advanced for a beginner
These straightforward videos are great! I used to play WC3 as a kid and this was incredibly educational for someone looking to get back in. Please do one for Undead next!
I would love to see this for the other races too, thanks for your work and patience!
Thank you for still making videos. We all appreciate you! Happy holidays brother
Thank you so much for this, and all your other videos! I've been trying to get into wc3 lately and it's really nice to have such an in-depth walkthrough to practice!
Grubby - thank you for these detailed explanation videos. These are extremely helpful. Please give us more of these!
I really like this kind of videos, very detailed, explain each decision, clear af. I hope other are coming ! :)
I'm loving this noob-friendly video. Thank you so much, Grubby.
Thank you so much for this guide! I've been checking for ages with an understandable speaking and I found you! As a non-english speaker, it's sometimes hard to find people that I can understand, and I can understand you 100% So thanks for that!
The most complicated things in this game is the hotkeys but some are similar to Star Craft so I think with practice and time it'll be okay!
Have a nice day!
Dude I really appreciate everything you do.Ty so much.Keep being you man, because you're awesome
You are getting me back into this game! Just realized all my childhood I was playing it horribly lol. I was waiting in base until I had a very big army ))
Genuinely glad you put this out when you did as a new player I wanted to play nightelf or undead as a primary race so as soon as night elves hit reforged I'm gonna start practicing this build :)
Hot night elf with glasses has awakened something in me
I need that picture now
Illidan: same
Malfurion: the fuck? That's ma girl bruh c'mon
Baalbuddy is your go-to guy lol
I'd take her skinny dipping in the moon well and ask homie dryad for dem magic drugs.
This was awesome! I appreciate these tutorials a lot, thank you!
Thx for the guide, it's like a warcraft version of "The art of war" :P
been ages since i've played and, like most, excited for reforged.
Being patient and keeping your cool really seems key tho..
Greetz from Eindhoven.
Learned so much! Thank you!
As a new-ish player who's uses Orc mainly, I could never figure out Night Elves. After trying this for about 5 matches Night Elf has become much more fluid and very enjoyable! I look forward to exploring more paths within the race, but for now, bears are the way forward. Thanks Grubby!
Great video Grubby! As a request, could you also cover UD next or in the foreseeable future? Would love to polish off some rust and get into UD :)
This guy is next level.... gj man
We need Night Elves in Reforged!!!! I've been waiting and checking constantly for them in the beta! D:
I always immediately started with the well + altar. This way it works much better, thanks Grubby :)
this was amazing ! would love to see something similar for other races ! especially undead :>
I would like to see that for the white race
@Igor Spie
A certain Adolf H. did a great guide on that.
I had no idea Nightelves has extra stats at night. I just thought that saw farther than everyone else. Very cool
Yep, double the regen at night that a HU or UD enjoys, but 0 at day time! (Except for Heroes, which have natural regeneration)
This is great Grubby, thanks a lot!
Super interesting.please more of this!!! :)
Amazing comeback with killing the towers.
back to warcraft after10 years + and your video let me remind how to play :) thx !
So helpful. Crazy good video.
I just used this exact build order for the first time and beat an orc as well! Ty!
10:40 I really didn't expect to hear the origin of the word kiting for this games:D
Best opening ever.thankss.
Hey Grubby thanks for the guides. I have watched a lot of videos from you, but there is one thing i never understood, when to sell items? Or which ones to keep?
well, on this video he sold the scroll of the beast cause it was 200 gold for a bonus that druid of the claw can give for 100 Mana, grubby always forgets to use it anyway. about other items, tp is usually sold when u desperately need gold at the start of the game, like orc does or a fast expansion by other race, apart from those u have to evaluate the situation, and also sell auras that u already have
thanks for the video!! was just wondering if it were maybe possible to explain why we're doing some of the actions in future videos so we can adapt and change as we get better :)
edit: you do explain a lot of why we're doing things but for example things like the build order, I was thinking maybe give a general overview of what we're aiming for
Super useful! Ty grubbyyyyyyy do It for the other races too! 😬👍🏻
Winning by defending. U da mvp
He makes it look so easy, but this multitasking is next level, holy Jesus :o It's a very nice guide! Maybe one day I'll be successful in programming my brain to follow most of the steps :P
I really enjoyed this..
What a teacher! Omg, thank you!
These NE vids keep making me think NE Reforged is out! 😅
Same here, still need to learn the build order for reforged 😅
@@Nollaz XD
Just realeased now you can try
So the bloody beginner work for bear and talons build, but how to take the decision of talons or bear ?
Also great videos, keep the good work grubby :D!
It is still insane to me, how people like you manage to micromanage in combat.
Please please please make more videos like this!
Brilliant!
A legend
Towerrush! Good old Elakeduck strat. xD
Thanks for this video, quick question, why do you upgrade the archer range right after Tier 2 if you are not going to replace or build more?
Cool guide.
More Videoss like this grubby pls!! Do Some Basics videos!!!
Love it
Night elf are good for tower rushing, tier 1 siege units and movable towers
I recently found your channel and i love it i searched for a macro/keybind video for better micro-managing/multi tasking (maybe a beginner tutorial) but couldnt find anything.a
Is there a chance i overlooked it or are you willing to make one?
I am willing to make one, I have started making more educational content so definitely stay tuned!
He was pretty good for a 50%. True returning beginners would have a tough time vs an enemy like that...
Thanks a lot grubby
So calm.
I think naga second is actually even better for new players because even at lower levels people still use dispel and naga actually requires less micro
Uuhhhh... I wanted to go to sleep and I see this added one minute ago, Grubby whyyyy!
Btw. I always saw spirit_moon put 5 wisps in gold mine asap, and I was playing like that for quite some years, is it better to put one wisp to trees before putting 5th wisp in gold mine right now because of some patch or is it just a choice depending on build order?
Been awhile since an overexplain/tutorial. Always enjoy them
Hi Grubb, just one question. In 1v1 as NE you never upgrade armor or attack of the units? Thanks!
Here's another tip for beginners: Break the build order down into chunks and practice the first chunk on slow speed, then normal, then fast. once you can do the first chunk without checking the build order, on fast, every time, move on to more of the build. I did this for 16/20 supply.
Quicksaves and quickloads help a lot with practicing specific parts of a build. It's also fun to quicksave before a battle and then redo it many times to practice micro.
Hi Grubby! Do you have any plans to make elf, undead, orc, and human bloody intermediate or not?
It would be sick if you gave a link to the image of the build order.
It's quite hard to micro the army with this BO compared to a KOTG huntress rush for a beginner or returning player, but I guess it's good to learn how to actually play and improve at the game
question. the BO says you have 9 lumber base and 1 scout total of 10. if my lumber scout died. should i replace it so i can still have a total lumber of 10?
Anyone else watching Grubbys Videos an thinks "doesnt look that hard i can do that" and then failing miserably? xD
I have a question. When I was in high school I had this strategy I loved which was to get my Priestess of the Moon up to level 6 ASAP and then nuke their base. Is there any legit strategy that works like that? I'm guessing not, but would be cool if there is.
Those kind of strategies do exist but theyre pretty glass cannon and resource intensive. Not to mention that the leveling would take time as well. But it's still viable, for 2v2 or 3v3 games. But not so much for 1v1
Thanks , we like NE👍
could you make a video about how to set up unit controls? i dont know were to put my buildings i have heros on 1 then unit groups followed by 2, 3 , 4, but i have no idea were to put buildings or wich buildings should be on hótkeys and wich not
Ha! just started playing, lost 5 matches, watched this video and won my first :D
Where can I get the list to print it out and study? :D
Anyone watching this in 2023: Talisman does stack (sort of) with evasion. Grubby’s said in other video
Do you think you can learn rts games without build orders? It usually seems like you don't follow any build other than the start up when you play. I like the micro and building armies but build orders seem kinda annoying. If you do follow build orders how long do you think it takes before you can just play and feel comfortable focusing on the other parts of the game.
Yes, you can. Just know the mechanic of the game is enough, said by me who isn't pro player. Just share my thought, though.
Edit: also, the sole purpose of build order is to keep tracking your progress and make everything efficient. Again, it's just my thought.
Build order are to get more confident and it's easier to keep it consistant. If you don't have it it's hard to improve since the game is diffrent every time. This said you don't have to worry about it too much when you start out. Just have a general idea.
Why get improved bows if most archers are dead by the time it's ready? Are archers remade later on?
I am still waiting for the beginner section
Ok, you said that the moonstone can be used even at night to make the night last longer but at 11:59 it didnt look like the artificial night stops the natural flow of time (just look the clock when he used the item). Am i mistaken here?
It actually stopped the time, lootk at 11:29, then at 11:59 the time is still at 8 o clock. Maybe the time was in 59 seconds already when he used the moonstone.
why not use the hero with riding on a tiger? it has ranged bonus to attack of yo archers? ive use it but i compete vs easy computer :)
Would love to see more beginners build from you and I would also suggest making some mechanics tutorials
Or if somone could guide me to some good teaching/tips and tricks references I would be much obliged.
m.ua-cam.com/play/PLuSwCukq9haSoxTyIw2QoI0hGx7SpL6oF.html
he did that some time ago, it's a bit long but very complete
@@LindTaylorl Thanks a lot !
Quick question, maybe someone can help me on this. Sometimes when I try to shift-build the AoW with the lumber wisp it queues it up properly and sometimes the wisp will get straight to building it as though I had just ordered it to with a normal click even though I use the exact same inputs. There must be something I'm doing wrong here.
I'd bet that it depends on whether the wisp started the next harvest or not. But it still feels wrong as long as you didn't shift click the tree early on. If you did, it will always do one harvest right before it goes further in the queue.
I'd love a video just like this, but for Undead / a Fiends build order into whatever else. Would also like one for Human and Orc if you're able to! If I have to donate in order to get them I will do so!
Why no boots on the DH? And did you go Keeper since you knew that he would tower rush with Far Seer? Why not build a ballista to shoot back at the towers/demolishers?
He explained in video why no Glaive Thrower (they aren't very good, and lost Ancient of War by that time anyway), but Keeper of the Grove is actually not bad against a tower push (summoned units are usually pretty good against these, and the way Force of Nature makes them removes trees that would give the towers partial protection against melee units).
Hi Grubby! Where can i download ur build notes? Ty
When the hunters Hall felt I would gg and quit .
That's how noob Im 😑
Same
it was the least important building he had at that point, all research he needed was done, losing it wasn't a huge deal thats why he didn't prioritize his micro to repair it
losing hall is not a big deal at all. dont leave
LOL right!
What is with grubby meeting these 50% players who play a lot better than 50%. I mean the guy didn't go any casters which was crucial against bears, but still, I can't imagine this guy losing half his games, that was a tough push to hold
can you make another video like that for Undead ?
can someone send me the link where all buildorders are listed?
could you do a commentary like this in your newest vid? kinda help beginner
is there anything similar to this for the other races?
I'm going to make a guide like this for all races, stay tuned and make sure to subscribe to be notified when they are released!
@@FollowGrubby thanks grubby, really appreciate it. I'm trying since few months to get into orc but I'm having troubles with the standard BO (micro of different units/ melee playstyle). more guides like this one would definitely help
@@FollowGrubby I love y
Can you make UD for beginners?
whats the source for the thumnail artwork?
Why do you research better bows if you are moving off from archers?
G!G!
